  1. Will be looking for it.
  2. Congrats on the boat. First thing would be to check the motor out. Then upgrade your fishfinder
  3. My dad has a new lund and it can handle big waves, and fishes out of it really good. Your motor looks good. Deep v boats are very safe, can get pretty shallow, and cut waves down.
  4. Thanks for the reply....again looking good!
  5. Come on down to Oklahoma to look. 10K will get you a NICE boat for that price. 18K and you're starting to talk bass pro new lol. They have a newer triton outside the B.A. store for 21K. Welcome here, best of luck to you.
  6. He's got in it total around 1k I think he said. He did good I feel too. Thanks for the replies. I think his nissan is a 40, but not 100% on that.
  7. I took mine over the mechanic today. I had dark smelly oil-ish looking stuff SORT of like that. Mine is exhaust, so some of that could be exhaust. The motor burning too rich, idling all day, plugs wrong (in my case the plugs in the motor were automotive plugs and not marine plugs too). Next fill up I will run mid grade and open it up for a while, since I don't run and gun either. Do you know what your plugs are? I was pretty happy to say the least. I bet it's not something you would expect.....let us know.
  8. Here as promised, is my brothers thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1174522943/0
  9. I've already posted 'Got My Boat' thread, in another restoration thread, I was saying my brother was working on building a new boat too. Here are his pic's. I would hope LBH would be proud I was really hoping while he did it, he would have taken more pictures, but it went from nasty to nice in a couple of sweat equity months. Those looking for their first boats, you can find one or BUILD one, and not spend a ton of money. I got mine "cheap" (I wish I had the time to do what my younger brother did here, but I don't), he got that boat for $400, then did the rest!!! (He's made an amazing boat now in nothing but time and energy) Non-Boaters, you don't need an expensive rig to catch the pigs. 8-) I can assure you, you'll be seeing pic's of hogs from us.
  10. Looks great! My brother just finished his restoration project too. I'll ask him tonight if I can post his boat pics. Looks good. I want to paint my trailer....any recommendations here?
  11. Even if I won the lottery, I could not buy a 45,000 bass boat....just can't do it. No offense to redline and others, but mine is out of principle alone. :-/ My boat is VERY clean and cost me less than 4k. I could see myself spending around 11k, but not 45k.........ever.
  12. You can get the VHS from that first link. I actually bought the DVD from here. http://www.bassitudes.com/detail.aspx?ID=90
  13. The stuff in the middle could be bait fish, bubbles, etc. What depth finder are you using? Did YOU put the transducer on, or a marine place? etc. If the transducer is in a bad place, it will greatly affect the read out. Get that DVD, I promise.
  14. The grass will generally show up as a soft(er) gray line and sometimes vertically if it's sparse. WIDE gray lines, or dark gray lines indicate a harder bottom. Remember that what's to the RIGHT of the screen is NEW, and the left is OLD. The finders read right to left. Turn the fish id off, turn the sensitivity up, etc. This is the best DVD for sonar I've watched! http://www.westernbass.com/dotcom/vidlib/view.html?id=1116 I learned ALOT from that DVD.
  15. Way thanks for replying. I am going to go over to the marine place tomorrow. Just looking at the trolling motor, it's set up for 12 straight, but the other battery there, was so he could use both batteries in 12 volts. lol I think it's wired wrong. On the other stuff, I know it's hard to explain something over the internet, so I will see what he says. Thanks again!
  16. And welcome
  17. If you're ever going to post pictures from your outtings, see this thread from me. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1174323681 Glenn, Russ, someone please add a link to that program.
  18. Here is a 2 lb crappie we caught about 2 weeks ago. (Same fish just different close-ups.)
  19. And the dog approves, can't you tell? Complete side note: This program is absolutely THE tool EVERYONE here should be using. http://www.brothersoft.com/graphics_design/jpeg_tools/picture_resizer_47436.html It's 280k. doesn't install anything. you take a photo and drag it onto that .exe that you put on your desktop. It automatically puts your pictures at the right size for posting them here, and makes them VERY small. When done it will tell you to hit enter to exit, the pic will be there on the desktop with 400 on it. No need to thank me PS it's free!
  20. Older boats will require more money that you paid for them too.
  21. The rates are good I agree. I will post some pictures tonight.
  22. I just checked their site.....looks pretty straight forward. hammer, drill and drill bit, and then attach the skeg guard. Does the skeg pro come with the nut bolt? It just said on their site, drill the hole, fasten it lol
  23. Oh, it wasn't for any bad reason etc. I just didn't want to have replies for things like it sounds like it's the "x" when the solenoids, plugs, etc are in different locations, sizes, etc. Someone who knows that engine type deal.... One question I had/have was on the solenoid we noticed the screw that goes into the trim solenoid appears to be stripped. It didn't leak oil until after we added trim oil, so I was wondering if we added too much, or yeah possibly the bolt is stripped. The reason we added trim oil was because the motor SLOWLY falls to full trim down. Again not a problem since I would want it mostly down when on plane. I am however, anal and don't want even a pea size leak, so I was going to ask a 'force tech/similar company' if they thought I should replace the solenoid, or have the local techs look at it, or not worry about it and so on. I guess I don't want to pay $65 an hour for something that might not be an issue, or is going to cost a small fortune in researching vs something I can buy and replace. They still charge to look at stuff I fish smaller lakes, and will be using the trolling motor 99.9% of the time. I am not a 'run and gun' guy. I fish for bigger fish off shore with my friends in their boats etc. I do have to have the local guy check the 24 volt setup. I think the trolling motor I just replaced (brand new 70lb minn kota) is only pulling from one battery. So my next question (which I guess is a general technician question) is that shouldn't take long at all to correct, right? The power cable is already ran to the back etc, just looking at the batteries though, it looks like the setup has both grounds going to one fuse, both positives going to one fuse, but not one ground to the other positive etc. I am not a mechanic, but I am a computer tech, so I was wondering how long (i.e. cheaper for me to do it, vs them). There is also the fact that they warrant work, where if I do something wrong........ Basically I just had little questions. The boat runs fine, just got to get the TM at full power. The leak, well....... I would also like to clean the carb, change plugs, so on but if that force tech were to say "oh no, it's hard or not pleasant on that engine" etc, then it would be worth someone doing it. Just questions really being a new boat owner and all
  24. I got an 88 procraft w/ an 89 125 Force engine. I would like to ask someone on here who is a boat mechanic a couple of questions about the trim solenoid, the plugs etc. Is there anyone I can PM who is familiar with Forces? Boat is super clean and within the first 45 minutes I caught 2 fish out of it....then the wind picked up to 20+ mph winds and the wife was ready to go lol. Thanks again for the replies. I just have some basic questions.
  25. Sounds like a good time.
