  1. Those type of waters are always VERY nice to find. I found one the other day like that, but it's a dinky pond. I was walking up to ask this guy fishing it, if he had caught anything, and he was holding in his hand about a 4.5 lber.
  2. I agree good article. I have some places where I would be afraid to throw a crankbait, but with a floater, who knows...
  3. Welcome man. If I could offer only piece of advice it would be PATIENCE!!! Somedays we all catch notta, or only a few the whole day. If you easily loose patience, fishing is not for you.
  4. Yeah I fish 96% of the whole day with worms, and have been using worms for a decade. I just thought I would try out some jigs, some new cajun line, and these "tricks" I read from *** and here on how to get the jig more 'ready' for setting up. I could feel the fish pulling on my jig all day yesterday, but never could hook up with them. Slower is the first and foremost thing I will do starting tomorrow morning!
  5. RW, your last post makes sense. I am trying to get more into jigs, you got any tips you want to share with me? I have a thread started in the fishing tackle, on jigs.
  6. Marty lol
  7. I can't remember all the details, but B.P. imho, does affect bass.
  8. barometric pressure too
  9. solunar charts
  10. Raul those fish are sick!!! What were they caught on? And to someones post above about big fish on spinnerbaits, they absolutely can be caught on spinnerbaits. Last month the new OK state record for a smallmouth was caught from the BANK, on a yellow spinnerbait....talk about fish *** from me....lol
  11. i catch fish often in the rain. Now raining and pouring rain are different. Just rain I am referring to.
  12. Skill mostly I guess. You get better (or should be at least trying each trip) at presentation, finding fish held up, becoming more confident with many different lures and tackle etc. However some luck is at play too. I have watched 'pro's' in tournies catch only 2.5 lbers all day, and then some guy sets the new smallmouth record from the shore, with a spinnerbait. This really happened just last weekend here too. Luck is really at play when you are a great angler, and everyone else is catching nice fish, and you have been too, but then catch a 14lber. Skill like most above have said is catching large fish often.
  13. I am going to check that article out as well, thanks for the link.
  14. Last thursday I had this exact same thing happen to me. I tried gently removing the hook, and she started to bleed. I cut the line and put her back in the water. She swam away just fine, so I also am hoping that hooks fall out in due time. I don't honestly know either way, but I didn't want to kill her for a bas hookset.
  15. He also caught that fish from the shore, on a spinnerbait. I am planning a trip out to chimney rock lake, aka w.r. holway.
  16. Sounds like a gimmick.
  17. How come then those small mouths look different than some small mouths here? I got the impression somewhere that bronzebacks are like a KY or TN strain...not sure why, but I know our small mouths here, don't look bronze at all.
  18. I would proudly wear a bassresource.com tee all around...especially to the lakes. ;D
  19. Great news indeed.
  20. I know they're smallmouths lol. The smallmouths don't look like that here, so those must be a strain, right?
  21. Are bronzebacks a certain type strain of bass? I've never seen one around here.
  22. Worms are tough for a while (imho) to get use to, but once you know 'how' to fish them, they work very well. Yes you can also fish worms from the shore. Spinnerbaits can also be used from the shore, but depending on the oz weight of the spinner (for example a rooster tail 1/8 oz) you can only cast "x" far. However since the bass (here in ok. anyways) are starting to nest shallow, a spinnerbait, or a rat-l trap are very fun and easy to use from the shore. In a boat during this time here, the guys will cast TO the bank then work out. You are actually fishing deeper to shallow. The last two weekends I have caught around 7 fish. Almost every time, the bass hit about 3 ft from the shore. You need to remember patience is key, wearing neutral colors (if the water you're fishing is clear), and to not make alot of noise. Good luck. ps. great to see you're taking your son!
  23. You two? Awesome so am I. I don't listen to music when I fish however
  24. Dang I didn't know about this. Congrats! Time for me to sign up I guess
  25. Man those are some gorgeous bass.
