  1. Yep. It's time for jigs and slow fishing senkos. We are still a tad warmer than I like, but I'll be checking out my secret small mouth honey hole VERY soon.
  2. Yeah if we boated out I would have caught fish, we were bank fishing. I will have to wait till the water is up, or go somewhere else. Nice fish man, good job!
  3. Well we went and it stunk. 1st my brother is annoying me in my left ear from the back seat about how to drive, and I slid right into some previous big ruts, get high centered. 20 minutes go by and I got us out. When we finally got close enough to the bank to see it, the water (I fished at a reservoir that uses the water for power) and it's 6' down. I should have called the automated # before leaving, because the water being that slow is never good for anytime fishing. Next night trip I will either call before we go there, or go to another lake that's always the same levels. KU, I hope you did good.
  4. I am totally with you now. Good idea, keep on him lol
  5. As a side note, LMB have also been known to eat baby ducks.
  6. Gators not here, but where I am originally from gators everywhere...didn't stop us fishing it. (I will say though I only fished till dark back then)
  7. KU seems you and I think alike? Thanks for the link to your post. Good luck to you all as well going at night.
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. I think I know which lures I'll use I only have one more question. As it been your experiences that snakes are worse and night or less? I am going regardless, I just want to see how it's been for you all who do it often (or have been many times). I would think it would be worse now especially since the day is to hot for anything. I plan on wearing some boots, having the lantern, and just watch for each other. Is off really necessary at 11:30pm?
  9. Using a topwater makes sense now that I think about it. I have some 10" black worms I can use, tons of senkos, craws, tubes, flukes, (honestly everything out lol) Yeah I am thinking we'll turn the lantern WAY down, since the moon will help alot. My eyes adjust very well to dark, I use to sneak out.......uh I mean be out on the back patio in the dark So what else guys? Anyone use scents to help, spinnerbaits are probably a no go since it's ROCKY for real. Possibly a buzzbait right around 9:30pm?
  10. So no plastic worms then? How about a jig since mine have rattles?
  11. With the new moon, my brother and I Saturday night, are going to try out night fishing. We are going to use a lantern for snakes and for casting really, but I have some questions about lures. The lake spec's. Gets pretty deep from the bank, and is LOADED with smallies. It's very rocky, so anything weedless will be used. I have noticed fishing it several times now, that only 5-7am is good from the bank, then the smallies run deep and stay deep. I thought night fishing would bring them back shallow again and at night, no sunburn, 77 temps, no people etc. I have read about using black baits and how they silhouette from the moon. Would a white jig NOT be better??? I am still kind of confused on the whole night fishing thing, and I guess bass must have very very keen eyes to see lures? Recommend me some lures to use please, and if you would like to say why, that would be even more helpful. Thanks again!
  12. Shore fishing only here. No overnight stays anywhere, and these lakes aren't swimming/jet ski type lakes. I am in the NE part of OK. Yes, all places will either produce or they won't. Based on the above lakes, which would you pick guys?
  13. Ok longer post, but I like to think things out and give details. Help me guys, decide where to fish this weekend based on the conditions I know. Plus I have never been to any of these new lakes (to me) so I don't want to decide on a name only. Hence where you all come in. Tomorrow-Monday: HOT and sunny in the whole state (90+ w/ 43% hum.), low wind speeds through the state, rained last night and possibly tonight as well. Side note: The lakes my buddy and I have been fishing recently, the post spawn is definitely in swing. I have caught some nice fish (2-4lb's up and fat) but not #'s like we are use to catching. Also electro fishing #'s on all the lakes are very good. With all this in mind, which lake would you go to below, and if you care to say why you think "x" lake would be better or not. ;D ------ Lake A: 50 miles away. 712 acres. Some good shoreline access I have been told. Water clarity is good. Depending on if they are taking water for power (it's a pumpback which just set the states smallmouth record btw, but it was caught in march) the lake could be 4-6' down, or if they don't take water this weekend, it could be normal. I can call tomorrow morning before I head out to check levels. Close to a lot of other lakes including Lake B, and plenty of places to eat (I say this for the wife....we like to try new food places) Blurp on the lake: New state smallmouth record came from here. Great fishing I hear depending on the water level. ------ Lake B: 10,900 acres. Same distance for arguments sake. I would assume enough shoreline access with that big of a lake. It has pretty much the same water clarity as above lake, and they don't fluctuate the water. Blurp on the lake: Known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in OK. It's also 10,000 acres... ------ Lake C: 45-50 miles away. 550 acres. You can walk the whole lake I am told. Ranger said it's about 4' down and because of this, water is murkier than normal. Since you can walk the whole thing, I thought it might be good, but lake has parts that are 30' deep, and the bite has been slow he said. Food places are not as readily available as the other lakes, but it has TONS of picnic areas for a romantic lunch Any other conditions, details, questions please let me know. I (over my choices) really want to check out A, but if the water is being pulled, not so good.... HELP!!
  14. Fronts are what is messing them up. One saturday we slayed them, the following thursday after a similar front, caught I think two in 4 hours. :-/
  15. Thanks Raul. I thought I wanted f-1's but then some other site said....you know how this goes lol
  16. Yes they work. Yami's son makes that brand you mentioned. Be patient with the senko, it will pay off. Anything else you want to know, ask us. ;D
  17. I am going to build a pond, and I am getting more and more confused about what is what lol. Can someone send me a link or post a simple reply, on what is what bass strain. F-1 is what? Northern is what? etc I am getting confused. I know I want redears/bluegills, fatheads/ and then a bass that is not hook shy after a while..which I think is the f-1??
  18. I am about to start. I designed a new art. lure, and I am now trying to figure out if I want to make a mold myself, or show the design to someone, and pay probably lots of $ for a computer die cut mold.
  19. Yep that's on the ark. side lol
  20. By the lip.
  21. Best of luck, please let us know what happens.
  22. Snuff (timberwolf though) and being quiet, that's about it here.
