  1. I like the kayak a lot! It does one issue that I don't like and that's the rudder. Dropping and lifting it is a real pain and super stiff. It's a problem a lot of people have with no real fix. The pedal drive is super smooth although it does make a little noise but, for the price nothing that is a real problem. Its a super light kayak i would say maybe 70-75lbs compared to my previous feelfree lure 13.5 that was around 105-110lbs. If you're on a budget it's for sure a great choice. It wont let me upload pics because it says under 700kb guess my iPhone pics are over that.
  2. Thanks man! I actually pulled the trigger and ordered one. Next price point for pedal yak was 2399 (btw I hate the look and design of the manga ray although it's 1999$). I just ain't got that budget. So now I got PP12, a paddle and lowrance hook 4x all for under 2000$. It's kinda hard to beat that price point! although not many bells and whistles it seems perfect for someone like me that likes to customize most of the stuff to my needs and wants. Will post pics once it arrives!
  3. Idk what to tell ya then... that tire does look awfully low. Looks like it's touching the floor. ? Let us know what fix u came up with. Be interested to know.
  4. If you can shell out 100-300 more I would go with the feel free lure 10 or 11.5. This is honestly the best paddle fishing kayak on the market and with the overdrive system coming out and there new torpedo yak they will easily be the top brand fishing kayaks! Stable, strong, spacious and the most comfortable kayak chair ever invented! Seriously take a look at them and save a little more and get that you won't regret it.
  5. I would just weld a couple bars in between the trailer right under the bow. And mount the tire there. Kinda like the triton boat trailers. Or just throw the spare in the back of the truck. 99% of the time if you need a spare on your trailer it will be with your truck. Just my .02 cents.
  6. A penny for your thoughts on the pescador pilot 12 pedal kayak? I want a new kayak I just sold my lure 13.5. I loved it but I want a pedal drive kayak now. Only thing I'm not liking about the pescador is the pin lock for the pedal system. Anyone that has one or tested one any thoughts?
  7. I just moved to to Arizona from Washington but I'm the 2 years I fished WASHINGTON state my largest was 7.2lb LMB and 3.84lb SMB. Hopefully the bass fishing in AZ is even better! ?
  8. Boat 2. Seems like it's ready to go. Has guages, fish finder and trolling motor. Semi v and v hull will both break through the water. Plus you only plan on fishing smaller lakes. Creating a box for battery and gas shouldn't be that hard. If it were me I would always take something that has everything and ready to go over something almost finished that needs more money and work put into it. Just my $0.02
  9. Congrats on new boat! 1. 36# should get you around the lake just fine but won't win a race. 2. Transom mount on leveled front could work but with some slight mods like a lifted motor bracket and reversing the head on trolling motor. 3. Anchor size is plenty unless you're in 15mph or higher winds but even then probably still fine. 4. It's a personal preference. I used to have a rear mount with a tiller handle extension so I could sit up front or in the back and still control the motor.
  10. I used to throw my old yak straight in the bed of my pick up with a couple ratchet straps... Now I have a lure 13.5 and do the same but have a bed extender to support the end.
  11. I would choose kayak over canoe all day everyday. Although the NuCanoe is kinda a hybrid, but still so pricey for just a shell. I would choose a kayak and if you were really really worried about stability buy the widest kayak and if still worried add some outriggers for even more stability. Lure kayak is 36" wide... Atak is 34" wide both have more width than a 1032 Jon boat.
  12. My first kayak had a milk crate it was a tamarack 120 but got way to small for me I'm 6'2" 195lbs... I think the pelican strike is good choice if you want brand new or CL for used. This picture was the tamarack 120
  13. I was actually talking to the OP. Who are you?
  14. Have you thought about a pelican strike 120x? Don't know your price range but that might be good for you... Maybe let us know a price range and others can help a bit more
  15. The sides shouldn't really matter. My fiberglass boat is the same. Sides flex about an 1" or 2. Main area of concern I would imagine is the seats the deck sits on and the actual design of the casting deck you build (brace points). People have been making decks on the 1032 Jon boats and those are some really thing aluminum boats. I think you should be fine.
  16. Yea that should be more than enough room. Post pics when completed. ??
  17. 5'x7' seems like a pretty large deck. But yea 5' wide should be plenty! People stand on 32" and 36" Jon boats so I don't see a 60" wide deck being a problem.
  18. I did it on my 10' fiberglass boat v hull and had absolutely no problems. Never felt tippy and also stood with another person on board. The wood will add more weight so just be aware of that. Plus another poster above me couldn't of said it better the width is what matters not length and don't measure the floor of the boat since your platform won't be on the floor measure the bench seats width because most likely your deck will be on top of that. I was able to walk, jump and land fish on my casting deck in total the width of the deck measured 50" and it was completely removable no holes, no screws, no bolts in the boat. Good luck show finished product if you do it! ?
  19. Thanks Gregg for the detailed post! I'm glad you had a great day fishing and still enjoy the yak! The 13.5 is about 95lbs so you have me a little worried about loading and unloading but I figure with some wheels/dolly and load the front on the tailgate and basically lift the end only and slide it in and out should work out pretty fine. Im just waiting on delivery, feel like a kid with Christmas coming!
  20. Thanks?? I agree! for what I spent on it I have extra money for a nice gps/fish finder, new paddle and rudder system
  21. I did a lot of research for about a month and decided on the lure 13.5... For the price including shipping plus the width, the storage and seat I personally felt it was the best choice for me. It's been shipped and on the way, super excited. I would personally save and don't just buy a kayak because you only have a certain amount. I would save the total amount of a kayak you truly want so you will have no regrets and actually enjoy every time you're out on the water! Good luck ?
  22. I have no idea about this stuff, but maybe the trailer brake controller was or is engaged? If your truck has one?
  23. The new model 2016 11.5 has the upgraded sonar removeable pod... The 13.5 has always had it ever since its release. So basically all the new lure line has the removeable pod and they can be used in all the kayaks. I've seen a few people add trolling motors to the lure... One was mounted on the rear and one was side mounted. It's very possible to add a trolling motor to the lure if need be. I thought about the NuCanoe but for 200$ more and basically just a shell it didn't seem worth it to me. I love the storage the lure has, plus removeable sonar pod, plus the track system and the new gravity chair, plus I believe 200$ cheaper than the NuCanoe it was just the best overall for me and my needs. Thanks so much! I feel this was a great purchase and hopefully bring me years of great fishing! I had a lifetime tamarack as my first kayak and it brought me countless hours of great fishing plus caught my PB on it! I enjoy kayaks more than boats although most of these kayaks now a days are basically mini boats ?
  24. Thanks everyone! So although most said the atak because of the console... I ordered the lure 13.5. It has the same type of sonar pod/console that's removable, 36" wide but it is 9lbs heavier than the atak. It was also 500$ cheaper and includes a rudder and 250cm FF paddle... The atak would have been a little over 2k just for the yak alone w/ shipping, plus another 300$ for the rudder and about 90$-120$ for the paddle. But I really appreciate the replies and hopefully have pics up soon when it comes! Thanks again to everyone! ?
  25. That would be excellent! I would truly appreciate it! I plan on buying it buy the end of the week! I'm really excited since this will be my first major purchase of a kayak. From the ACK website it says the lure 11.5 and 13.5 have the same total leg room and same leg room to peg. If you could maybe do a little measurement that would be wonderful also would love to see pics on how you set yours up etc... Thanks! ??
