what do you guys use for spawning crappies or just catching them shallow near docks?
ive been getting tons of bites on a 1/16 oz chartreuse jig with a 2in pearl grub and then a bobber 2 1/2 feet above the jig. but for some reason, out of all 20+ bites, i only caught 3 (i only went for a half hour). what should i use (lures, sizes, and colors) and is there a way to increase the hook/strike ratio?
i read this article on using plastic crayfish and jigs and it said crayfish colors are things like watermelon seed, black, black red flake, pumpkin, and green pumpkin. I also hear red shad is a hot color.
well im thinking im going to make a mold out of my creature so i could melt plastic and make it into different colors.
can creatures be fished topwater like a topwater worm or buzzbait?
i keep the daily limit worth, of all sizes but every time i catch a bigger one, ill throw a small one back.
id say 10in is pretty big, my biggest was about 11in. i thought i had a bass, but hey, it taste pretty good.
how exacly do buzz baits work? i know they are like a topwater spinnerbait with an odd blade that makes a comotion. i was thinking, couldnt you rip the skirt off a buzzbait, or even a spinnerbait for that matter, and add a swim bait on the hook as a trailer?
whats weird is people with creatures that look like crayfish plus some more appendages are killing the bass but the others with jigs (crayfish imitator) are getting skunked.
how do you add bubbles to lures to make them float? i think im going to make a plaster of paris mold first. and also i have a few ?'s :
do you need to seal the plaster? if so with what?
Can i use a glass cup in a microwave?
how do you make skirts on a lure?
how do you store excess plastic?
wont the plastic stick to the mold?
