  1. I would try braid, because it is so much more sensitive, it floats, and you can get it in bright yellow. But if you want to stay with mono, big game is the way to go. And like the above poster, I would recommend sticking with lighter jigs, or getting a medium heavy rod.
  2. I would probably use 10 pound mono for the senko, depending on how much cover you are fishing in. For jigs 14-17pound mono would be better, but you might be able to get away with ten pound if there is no cover. And although a medium power rod is perfect for senkos, a medium heavy would be better suited for jigs.
  3. Try power pro or gliss. They both have exceptional sensitivity and the gliss casts a country mile. Except for crankbaits, the only line I use anymore is gliss. And before gliss came out my favorite was power pro. But if you like mono, stick with it as everyone has there favorite line. The only thing I would recommend if you decide to stay with mono is to switch to ~10 or 12 pound test.
  4. I agree, the bitsy bugs I have used are trash. The hooks are dull and weak, the skirt falls apart easily, and the paint chips off the head.
  5. Wow. I would be terrified to fish with it. I think I may have to get into the swimbait carving business.
  6. Bomber flat A is hands down the best..
  7. No you probably shouldn't if your wife reads bassresource. I have made a similar mistake before, and it wasn't pretty.
  8. I am so glad you decided to follow your dream, so many guys dream about it but never try to achieve it.
  9. Great fish, there is nothing like catching hawgs in February!?
  10. What he said.
  11. My favorite trips have always been the ones where I catch a bunch. I enjoy catching big bass as much as the next guy, but sometimes it's just fun to go out and catch the tar out of those little guys.
  12. I highly doubt that there are any fish left, I think you should find another place to go.
  13. Great pb, and at your age I think that it will be broken many times .?
  14. Those are some fat hawgs!
  15. Nice, it always feels great to catch some fish after not catching any in a while.
  16. I agree, it is highly unlikely that birds distributing fishes eggs. Although remotely possible, if that were true the bass would have spread from there native grounds of florida much before the Europeans came.
  17. Pike will eat anything, especially something that's moving fast and is flashy. And if you want a lure garrunteed to hook big pike, tie on your most expensive lure on and go bass fishing. Pike can't resist expensive lures on light line. I love fishing for pike, but I hate them when i'm bass fishing.
  18. Fished after dinner tonight, but most of the fish had shut down from the cold front that moved in last night. An hour and a half of fishing produced six dinks, the largest only going a pound and a half. All of them on the ned rig fished with a drag and dead stick retrieve on the first drop off next to where they were yesterday.
  19. Get a modified V-bottom. Then you can go nearly as shallow as a flat bottom, have the stability of a V-bottom, and have the floor space of a flat. Besides that, everything slonezp said:
  20. Keep both tied on! Although they are both incredibly versatile, each has it's strengths. With a jig and a t-rig, you catch catch fish anywhere, anytime.
  21. No, the Ned rig is a small mushroom style head that usually weighs 1/15 ounce or less with either half of a zinkerz, a trd, or a hula stickz. There are others, but these are by far the most effective. You want to use either the gopher tackle mushroom head or the z-man shroomz with it. Z-man's plastics are different than others, they float, are nearly indestructible, and are the softest plastic on the market. They are so indestructible that it it not uncommon to catch over 200 fish before getting to torn up to use, and I have personally never had one get to torn up to use. The Ned rig doesn't look like much, but it flat out catches fish. The Ned rig was designed with the goal of catching 100 or more bass in a four hour trip, and it's devotees do so fairly regularly. It mostly catches small bass, but it will catch all sizes of fish, last week I caught and weighed an 8.2 pound bass on the z-man trd.
  22. Nice fish and cool shirt. Now that you're famous, are going to start selling your own line of t-shirts?
  23. Abu Garcia's rods in general are stiffer and faster than there ratings. Try abu's medium-lite rod, it's closer to a normal medium power rod.
  24. You should really try the Ned rig.
  25. Since Indiana's fishing is so poor, I keep track of my pb in indiana, my pb for each lake I fish regularly, and of course my over all pb. It makes it more fun when I have a half dozen different personal bests to break.?
