Have not posted on here in years but with my son fishing more and more thought would be good time to pop back on. Not sure if still goes by the name Basser89 but took my son Gavin to a pond he and I fished together in the past. Had a great evening and landed a good bass. No scale as this was a spur of the moment. With line we used to measure length and girth (25 7/8 x 19.5). Have few other pics as well as soon as I figure out the nuances to site now.
Here is one more as I posted a dup prior.
Gavin and I got a chance to get out for our first outing of the year. He landed his first few Rainbow trout out of Middletown Pond and was very excited to add a new species to his growing list.
My son has been on a real good run lately but old dad got a little time in as well. Gavin once again had a rig setup to catfish while we were bass fishing so he landed 3 more that evening. We had some good bass but none that would have made his day and given him another citation size fish.
My son recently had rather extensive oral surgery to correct some issues he was having. Consequently been driving me crazy about when he can go fishing again. Tonight was his first night back at it in awhile and he picked up right where he left off with a great evening. Caught two great channel catfish and around 25 bass out of a local pond.
We got a chance to try our hand at something different today fishing an old hatchery pond. Gavin got a chance to catch his first hybrid striped bass today and was very excited about it.
I have been very fortunate through the years with my fishing success but nothing is better then seeing my son succeed at a great sport. He has been working on his plastics techniques this year with very good results in a multitude of bodies of water. Every time I take him out I am seeing him adapting to new conditions and applying what he is learning. Tonight we hit a farm museum pond with him landing 10 bass with largest being about 16 inches. For me it does not get any better than this ever.
I have been wanting to do it for years and finally got the chance. Even by Sturgeon standards ours were very middle of the road size wise, I was thrilled to check this off my list. I tried for years to convince Basser to go but he likes to stick with his comfort zone. Bluebasser if it is on your list I say go for it if you get the chance.
Basser, speaking of catfish I had your nephew out this morning. He landed a few decent bass then begged to switch up to catfish for awhile. 27 inches on a makeshift catfish bait with what I could find in tackle bag.
Gavin enjoyed reading the responses so thanks Gents. Basser, Gavin said he is ready to go anytime you want and is ready for you to net his first muskie in .5 seconds like you used to do.
After attending his uncle Basser89's wedding last night Gavin decided he had to go fishing this morning before the storms. He landed 13 with his best attached to this post.
Will be gone for an extended trip tomorrow for work so promised my son I would take him out this evening. We went to local pond and as usual he did outstanding landing 13, mixed bag of largemouth and panfish.
Basser, this was the old reclaimed quarry pond.
Have not posted on this site for a long time but whenever my son is involved it is poignant. Got back from an extended trip with work and had to take my son fishing it was well over due. As usual he did well landing 14 and all pictures below are his bass the last one he got nervous so I held it for him. And for Basser89 who I know will ask it was Garnett's Pond.
He was tickled when he caught it and he was just as excited when he had seen people responded so quickly on the board about his fish. Thanks for helping make a little guys day.
Have not posted in awhile but wanted to post this noteworthy accomplishment. My son Gavin who is four landed his first bass today without any help from old dad except for holding for the picture. He caught five today fishing plastics very slowly (just like dad) including his first solo the one in the picture.
Have not posted in a long time but this was noteworthy for me. My son Gavin who is four landed several bass today including the one in the picture totally by himself. He was fishing plastics at the time very slowly so he is a chip off the old block.
