Alright I recently have been pretty successful on some jerk baits during the post spawn. I am using the new rapala shadow rap shad, but I have notice at times when I can see the bass fishing from shore the bass will stalk it and get really close and then turns around. I am wondering is it because it is not hungry or it does not feel threatened? Is it the bait should I switch to a different color? The bass are currently chasing trout and bluegill off of their fry's. What are some good jerk baits out there. What are your favorites?
Went fishing on Saturday with the day being overcast with light sprinkles off and on. I thought the bass would be aggressive, but was only able to pull two out in 4 hours. I tried using cranks, plastics with different techniques. I decided to put on a jerk bait and was successful.
Took the trailer and family camping at Puddingstone Lake in San Dimas, CA last Thursday. I got up early to get a couple cast in before we checked out. On my third cast hooked into one that got away. On my 10th cast pulled out this big bass. I am curious to know if it was the same bass that got away. Either way it was fun pulling this bass out of the lake.
I did not know that. Its a good thing I just use artificial lures. I have been stopped by Rangers before asking if I had any luck and asked to look at my license. They are pretty friendly, if your not doing any thing illegal I guess. Now that I know this I will be on the look out for it. I have fished this lake for 15 plus years and I like that it is local and not crowded. I want to be able to keep catching bass here. Thanks for the info.

Yes this is the lake in Long Beach CA. The blue gill bite is going to pick up pretty soon. I will be taking my daughter out to get some gills. There are people who use bluegill for live bait to catch bass at this lake as well, also a bluegill swim bait is used to get bass. Most of my luck is on drop shot and crank baits.
Alright this is my first post, but I wanted to share my day at El Dorado. I started early around 7:30 at the old ranger station then I worked my way around the lake. I had my personal best day at the lake with 6 bass. It was a fun day. Here are a couple pictures.
