  1. I understand now. Probably the benefits would be not having to change hands.
  2. I'm left handed, cast with my right, reel with my left. Why would you want to switch to a right handed reel?
  3. That's what I figured at max.
  4. I was watching a video of a local bass fisherman. He said that he was punching with 80lb braid. Isn't that too much? Would 50lb be suffice?
  5. In the past, years ago, spiderwire wasn't too bad. But now I wouldn't use it. Powerpro is one of the best out there for braid.
  6. Maybe read this, it's interesting. Duralumin
  7. Have you had any of that "geary" feeling with the Bantams? I've heard some reviews that they have. When I was checking out at BPS, it seemed like a nice solid reel and considered buying one for myself.
  8. What does lifting 8lbs have to do with drag? Drag is for tiring out fish and lifting them with your hands smh. And if you're saying you can't real in a an 8lber with a MH or H rod, .....
  9. I know you wasn't looking at Lew's, but their Inshore looks like a good reel also. It's lighter, brass gears, 20lb drag system.
  10. That Coastal is a good looking reel. I considered this one also.
  11. 6.3 works perfect for me, walking spooks, frogs etc...and it's a good ratio for buzzbaits also.
  12. Thanks, that's what i figured. But just making sure.
  13. Don't hate on me for asking such a n00b question lol. I've mainly owned magnetic braking systems, etc..daiwas and such. I have one centrifugal reel, and I oil the race that the brakes ride on. Does that apply to the newer Shimanos? Do I need to add a lite coat of oil to where the brakes ride on? The paperwork that came with the reel is in japanese and there are no illustrations suggesting add oil to this.
  14. As I've said in other threads, I don't have a boat, so long casts are necessary. Casting across a river, to hit the other side of the bank.
  15. Which model are you looking at? The Calcutta BFS?
  16. I had a Metanium DC, and a BFS Conquest. Hard to compare to those. I would compare it more to my old Daiwa Steez 1016 SV TW. In the way it casts, very smooth, the brakes are great.
  17. I think the species also has a big part to do with, will it injure them or not. Bass are pretty durable, catfish refuse to die, you can breath on a trout and kill it, not really, but trout are very fragile fish.
  18. As many others have said, I will concur, they both make great reels respectively. You can't go wrong with either of these brands.
  19. For me, Powell 3DMax's, and like J._Bricker said, Okumas are good rods for the lower price point.
  20. Lovin my new 19' Shimano Antares 70 6.2gr. Great caster, so smooth, virtually no backlash. 2 brakes on with no problems. And I really like the clicker on the drag. Well worth the money imo. I got it from JapanLure, fast shipping. I recieved it within 5 days. Came with a very nice MegaBass lure.
  21. The only bad thing about chicken livers here where I live, it's the small stripers that always eats it.
  22. I would think away from you, so the hook can go into the lip.
  23. I have the SR9. It's a great gun.
  24. I bought a couple of these about two weeks ago. Not really impressed with them. Not a lot of vibration. Wants to helicopter like a spinnerbait in the wind. I don't think they are worth the 8.00.
