  1. I do use VMC hooks for flipping, how would the coating on the hooks cut the line? im snelling pretty much exactly how the guys does in the video, still dont understand how im breaking off
  2. This year i began snelling knots on flipping hooks and im starting to wonder if im doing something wrong. Recently, ive broken off a few really good fish in T's and fun fishing and its happening at the knot. I know its the knot because im using 40lb braid to 20lb fluro leader and when i bring the line back to me, i see a shirivled up fluro leader end. So to tie my snell im making a loop on the top of the hook, facing down. Wrap 7-9 times toward me, put the line back through the loop and pull the two ends snug tight, and when i pull on the knot, everything seems tight and great. If i land a decent fish, lets say 3lbs, its fine, But it seems like when i lay into another one the knot is failing, i feel like i shouldnt have to re-tie after every decent fish. Whats going on? I've been meaning to re-order me some UV Knot sense knot glue but haent gotten around to it since it exploded on my deck in 90 degree weather this summer lol.
  3. i know theres bass in these areas, its about finding the method of covering the most water possible and matching the technique the the activity level of the fish in the shortest ammount of time (1 day tournament fishing) while the fish are on their morning feeding binge and to me thats crankin or topwater for the lake im fishing, but sometimes im curious For exmaple when KVD won on toledo bend, he went straight to cranking in the morning and dismissed the whole idea of topwater, im sure there are a lot of factors to consider on this decesion making but i try to keep an open mind and learn the reasoning behind this decesion making
  4. Its summer now and most of the lakes around here 75-80. In lakes with good water clarity (2-4 feet) would you prefer to throw topwater or deep crank? (10-16). There is some timber and submergent vegetation abundant, most of the timber being in 5-10 feet of water with a dropoff on the side, with also a lot of stumps in 10-15 feet of water. I know that both of these baits will get torn up under the right conditions, but just wanted to see what most people would prefer. When i talk early in the morning, im talking around 6-6:30am, about 45 minutes to an hour after sunrise.
  5. awesome post, thank you for youre efforts
  6. i took you guys advice and put the oven on 400F for 15 minutes to dry it out, reels spooled up, heading out tomm, tight lines
  7. youre not missing anyhthing but if i remember correctly reading somewhere it said flurocarbon retains a lot of water, which has me a little on edge
  8. So im out in a T last week and i filled up my livewell. I forgot to block off my front livewell and it filled up with water completely. Inside the front livewell contained a tote with 6-7 rolls of flurocarbon...leader line by sunline The line was completely submerged in water for about an hour or two before I found out. The line was removed from the tote and left to dry out for a day or two before it was completely dry. There was also a 1500 yard spool of 10lb excel that aLso was submerged that was also left to dry out. Is my line still good? I'll be using it as a leader from braid Would you trust it? -Mike

  13. I'ts possible that there just isn,t that big of a population of bass in there, theres a dam and 3 spillways so im guessing theres not many fish moving in and out does the dam have a fish ladder? How many times have you been there, it could be just a few off days that you had. What were you doing different on the days that you caught fish there as opposed to the days you didnt catch fish
