  1. Does anyone find it hard to texpose these since they have a knife point instead of a needle point? Do yalls just Texas Rig them in the center of the plastic? Sorry to ask a separate question than OP
  2. 3\0 to 5/0 spring lock keel weighted hook. Love it cuz they are weedless. Love it cuz it won't nose dive but it will fall horizontally and shimmy or body roll as the keitech swimbait falls. Love it cuz the spring lock keeps the nose of the lure locked into the hook and this won't rip the nose. My flimsy delicate keitechs will last longer than my friends senko some days. I haven't really noticed a huge difference in brands if they are Gamakatzu, Owner, Berkeley 219 fusion or whatever new one they have. I did notice that the trokar ones I got had a wider gap than the rest but not as wide as a beast hook. I've also used zman trigger hooks but the weight is farther forward and it will nose dive slightly if that's what you want. I've never fished it with an open jig head without wasting 75% of my casts with my lure covered in weeds. Almost always fish with these types of hooks if it's a rage structure bug, super fluke, even a frog. Keeps it running straight and falling horizontal like I want it.
  3. Love the line thru baby bass. You can learn tricks to do with it either jerk it slow roll it, burn it on the surface. When it falls on slack line it will sometimes shimmie like a senko and roll. Really want to try out the hybrid pike.
  4. Anyone see Larry dahlbergs show when he uses the massive ones to fish for wolf fish. Those are the scariest strongest blow ups I've ever seen and he's using it in a little creek. I also like the 90 size in loon but for me I've almost always preferred little to no sound and would rather throw a weedless ribbit, hollow body or spook. As Blue basser said above. This isn't going anywhere and IIRC is one of the top producers in the river to sea lineup.
  5. I just got a 4 pack of spike it markers for under 10$ shipped from the big bay. Orange red blue and chatruse. The pens don't work as well as the dipping colors on the darker baits. If you think the chartruse pen will color a black blue senkos tail it won't show up as well as the dip. Also I noticed the color doesn't last that long. I do like the fact I can change a white fluke and add yellow and green stripes with a orange belly to make it look like a perch, the main forage where I fish. Back to dipping tails. I only dip a tiny bit, minimal is better I think.
  6. Had a lot of missed top water strikes today in CT. I think the bass are rusty just like when we first start casting again in yhe early spring we miss casting. I throw a kietech or a worm. But also I will throw the frog further and pull it slower threw the strike zone.
  7. Nice Central Connecticut LMB on her bed. Cuaght on a Jackall flick shake in dark green red flake color on a size 1 drop shot trokar hook. Tossed the whole tackle box at her for 15 mins in light rain and finally got her a foot off shore.
  8. I loved the live target feild mouse and threw it a lot last. Year. Would catch all kinds of fish. Super weedless, great hooks and the smaller size is super easy to walk the dog. I useD it more than any frog last year and cuaght a ton of fish in various sizes.
  9. I like it but with the slimey scumy mucky bottoms I kinda want the hook on top. Looks great with a sharp hook. Will get a few more colors.
  10. It reeks. Like oily fermented nasty squid. I like seafood but that stinks. Works great though so I don't care and I guess it's a nice change up to the normal robust garlic. Add some jj and u got a stew goin.
  11. I just got a 4 back of spike it markers for 8.75 shipped from the bug bay. I think it's orange, chartruse, red, and blue. Great for playing with your baits.
  12. I like it, the tail looks more like a grub curly tail than ribbon tail if that makes any sense. I love the color schemes esp fire and ice in the original size. I've been looking for a worm that has the same swimming motion as the havoc juice worm but most don't compare. The culprit worms I have a lot of confidence in though.
  13. I was looking at a diawa tatula which are 100$ every big retailer and on the bigbay they were 93$shipped. I saw I could get the HD model for 119$ shipped which is sold 200$ every where I looked. I figured mine as well get the upgraded version when the savings were 80$ and now a yr or two down the road I won't want to upgrade.
  14. I have heard if you are sight fishing you should choose a color you can see so you can fish the bed and react to a bass taking it off. Makes sense, some guys like to blend in with green pumain or watermelon which is great but choose somthing you can see (if u can in the first place) like chartruse, white, pink, orange. Also some thinks that this might get them angry and attack it instead of gently moving it away from the bed. I love kietechs they will catch anything, I rig them 3/0 spring lock hook weighted for 3.8 inch size. Sun gill, bluegill flash or male perch. Cast on shore near trees structure anything. Super super slow. Good luck!!!!!!
  15. That's what I got for the canoe. He loves to row for exercise but this year his back is bad and he's looking for a solution. Thanks a lot!!!
  16. Would this work on a canoe. I need something for my father he loves to come but has back pain. Any other ideas that people have fee free to post and thanks for this post I'm going to get it asap.
  17. I would also vote Savage gear line thru trout 6" or a bigger kietech
  18. Just got a baby bass color 6 inch slow sink and I love it. Usually have the hook on top and its action is amazing. you can do tricks with it, burn it on top, dead stick it, jerk it, glide it or simple slow retrieve. It even will shimmy on the fall like a senko. In CT I thought the 6inch was going to be big but now I kinda want to get a sinking model and an 8 inch model. My friends think im crazy to fish such a big lure in CT but I know the pike and bass i target eat big 6inch perch. Hard to find although I found one on fleabay for 14$ shipped. REally looking for perch and maybe firetiger colors.
  19. Couldn't find the ambassador on ffo. Right now I picked up a lew's spinning red carbon. Looking at diawa tatula or abu garcia revo o the bigbay and probably will go with a mojo and then a heavy fenwick rod. Thanks for all the help!!!
  20. Thanks 0119 I honestly might do that when I get home.
  21. Hey gang you guys have taught me a lot and many new techniques. I've been fishing for a dozen years and now I go minimum 10 hours a week in CT. Currently I have hundreds of dollars in tackle, constantly buying soft plastics and new lures you guys post on this site. I've never owned a good pole, ever. I pick up my buddies pole and it's night and day compared to my 5-6 uglystick/walmart specials. I TRUST you guys and gals more than a sales person. Long story short I'm getting my taxes and I want/need to upgrade as its kinda embarrassing what I'm currently working with. My setups now are 2 with 30lb suffix 826 braid on them for swimbaits like keitechs and frogs. And then two ligher poles with yo-zuri 6# hybrid on for finesse, dropshoting, and light lures. My ideal would be one MH baitcaster and one all purpose spinning set up $200-250 each. Durability is a factor as I beat on my gear all year long. And I have no brand loyalty so I'm lookin for any opinions at all. Again I'd rather get an A+ rating in durability and B+ in performance than a great technical rod that is weak and fragile. Thanks again for any help. I throw, keitechs, hollow bodies, jerkbait, spinner, frogs, and soft plastics. Not so many cranks.
  22. Just got some and some of the craw are bent over like they were folded in the bag. I'm asumeing that I can boil them for like 10 seconds and reshape them so they're straight again. probably not as long as you would normal plastic like zoom. I got June bug and Bama bug and both colors look great.
  23. I really want a dark brown belly frog or a crazy change up like a junebug. I have two packs of rare Stanley ribbit I use for white cloudy days. A black and blue ribbit and a chili junebug color (purple w green flk). I really want a live target mouse that is solid grey or solid brown yet all of their bellies are white which I feel is good against blue sky but not overcast white sky.
  24. Keitech with twist lock 4/0 hook works great for me. Bluegill flash, sun gill and male perch are my favorite colors. Will be trying strike king too in a couple months when they are availible. I can get 5-7 fish with a twist lock hook even pike. Keitech are frail but they have motion when retrieved super super super slow. I also like the sebile soft swimbait but that's not a paddle tail. Good luck and make a pattern you like.
  25. I honestly expect it to be more expensive with the attention to detail and look of it. I know I would have paid double ~25$. I wish they painted the weight so there's not some silver dot in the center of their amazing paint job but that's just me whinin about something silly.
