  1. Thanks Everyone for your valuable feedback, insights, and experiences. It’s been helpful. I respect everyone’s opinions and feedback. I did some more research and found another forum on here that compared the two types of line. Based on that and my personal experience, I’ll stick with flouro for its sensitivity. I like the sensitivity and feedback it provides over mono. (Blade spin, ticking brush tips, etc...). It didn’t hurt that it’s harder for fish to see as well. I livin in the Chicagoland area and most of the lakes / ponds I fish are pressured. This is one of the articles I found useful, so I thought I’d post it in case anyone is interested. I was surprised. Hats off to FryDog62 he spent a lot of time experimenting thanks for posting your results Thanks again everyone! Cheers, Matt
  2. Thanks Lion. I knew flouro streached, but didn’t realize it stretches as much as mono. I learned something new today. Thanks!
  3. Hey Folks, I’m trying to decide if the stretch of monofilament line is overkill on a St. Croix Mojo Bass Spinner Bait Rod. This Rod is a MH / moderate fast tip which will give a little as a bass inhales the bait. Is the the combination of monofilament with this rod overkill and have too much give? I like the sensitivity of fourocarbon and would like to use it instead. I use Trilene professional 100% Flourocarbon without any issues. If I use mono, it will be Trilene XT. I’ll be throwing spinner baits, chatter baits and swim jigs on this set up. I know a lot of this is personal preference, but I’m interested in what others are using with success. Thank you for your feedback and advice. Cheers, Matt
  4. i just cast it out and real it back holding my rod tip at 2 o'clock. MH Fast. It's a very versatile presentation. The big hammer tail moves a lot of water for a swim bait so I think the fish can track it in dirty water. Bill Lowen has a nice artical in Bassmaster that you can google.
  5. Caught her on a Jon Graham 1/4 oz money color Warrior swim jig with a Big Hammer / Ring Hammer bay shad color trailer. Jon is local and lives here in central IL. He has a guide service and a web site. Jonn-graham.squarespace.com
  6. Got this nice female last night at my little pond
  7. What's up Jeff! It's Matt Dwyer. We need to hook up and fish one day.
  8. I used it a long time ago and had no problems with it. Good stuff but I prefer Berkleys Nanofil. I've been using 8lb on my spinning reel for a couple years now. Only issue is its slippery. I use a uni to uni to a floro leader. I've never had a knot come undone. I like the white so I can see it better. just my 2 cents.
  9. Caught a couple nice ones in St. Charles on Wednesday with a 1/4 oz Jon Grahm Warrior swim jig in bull gill.
  10. Hit some small ponds here in Saint Charles and caught four large mouth in 30 minutes. 1-1/2 - 2 lbs. Used a craw color 1/4 oz swim jig with a keithtech 4" paddle tail plastic. The were hungry.
  11. I like the Trokar swim bait hooks in 4/0 and 5/0. Both weighted and unweaighted. I use them for the Berkeley hollow bodied swim baits.
  12. My little acre pond is above normal. Most of the ponds I'm familiar with see at average level. Some definetly look low, but they never really recovered from the super hot summer we had 4 or 5 yrs ago.
  13. I hit the Fox River Monday morning. Caught one snag. Water was cold. Average height for this time of year. Used a Sure Set 3/16 pink jig head with a 3" white Power Grub. I didn't expect much. It was nice just to get out there.
  14. What's up guys? Does anyone have much luck fishing tubes on the Fox River for Smallies. If so, what colors / size? I live in St Charles and frequent the Fox. Thanks in advance.
