Hey guys I just wanted to know what some of your thoughts are with fishing out of a canoe? Im thinking about getting one under $300 mainly due to small budget and easy to hall around and get through shallow creeks. Is it tough to fish out of a canoe and would you recommend me buying one? Also what are the advantages between an aluminum canoe to a plastic/fiberglass. Thanks!
Hey guys I know this is probably something I should already know but Ive basically taught myself how to fish. My dad is basically a sport guy but not much outdoor and none of my friends really fish or know anything . I was wondering what size hooks are best for different types of fish as well as what bait is good for that size hook and different rigs for fish. By the way Im not talking about using lures here just live or frozen bait.
1st off is brim/crappie/panfish
My friends always say I use to big of a hook but Im not sure if there right. Whats the best bait for this and rigs?
2nd-Gar/Pickerel
3rd-Bowfin
4-Catfish
5-Bass
6-Any other freshwater fish
Thanks!
Today me and my friend went to a big pond in a housing complex on a golf course and tried out some fishing. I started out on a spinner bait and he used an inline spinner. After he catches a brim I switch over. Well the whole day he catches 4 bass and 1 brim with his biggest bass 4 or 5 pounds and I couldnt even get one d**n bite. Same lure and everything, same time, same pond. I usually outfish him every time but today was just embarassing for me. I also tried the great senko every one talks about and catch nothing. Oh well just wanted to put some of my frustration out there since this may be my last fishing trip for a while.
Hey guys I know this is probably dumb but what kind of hooks and bobbers do you use for nightcrawlers? Should I use a bigger or smaller hook and do you use a whole or half a worm, or a tiny piece. I just want to catch some fish so will probably catch brim, bass, bowfin, jack, gar, or catfish where Im at.
hey guys i was watching a basspro.com video about flippin and pitchin and the guy said theres a knob on all baitcasts to stop the line from spinning when it hits the water. he did a demonstration on how to set it, and he just held his rod up and let the bait hit the floor and turned it till it stopped. well my problem is i have a BLUE DAIWA SAMURAI 100 6X BAIT CAST reel and i dont know if i have a knob or not. I see a circle knob on the right of it, but it doesnt work, and im not sure if im supposed to take it off first. heres a link to my reel

k thanks. so when you get it out there do you just leave the bait or do you reel it in? and when you reel in do you crank it with the handle or pull the line
Does anyone here ever fly fish for crappie? I know a place that is stocked with crappie and wanted to try out my fly rod. Anyone know what type of lure you need for it. Do you actually need a fly or could you use a crappie jig or a nightcrawler?
how are you supposed to skip with a bait cast reel? Im talking about stopping the line. Do you stop it once it hits the water the 1st time or after the last? I tried it once and i got back lash
