  1. What you have are not XPS "Extreme" rods, but XPS "Extreme Performance" rods. These rods are IM8 and are much softer (or I should say "slower") then the IM8 Bionic Blades. I purchased the same rod for spinnerbaits and didn't like it because even though it said "MH" power, it felt softer to me. I converted it to my jerkbait rod and I couldn't imagine a better jerkbait rod. The power of the rod seems to be somewhere in-between a Medium and Medium Heavy with a relatively slow action. If I were you, I would convert these rods into a jerkbait and crankbait rod and then buy two Bionic Blades or actual XPS "Extreme" rods for the application you are looking for. Though, if you are wanting to get rid of them, PM me, because I was in the market for 2 of those "Extreme Performance" rods, but Bass Pro doesn't sell them independently, only in combos.
  2. My list is very close to yours. 5" Tiki Stick (Junebug) LC Pointer 100SP (Ghost Brown) 1/2oz Willow Tandem White Spinnerbait Tournament Pro Weedless Frog
  3. I appreciate your guys response. It looks as if I can't really go wrong with either one of those choices. I will give them all a good inspection at the store and choose my favorite. Thanks again.
  4. Which baitcasting reel would you guys say is the best between the Abu Garcia Revo SC, Shimano Citica, and the Pflueger President. This reel will be used for spinnerbaits mainly. Thanks.
  5. I do a fair share of muskie fishing and know several guys who muskie fish exclusively and keeping a big muskie is unheard of. These fish are almost worshipped and to kill one is about as bad as any crime you could commit. The good news about that guy eating all those fish is with how water quality is going, he may develope a build up of mercury and his fishing days maybe cut short...
  6. I saw that billboard as well. You have to be very disgruntled to spend the money on a billboard to warn people about the speedtrap. I have to travel through Sumersville several times a year for work and I hate the fact that you have to slow down to 50mph after travelling 65mph the whole way down. I refuse to ever stop in Summersville for food or gas (it's my little personal way of protest by not contributing to the local economy). Sorry to change the topic of the thread Craw.
  7. Nice Fish Craw! I love the early springtime. That's when you can catch bass and musky in the same area on the same lure at the same time. I got three so far this year on LC jerkbaits (and one that is swimming around somewhere with my $15 jerkbait in his mouth - I wanted to jump in after him after my line broke). What are the measuements on that fish? CJensen, I assume you know all to well about the Summersville police and their speed traps. Do they not have anything else to do, but try and catch speeders?
  8. What is the proper way to work a Fat Ika, RW? I've tried to fish them similar to a Senko, but I realized quickly that was wrong (the Ikas fall fast).
  9. Definitely mono for me. I tried a Sammy once with a rod that had on Flouro. and halfway back, the lure was under water. As far as color is concerned, I'm sure it doesn't matter much. I have Cajun Red on my topwater rod right now and I had clear mono on before and there didn't seem to be any difference in success.
  10. I tie 90% of my lures on. The only time I don't is with crankbaits and sometimes jerkbaits. With those I will take off the split ring in the nose eyelet of the lure and tie on a clip (with no swivel). This makes chaning lures very easy and I don't think it hurts that action all that much. I never use a swivel (except for tying on the bottom weight of a drop shot rig. The weight really turns and twists your line).
  11. I have used every jerkbait you have mentioned and in my opinion, none of those are as productive as the Pointer. The Megabass Vision 110 is not bad, but for the money, I don't see it outproducing the Pointer.
  12. Have you looked at the G Loomis Spinnerbait Rod? I am considering buying th 6'9" Medium-Heavy for spinnerbaits. It feels like a nice rod and it's cheaper the an IMX.
  13. I'm waiting for Redlinerobert, The_Natural, and Raul to weigh in here. If you want to see gear, these guys will put anyone to shame.
  14. No offence, but asking if braided line is sporting is a rather dumb question. You might as well ask if fishing from a $50,000 boat is sporting or fishing with highly sensitive rods is sporting. If you follow the logic that braided line is unsporting, then everyone should fish from floating log using a bamboo pole with string. Braided line is like anything else in fishing, it is designed to help catch fish (which is why many people go fishing, to catch fish). Now if you asked if using dynamite is sporting, that's a different story.
  15. I was throwing a spinnerbait one time when I saw this large dark shadow following my lure (it was a huge LM bass). Right before I got the spinnerbait to the boat, the bass opened his mouth and enhaled the whole spinnerbait. I went to set the hook and pulled the spinnerbait out of his mouth. He then slowly just swam away. That experience made me realize that maybe bass just eat the whole thing (blades, jighead, and skirt.)
  16. I purchased a Megabass Vision 110 off of eBay after reading how good they were on tackletour. One day while fishing a large submerged weedbed I tossed a Lucky Craft Pointer 100sp for about two hours. In that two hours, I caught 10 fish. So I thought I would give the Megabass Vision a try. I tossed the Megabass Vision for another two hours and caught 10 fish. There didn't seem to be any great advantage using the Vision and since it costs 20+ dollars, I might stick with the Pointers (which you can get on eBay for around $11 new).
  17. I actually use a 7' MH Power Rod with a Med-Fast Action tip. I like the longer rod to cast the lure a mile and I like the extra power to rip the lure through the submerged weedbeds if it gets caught up. I figure the extra stretch in the mono will help offset the fact that I use a stiffer rod, which helps prevent the fish from spitting the lure (though I have to be careful the closer the fish gets to the boat). I also use a 6.2:1 reel.
  18. You know a man is used to catching big bass when he doesn't even crack a smile while holding a 12# fish. If I caught a 12# bass, you would have to surgically remove the grin from my face.
  19. I loaded up on Fat Ikas Saturday when I saw this sale. Good deal.
  20. I found a great use for this line. I use it as "backing" on my reels. When I start to see red glowing through my clear flouro, I know my flouro line is getting low and it is close to the time to change (I retie several times a day and that eats up line quickly). The different color also prevents me from casting into the filler line on my reel.
  21. This is what I found on the gear ratio of these reels TD-Z105H Gear Ratio 6.3:1 TD-Z103P Gear Ratio 5.1:1 TD-Z105HL Gear Ratio 6.3:1 This is from Daiwa's web site, so I assume this is correct.
  22. I received my BRC893 GLX today. I am in love! (don't tell my girlfriend). This rod is unreal. FatFishFarmer is unreal as well (the total purchase price including shippping was $267.50). I don't know how he does it, but I'm glad he does. I can't wait to test it out (the ice should be totally gone in a few days).
  23. Natural, Where do you buy the wrap for the handles? BPS has some, but I don't know if it is any good. Thanks for your help.
  24. Deuceu, Where do you buy your Rod Wrap from?
