  1. That's why I was wondering if the SJR902 would be a little more suited for what I was looking for. Thanks for the responces.
  2. I am looking for a nice Spinning Rod for mulitple purposes. Mostly for flukes, shakyhead, lightweight tubes, and some drop shotting. I am mainly looking at the IMX SJR902S and possiblly the SJR843S. I currently use the SMR882S-SP, which is a good rod, but it's slightly tip heavy. Does anyone have any experience with the SJR902S and if so would you recommend it for the applications I listed? Also, for those who own the SJR843S, would that rod fill my needs or is it too heavy in power? Thanks in advance for your help.
  3. 3 Grand in the last two years? I wish I got off that lucky. I went to upgrade one rod to a G Loomis and that's where the trouble started. 16 G Loomis Rods later (with matching high end reels), a new boat, quadrupled tackle possession, and more. It never ends...
  4. What I've heard (this could be wrong) is that the contraction rate of graphite is different then that of the epoxy holding the guides in place. Therefore, delamination or some cracking can occur in the epoxy. That's the only damage I heard that could occur due to the extreme cold.
  5. I checked G Loomis's Web Site and their Musky Rods are no longer on there. Did they eliminate them from their line up? (I wasn't sure where to post this)

  7. Hmmm...I don't see a picture.
  8. I actually have the same interest as the graphite composition comparison of the Bronzeback Series to other G Loomis Series. I will say that at first, I thought the Bronzeback line was just a wasted attempt to expand the G Loomis product. Well, I now own 3 Bronzeback rods and am looking at a fourth and I can't be happier with them. I do not have the specific one you are looking at, but I do have the following: SMR814C-CB - I actually own two of these. One is my jerkbait / crankbait rod and the other is my topwater rod. I personally can't imagine a better jerkbait rod on the market than this one. SMR882S-SP - I use this for flukes, some shaky head applications, and other various finesse techniques. Another great rod, but it is slightly tip heavy (though, since these rods are so light overall, it is not overwhelmingly noticeable). And the other Bronzeback Rod I am interested in is the SMR822C-SB. To make a long story short, if you are getting a good deal on one and you plan on using it for more of a "moving" bait type application, such as jerkbaits, then you can't go wrong. My opinion has greatly changed on these rods and I think you will be happy with it.
  9. I have the G Loomis CBR906. An excellent rod. My only complaint is that the butt section could be slightly longer. Other than that, it is a great rod for what you are looking for.
  10. I noticed that as well...I wonder why? That is a great reel.
  11. I too was like you suffering from withdraw. I found a pretty nice substitute. I started fly-fishing for trout and steelhead all winter. It's not a bass, but it does help with the withdraw disorder.
  12. I found that the SMB814C-CB handles the 78, 100, and 128 very well. It has become my dedicated jerkbait rod.
  13. Well, I hate to be negative, because I have also received great customer service from Cabelas, but here goes. How do they afford it? Everywhere they open a store they receive tax increment financing for 20 years or more. The small stores and, you, the taxpayer, pick up their load. Most of these companies of this size make claims that the economic benefit they provide outweighs the cost of TIF. I've studied a number of cases and it appears to be rare that this is so. Sorry, I don't want to hijack the thread. Now back to your regular scheduled programming. Well, I am sure other businesses recieve some sort of TIF and I find it hard to imagine a store with better costumer service than Cabelas. My only gripe is that there seem to be people who take advantage of Cabelas great costumer service. One guy returned a pair of boot that were beat to hell and said he wasn't satiisifed. They replaced the boots, but I couldn't help thinking that this guy must have been satisified for the first 500 hours of use. I would have a hard time doing that.
  14. I actually think this is legal in all states except for California.
  15. x2 that, I have the exact same rod and I love it, great rod. x3 I couldn't imagine a better spinnerbait rod.
  16. Oh...then I think your Grandmother or Parents (if they are over 55) need a new home.
  17. The solution is simple, just buy a house on the lake. Then you can kick everyone else out.
  18. I have both and I couldn't have said it better myself.
  19. I like 12 lb. flouro. The DT series rating for depth is when using 10 lb. mono. I figure that the sinking flouro at a slightly thicker line diameter achieves the same depth as 10 lb. mono. I like having the added strength.
  20. My JB rod is 6'9" long. I used to use a 6'6" rod, but I wanted to cast a little further, so I switched to a 7'0" rod. I didn't like how the longer rod felt, so I found what turned out to be a perfect compromise - 6'9".
  21. If you are considering moving to Colorado, I would sell all your bass gear and invest in Fly Fishing. There are some great trout streams out there.
  22. I have just recently started to use jigging spoons and was wondering why type of line do most of you traditionally use? Would braid work or is the low stretch a negative when using a jigging spoon?
  23. Sega Bass Fishing for the Wii is pretty entertaining. The only frustrating thing is that I keep breaking off. I don't know my my idiot guy doesn't use heavier line.
  24. Chuck Norris challenged Lance Armstrong to a "Tes..... Counting" Contest...Chuck Norris won by five.
  25. My vote is for the Musky and Steelhead (I never caught a salmon, so I can't comment on them). I have caught many largemouth and smallmouth bass. The only reason you may say a largemouth is a better fighter then a smallmouth is because most of the smallmouth I have caught is in open water, which makes the landing percentage higher. But, I would prefer to catch one 5lb. smallmouth instead of five 7 lb. largemouth anyday (unless of course, I am in a big money tournamnet)
