  1. I was just wondering how the Bass Pro Reel Trade In Program worked. Do they give a gift card or is it more of a voucher towards a new reel only. Also, are you limited to the amount of reels you can bring in and I assume the reels have to work? Sorry for the question, but I will be by a Bass Pro that weekend and was wondering if I should pack up some old reels to take with me. Thanks for the help.
  2. Well, I use reels from the following companies: Daiwa, Shimano, Quantum, Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Bass Pro Shops, Cabelas, Gander Mt., Pinnacle, Orvis (Fly Reel), and Lamson (Fly Reel). If I find a reel I like and can get a good deal on it, I buy it. I am a little more brand loyal with rods (I mainly use G Loomis & Cabelas XML).
  3. Muskie & Fly Fishing for Trout/Steelhead
  4. I'd agree if I was a Saints fan. ;D I was really just pointing out that the list of "never haves" is very long. b Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, and the Seattle Seahawks The good news is if the President extends his share the wealth program to the NFL, then every team will get a Super Bowl Trophy.
  5. You're right...I edited my post from "guarantee" to "bet". I like a good bet.
  6. If we are just talking Species, then my list would be: 1. Chinook salmon 2. Sockeye Salmon 3. Coho Salmon 4. Atlantic Salmon 5. Cutthroat Trout 6. White Shark 7. Tarpon (particularly on a fly) 8. Blue Marlin 9. Dolphin (a.k.a. Durado, a.k.a. Mahi Mahi) 10. Sturgeon Honorably Mention: Alligator Gar As far as fish I want to catch, but have already caught a member of the Species, my list would be: 1. 50+ inch Muskie 2. 7+ lb Smallmouth Bass 3. 10+ lb Largemouth Bass 4. 15+ lb Steelhead 5. 28+ inch Brown Trout 6. 40+ inch Northern Pike 7. 10+ lb Walleye 8. Any Size King Salmon
  7. So let's say the call at the end of the game was an incomplete pass and Warner had one more play where he throws it to Fitzgerald and the Cardinals win the Superbowl. I bet there wouldn't be these same people who are defending the Cardinal now, defend the Steelers in that situation. The reality is that these people do not like the Steelers and complain about anything they can to discredit the win. That's fine with me. If it makes them feel better and they can cope with their displeasure by ranting on a Bass Fishing Board about what happened in the Super Bowl, then good for them. Honestly, I would probably be complaining like they are if the Patriots or the Cowboys won the Super Bowl in the same fashion just so I can deal with my dislike for those organizations.
  8. Wow...someone needs to relax and go fishing.
  9. Hmmm...I really don't understand all this. I keep hearing about the refs and how they cheated the Cardinals, but it was the refs who reversed a touchdown against the Steelers and a holding call in the endzone that resulted in a safety against the Steelers and overlooked holding calls on Harrison almost every play. So if the refs were so against the Cardinals, they even sucked at doing that. It was a great football game no matter who you root for (though if the Cowboys or the Patriots were the winning team, maybe I would be bitter too).
  10. The two Flourocarbon line I had very good luck with has been Bass Pro's XPS Flouro and Berkley's 100% Flouro Trilene. You should be happy with either one of these.
  11. I am sure they can live with that, seeing as they have the rings/ Haha... that was good.
  12. Muddy, I know you are a fan of Cabela's Rods and the Fish Eagle II is a nice rod, but if you catch a Cabelas XML (specifically the C704-1) for sale or in the Bargin Bin, I think you will be very pleased. I love my XML's.
  13. I agree, that is a nice set-up. As for your trouble of carrying several rods fishing from shoremy advice would be to only carry 1. When I can only take one rod, it is my G Loomis MBR783C. This rod can handle almost every lure there is quite well. Is it the ideal rod for every application...no, but it can be used comfortably with whatever I am throwing. In my opinion, it would be a major hassle to take more than 1 rod shore fishing (unless you have a bad @$$ set-up like islandbass). Simplify your fishing trips and find that one good rod you really enjoy to use that can cover comfortably most of the applications you like to fish. The is just my humble opinion.
  14. I would take only one rod and one bait. That bait would be a Senko. Cast in that tree, around that floating dock, into the reeds, and anywhere else. With only a 6 foot depth, you won't have to wait all day for it to sink to the bottom and I bet it would do quite well there. JMHO.
  15. That fish is the second coolest thing in the picture (your hat being first of course)
  16. I took your guys advice and called them. They confirmed that my order will be coming straight from G Loomis and they won't charge me until they receive a shipping confirmation number from G Loomis. Very nice guy I spoke with. Hopefully, the rod will get here soon so I can look at it for the next 2 monthes waiting for the ice to melt.
  17. I ordered two G Loomis Muskie Rods, so it maybe coming straight from Washington State. Thanks for the help and I may contact them just to be sure.
  18. I know several members here order a lot from Reeds on-line. I just made my first order about a week ago. I got a confirmation e-mail that my order was received the day I placed it, but they haven't charged my credit card yet, nor sent the item. I was just wondering if this is usually for them (which if it is, then it's no big deal). I know people have talked about receiving items from them rather quickly and were wondering if I should inquire further or not. Thanks in advance for your help.
  19. Hmm...I have both rods (the MBR844 is my pitching rod and the BCR854 is my weighted plastic and jig rod). On both rods I have fished jigs and they both handled them quite nicely. I think the MBR844 is a little more versatile and since it doesn't have the Recoil guides, you can use braid on it without having that annoying sound when you cast. If you were only going to use if for jigs or weighted plastics with flouro or some other non-braided line, then I would suggest the BCR854, otherwise I would get the MBR844. That is just my opinion based off my experiences with both rods.
  20. x2 x3 x4, plus I tape over the knot (nothing like redundancy)
  21. The reality is you don't really need a dedicated rod for anything. I have a dedicated rod for flipping and one for pitching. Having a dedicated rod is just a luxury with the benefit of matching exactly the power and action of rod with a specific lure and not having to retie or change lures when you want to change techniques. If you have room for it, can afford it, and use the technique enough to warrant a dedicated rod, then I would suggest you get one, otherwise, there is not real need.
  22. I also have the Viento (and two MegaForce). I found I do not use the twishing bar hardly at all. Though, I did discover that when you rapidly press the twiching bar while using a surface frog, you get an action that is tough to duplicate with your rod tip. Therefore, I would highly recommend a reel with a twiching bar for a dedicated frog rod, otherwise, there are some nicer reels out there.
  23. I loved watching him play when he was here in Pittsburgh. I just wish he didn't leave early, but if you offered me that kind of money, I would have done the same.
  24. It's funny you should say that, because I was just thinking about a reel they made I would say about 15 years ago that actually had a small lever on the side of the reel which allowed you to change the ratio of the reel just by moving the lever. Too bad they haven't brought that concept back with a little better design on one of these high end reels.
  25. I have two...G Loomis (my main rods) and Cabelas XML (my travel rods).
