  1. How about broadening the scope of the process? Instead of "How to cast a baitcaster", make it, "How to used a baitcaster". Then you can add the step of spooling it, setting the drag, adjusting the braking system, etc. This will lead you into your "casting" part, but you could also add in a "retrieving" section. If you need even more steps, then I would call the process "How to use a Baitcasting Reel for fishing a Rubber Worm." That will allow you to add a step on the retrieval sequence. You can add or subtract steps in the process by redefining the scope of the process. Your controlling variable will be your time duration in which you have to give the presentation.
  2. This is incorrect. G Loomis does not allow the use of the Xpeditor Service with "obsolete" rods. I'm surprised American Legacy is unaware of this one.
  3. WOW...this is a fly fisherman's dream!
  4. Sounds good, but not as good as $3.88. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0081670125601a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Product_liberal&QueryText=dt+flat&sort=all&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23
  5. You don't need a specific drop shot weight, but I would use a snap swivel or something that can rotate with the weight so all the rotation your weight goes through when being dragged on the bottom isn't transferred to your line (line twist can get ugly).
  6. Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight...
  7. If you don't feel comfortable deep servicing a baitcaster, then I would recommend that you do not attempt a spinning reel.Send it in............. Just my .02 ¢ Good Luck & Tight Lines! I would listen to the Reel Mech. This guy know his stuff when it comes to reels. On a side note, I find far more difficult servicing a Spinning Reel than a Baitcasting Reel.
  8. This picture has no real quality, but it has a lot of meaning to me and with all the reflection on what happened 9 years ago had me remember this photo. I took this photo on September 10, 2010 while on vacation in Cape Cod. I was on Nantucket Island watching the Sunset and it was really a wonderful day. Little did I know what I was about to awake to the next morning. Everytime I run across this picture, I think about how that sunset seemed to be the setting sun on the freedom I know I took for granted. I truly feel blessed to be living in this country and since that day, I know I appreciated every moment I had with the freedom I experienced and appreciated every man and woman who has fought to protect that freedom.
  9. I have used these with some success. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74253____SearchResults
  10. My favorite (and they are on sale)... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0052457122806a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=picasso&sort=all&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23
  11. You mean like this?
  12. Oh, I wish I had an extra $200 grand I didn't need, because I would seriously set this up.
  13. Wow...those last two sunset pictures were stunning. I love this thread.
  14. Nice fish...as far as never forgetting the drop shot, it is the first rod in the boat no matter the time of year. I seem to throw a drop shot everywhere, from 2 ft. deep to 40 ft. deep and in open water to heavy cover. Great technique!
  15. Hibernation is over...
  16. Haha...someone didn't think it through when they made that sign in the second picture. If I were a resident of that street, I would upset that the township was calling my child "slow."
  17. Not really. I like being able to pursue other types of fish. The main species I fish for, other than the Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass, are Muskie, Trout, Steelhead, and the annual Salmon trip. There are also Walleye, Northern Pike, Bowfin, Catfish, Gar, Crappie, Sunfish, along with several other species I just don't target, but can be caught around here. I don't think that kind of variety exists in the south (unless of course, you add in saltwater fish).
  18. Same here...from Mid-November to Early April I dust off the fly gear and fly fish for trout or steelhead.
  19. I have 4 of the Core 100MgFV and it is that much better than anything.
  20. I love this thread...there are some great photographers here (one of which I am not). I took this picture in Hawaii and just liked how it turned out.
  21. You can get a job if you drop out of high school. The question is, would that be the type of job you would want to do the rest of your life? I spent 12 years in college and earned 4 degrees, so it would be easy to guess what I think you should do.
  22. I purchased a swimbait rod from them. Good service and quick shipping. I would definitely order from them again.
  23. I catch a lot on jerkbaits in the spring. I don't call them pike though, I call them slime darts. I have a rule in my boat. If the pike isn't over 30 inches, it isn't coming onboard.
  24. Fred, As other have said, I use mono because it floats (or at least has a much higher buoyancy than fluorocarbon). My topwater set-up is used mainly for walk-the-dog type baits, poppers, & prop baits. All treble hook lures (hence the moderate - fast action), which I fish in open water. If I am going to throw a surface lure (like a ragetail shad) around any type of cover, I use my frog or toad road, which both have braid (and also as mentioned above, braid floats).
  25. I am extremely anal about what rod, reels, & line go with what lure. I am constantly changing things around until I reach what I feel is "perfect" for that application. Below is my list so far, but this will surly change. Casting: Paddle Tails & Small Swimbaits: 7'11 Medium Light Power Moderate Fast Action Rod, 22 IPT Reel, & 14 lb. Fluorocarbon. Medium Swimbaits: 7'6 Medium Power Moderate Fast Action Rod, 20 IPT Reel, & 17 lb. Fluorocarbon. Frogs: 7'9 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 32 IPT Reel, & 50 lb. Braid. Toads: 7'3 Medium Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 28 IPT Reel, & 30 lb. Braid. Punching: 7'11 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 30 IPT Reel, & 25 lb. Fluorocarbon. Flipping: 7'5 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 30 IPT Reel, & 50 lb. Braid. Carolina Rig: 7'3 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 30 IPT Reel, & 20 lb. Fluorocarbon. Weighted Plastics: 7'1 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 30 IPT Reel, & 14 lb. Fluorocarbon. Weightless Worms: 7'5 Medium Heavy Power Extra Fast Action Rod, 30 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Pitching: 6'8 Medium Heavy Power Extra Fast Action Rod, 28 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Jigging / Flutter Spoons: 7'1 Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 28 IPT, & 30 lb. Braid. Medium & Deep Running Crankbaits: 7'5 Medium Heavy Power Moderate Action Rod, 20 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Lipless & Shallow Running Crankbaits: 7'1 Medium Heavy Power Moderate Fast Action Rod, 24 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Jerkbaits: 6'9 Medium Heavy Power Moderate Fast Action Rod, 28 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Topwater: 6'9 Medium Heavy Power Moderate Fast Action Rod, 28 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Monofilament. Spinnerbaits: 6'6 Medium Heavy Power Fast Action Rod, 24 IPT Reel, & 12 lb. Fluorocarbon. Spinning: Tubes & Soft Jerkbaits: 7'4 Medium Power Fast Action Rod, 33 IPT Reel, & 30 lb. Braid. Small Weightless Worms & Finesse Jigs: 7'1 Medium Power Extra Fast Action Rod, 33 IPT Reel, & 10 lb. Fluorocarbon. Shakyhead: 6'10Medium Power Extra Fast Action Rod, 33 IPT Reel, & 8 lb. Fluorocarbon. Drop Shot: 6'10Medium Power Extra Fast Action Rod, 33 IPT Reel, & 30 lb. Braid. Dock Skipping: 6'0 Medium Power Fast Action Rod, 33 IPT Reel, & 30 lb. Braid.
