My partner and I spent 3 days @ SM/FP-13 this week.
Wind: SE @ 10-15
Water temps: Mid 60's.
Baro: Falling to stable.
Air temp: Highs 80 , Lows 60
We have been fishing those lakes for 12 years (about 30 days a year) and always go straight to the south end of FP-13 and never with live bait. (Not that I care how anyone chooses to fish)
We will either start on the east end in the grass or in the nursery on the west side depending on wind direction and fish location/behavior.
This trip we found some males that had moved up into the eelgrass beds but no females for some reason. I guess they were still out on the vast area of shell beds that make up most of that lake.
Day 1 we caught 14.
Day 2 we caught 22.
Day 3 we caught 16.
There were plenty of out of state tags and like us, out of town tags. There were 20-30 boats on the lake @ any given time all three days.
The four or five boats we chatted with claimed near the same results.
Some of the shiner fisherman had a few 7lb class fish in the spillway area, as always.
Looking forward to our next adventure in a week or when the weather permits.
