  1. Finally got to take the boat out for an hour or so. Went to Houston lake since it's close to the house. Fished a live target sunfish and a weightless senko. Had a decent one on the senko that got my wrapped up in some wood and broke off. That was the only bite of the evening. As far as bank fishing, the only spot is at the boat launch. There are rocks along the bank all the way to the dam. It's probably the deepest part of the lake (only about 10'). There were a few people their catching some smaller bluegill so I'm sure there are some bass close by. If I have found any by then we can do it. Pm sent
  2. I just moved to Warner Robins myself and have been asking the same question. Besides what Chris mentioned there is also Houston Lake and Tobesofkee in Macon, but I'm not sure how much bank fishing opportunities the two have. I'm hoping to take the boat out this weekend for the first time since I moved over here, so hopefully I can give you a better report next week.
  3. Nope. There is a pond within about 700 yards but it's down hill from the small one I'm talking about.
  4. I feel like this is can happen. My neighbor has a small pond that had bass and small sunfish in it. (Tiny little pond, really just a water hole for cows) Well one year when we had a bad drought the entire pond went dry. No water in it what so ever. The owner passed away and his family let the property go to crap and pasture turned into woods, but rains filled the pond back up. A year or so after this we went walking around over there just to take a look, and the pond was full of small sunfish. I can promise you no one stocked it because it's right by my house and required a machete just to be able to get close enough to see it. It had to have been birds or turtles.
  5. I have a 179 myself and I like using just the rod socks, but I only have 5-6 rods that I keep in the rod locker. If I had 10+ rods in one side I'd probably go with some type of tubes.
  6. Yeah, I'm up to four now. Plus that bait monkey has jumped on my back
  7. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep Em coming.
  8. Bruce, I hear that a lot about throwing a spinner bait when it's windy and throwing something else when it's calm, but is that only because it's easier to throw in the wind or does it have other advantages?
  9. Thanks for the replies. A jay, I grew up fishing inshore and ponds around my house. All of the ponds were nothing but stumps and lily pads so I got pretty good with a frog and Texas rig. I'm trying to figure out how to cover more water/fish faster. C Golf, this bass fishing is no doubt humbling compared to the saltwater fishing I used to do. I do enjoy trying all these moving baits compared to soft plastics, especially on water I'm not familiar with.
  10. Ok, it may be more than two and I'd like to start off by saying I've been lurking and reading for a while and have learned a lot, but I still have a few things that constantly have me questioning myself. I struggle with whether I should be throwing a square bill, swim jig, bladed jig (chatterbait or whatever else you want to call it), or a spinner bait. I have the most confidence in the square bill and throw it the most out of the four, but I can't help but think I'm missing out on fish by doing that. That leads me to my first question which is how do you guys decide which of the 4 you should be throwing? My next question is the same question, but between a top water bait and wake bait. I guess I don't see a time when a wake bait would catch fish that say a buzz bait wouldn't. What do y'all think? And I have searched, but I haven't found anything that really compares them
