  1. Who doesn't love some good battle scars But in reality, I use my boga grip if trebles are involved. I know...boga/net what's the difference, but I don't put it anywhere near the water until I know the fish is tired. I don't wanna see a fish swim away with a $100 scale hahaha
  2. Hahaha yeah that would do it...me personally though, I wont use one. It feels like a cheat. Just something about lippin them that's the final battle. Idk I'm crazy hahaha
  3. All the ponds near me are good to go..less then a week ago they still had 3"+ of ice but then we got that rain a few days back and its gone. Im hoping Friday doesn't bring it back as I only get to fish for about an hour before work each day.
  4. Well happened again today, same spot except on a jerkbait..twice. first was small about 1lb shook the hook again at my feet, second was giant.. bigger then yesterday. Except this time it shook it's head at my feet and broke the line. Now I feel bad cause it has a smithwick stuck in its mouth.
  5. Went out to a pond today before work. It was all ice until sunday/yesterday, today it was open water. I brought along two rods...my jig rod and jerkbait rod. I fished for about an hour. I set up on the back shore of a small cove with a point that leads to deeper water. There are tons of stumps and sticks in the water. Using a jig/trailer very slowly, dragging it across the bottom I could feel all the ticks as it hit stump after stump. Then I felt a slight tap tap that was a little different from the rest, not really expecting a fish I gave a slight hook set. Then it pulled back and it was game on. I fought the fish, got it to my feet, bent down to lip it and it shook the hook... I was livid. It was a nice 3.5-4lber. So what I learned...if you think you have a bite really set the hook to be sure. I'm new to jigs and that would have been my first fish using one. I went from heart pounding to almost crying hahaha in about 5 minutes.
  6. Went back to that same pond today, it's open water now. That rain really helped. Im gonna give it a go tomorrow or weds.
  7. I've had some very strange creatures end up in my boat/kayaks. They lie in wait on low hanging branches, and when you go past...jump on in for a free ride. Im always amazed at the amount of spiders that will make webs between rods.
  8. Hahaha wish I could have, but I hiked out there before work just to check the progress...I didn't have any gear with me.
  9. Somebody's gotta do it lol
  10. I use em on deeply/gut hooked fish. As long as you have access to both ends of the hook, cut the hook in half then use needle nose pliers to pull out the other half with ease. It provides quick release on the fish that need it most. Same goes for any hook near a fishes eye, I don't risk damaging it's sight more then i have to, just cut the hook.
  11. I walked out to one of my holes yesterday...think that's enough water to fish it? Hahaha
  12. Brings back memories of "The Walking Worm" hahaha I swear that infomercial was so convincing...never did catch a fish on one
  13. Nobody ever sends me anything My address is 1234 Lunker ave manasquan NJ 08736, I am only 14yrs...no 8yrs old and I cant afford much...but always wanted a St. Croix rod. hahaha On a more serious note, that is really nice of you..aswell as others who have done the same. The world needs more people like this.
  14. Lures that I can burn though the water, particularly spinnerbaits. After that its weightless plastics fished around heavy cover. I have a jon boat, but spent many years walking the banks and to this day there is still something about it that I prefer. It makes me really dissect the waters Im fishing as you are forced to use the waters that are only within a casts distance.
  15. I just picked up another pair of Berkley glasses(plastic) at Walmart lastnight for $4.99. I buy a pair every year for the start of the season and I love em. The waters I fish dont justify expensive glasses, they are all mostly shallow and muddy. At that cost I also dont worry about them, if they break its no biggie...though I have yet to do so.
  16. One comes to mind, a Strike King elite buzzbait($5) not expensive but had so much sentimental value to me. There was just something about this particular one that was like magic. It would catch fish when nothing else would. I had at the time also caught my personal biggest bass on it in a heavy rain storm, and the bass exploded on it. It got to the point where there was no longer any paint on it, and it was missing more then half its skirt. I made the decision to retire it, with the fear I would one day lose it. Then for some reason the next season I decided to try it once again....wouldnt you know thats the last I ever saw of if...flew off on a cast towards the center of a pond. I would pay $100 to have that lure back. Other then that, I have lost countless numbers of my favorite Booyah spinnerbaits that cost about $6. Over the years Im sure it would total more then $100 worth hahaha
  17. I know I should, but often forget to... Call it a day after 8 hrs of fishing Put on sunblock Charge the battery for my trolling motor
  18. no no no, you should play this one on my behalf hahaha
  19. Forgot to mention it holds 3 3750 Plano box's for all my hard baits aswell
  20. I use an old backpack. Its packed to the hilt with lures of every category. I try to stop buying stuff when it's filled and just use what I have. It could currently get me though an entire season of fishing, no problem.
  21. Sweet, Hopefully the 3rd times the charm
  22. Sounds like a job for the top water frog
  23. Yeah man I think your getting ripped at $5 a car, I hope your not floating the cost of supplies aswell hahaha I tend to buy my gear offline as the stores around me don't have that great of a selection. Also they are cheaper online. Even if only a few dollors saved combined, that can be one more lure lol
  24. Well then, I wasn't anywhere near correct with any of my guesses hahaha
  25. Get the reel that gives you the $100 card, then use the card to buy the other reel. You then get two reels for the price of one. Problem solved
