Ice went out around me last week, so I was finally able wet a line. Was only able to shore fish for about an hour on Saturday, but managed to catch two. First was 1.5lbs on a wacky rig, second was a 6lber on a chatterbait, both in about 2-3 fow. Decent start to the season, can't wait to get back out!
The small ponds I was hoping to fish this weekend were still iced up. One of my friends actually ice fished one on them. I live in Auburn during the week, and there's still some ice on Sabattus and Lake Auburn, as well as small ponds nearby. Looks like it will all be gone in the next few days, however
Checked Sabattus yesterday, the edges were all open and the ice was really dark. Should open up soon. Also know some smaller ponds in Western Maine are starting to open up. Might be fishing that area this weekend, even if there's still some ice left.
Here in western Maine (just north of Kezar) we're still on roughly 24"-30" of ice....this snow we're getting isn't going to help either. I've heard reports of 10"-16" on Sabattus, however
Hey everybody! I recently bought my first bass boat ('96 Javelin 369), and am in the process of replacing the carpet. While doing some research on the subject, I came across some people saying that they used outdoor carpet from Home Depot or Lowe's, instead of marine carpet. Have any of you ever done this? I don't mind spending the extra money for the marine carpet, but if Home Depot could as good a job as Cabela's, then might as well just do that!
Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
