  1. Anyone buying Tungsten Jig Heads somewhere and making their own? In New Hampshire we have a lead ban effective come June which is forcing me to sell off my Dirty Jigs... the majority unused (in Flea Market). I am now on the lookout for a replacement.
  2. I've got some pickerel but that's about it. Some lakes they're more present than others. I've never had one cut through my line, but I change knots often and keep an eye on it.
  3. Thank you for all the help! Sweet, checking them out too.
  4. Sweet deal, last (hopefully) stupid question. Is the Flash Pointer 100 SP what everyone is mentioning? or is the flash separate?
  5. Is the 100 Pointer an SP or is that an additional model?
  6. I'm looking hard at pointers... what in the heck is the difference in all of them?
  7. I'm hoping for some regional input here as well (I live in New Hampshire). Looking to put together a jerkbait "starter pack". Looking to buy a total of 12, max $15.00/ea I've seen mention of Staysees and Pointers. Are X-Raps, Husky Jerks and Shadow Raps not on par? I'm looking for ease of use, no modification needed out of the box and best bang for my buck (which I know doesn't always coincide with the previous two). I feel like these baits get confusing with so many different models in each line. Thanks for the help, -Aaron
  8. When are you looking to buy? Heard a rumor you have some bass fishing going on down there in Massachusetts? I have a 783C and 784C and a strong desire to catch fish... Just saying.... Sorry meant 683 and 684. Mobile editing not working tonight
  9. Well... I'm in line at Tackle Warehouse for (2) 71HG's.... Going on the 736C and 765Flip
  10. The DX is over $300, if you can wait for the Tackle Warehouse sale you'll save some coin. I really don't think you can go wrong with a champion series.... It's pretty much all I have and I never felt like I'm needing more... At some point it's diminishing returns on the more you pay versus value (bang for your buck). Just my opinion.
  11. I've got both and love them. I wouldn't trade for something else and don't feel like I'm missing out by not having the next line up.
  12. I transitioned to all Dobyn's Champions and like them a lot. Right now I have: - 683C - 684C - 702C - 704 CB (and the 704 CB Glass) -705 CB (and the 705 CB Glass) - 736C - 765 Flip - 703 SF Prior to that I had St Croix's in various lines and the old Cabela's XML rods. I LOVED the Cabela's XML rods as well but they were discontinued, didn't have the warranty St Croix and Dobyn's has and didn't hold up as well...
  13. The no backing is a definite plus for me. I am for sure putting a 70 on my Dobyns Champion 765 Flip. Putting a 70 on the 736C would allow me to do both reels with 150 yard spool of 50+ lb braid, leaving a little room at the top to be sure I don't overspool. This would save money in the long run and still have the ideal set up. Think I'm sold. Now just time to get in line...
  14. The palming is why I was really giving the Curado 70 a hard look, particularly as it would be on a pitching / frog rod. I figured it would really excel at pitching and be ok for frogs... I know I'm not going to cast a frog that far, just over thinking... I think
  15. Ain't easy with all these choices...
  16. Hi Guys, I have a Dobyns Champion 736C as my flipping / frog rod. Seeing the release of the Curado 70 has got me thinking about pair them up. It'd be primarily used for pitching around cover but occasionally casting into and over slop with frogs... I'm also thinking of spooling with a high lbs braid... Thoughts? I've been tooling over this for a while and am starting to WAY overthink this... -Aaron
  17. I feel for you... In 2013 I kicked a Dobyn's Chamion Series 683C with a Revo STX over the side of my boat... It was raining and 53 degree's with steady wind and murky water about 5 feet deep... I swam for about 45 minutes until I started feeling numb. By the time I made it back tot he boat landing I was regretting the swim, the kicker... my wife bought the rod for me as an anniversary gift!!!!! Telling her was not fun, I felt like I a 16 year old who wrecked their parents car. Good luck with the search. PS... I never found my set up and dragged that area EVERY TIME I fished there for months...
  18. What are you guys using the 50/70's for?
