  1. Hi all, I'm trying to remember the name of a guy that I knew in the past that guides on the Chicago river. We were both members of the Arlington Anglers fishing club a few years back. Any help with his name and contact info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Kevin Brown.
  2. The last time I was at Ponderosa Lake was about two years ago and everything I did catch was under 10 inches. I ran into a DNR agent that day and he said that they hadn't done any stockings at Mazonia in over five years.
  3. Unfortunately a sign of the times!
  4. Time to give Garmin techs a call!
  5. You are so right. If you find the right retention pond it can be a killer of a day! Going to try some in my area this weekend.
  6. It is not just the amount, it is the continuing gouging of the taxpayer in this state! Every time that I turn around it's something else.
  7. I just renewed my fishing license online and our illustrious state now has added a processing fee of $4.00 in place of the former $1.00 agent fee and $1.36 convenience fee. Looks like governor fatty has found another way to get in our wallets!
  8. Even the retention ponds near me have slowed down lately. Now that the temps are in the seventies instead of the eighties hopefully things will pick up!
  9. Congrats! Lake Erie?
  10. I think I like your home location more than the Garmin!!! Thanks.
  11. Good to know and thanks! Thanks Koz. Unfortunately mine does not have Android car play but your idea of a portable dash mount makes sense. Thanks Scott and all the others for the positive thoughts and information!
  12. Good thought but I intend to permanently mount it in the vehicle. Thanks!
  13. I am looking to buy a portable gps unit for my SUV that shows small lakes, rivers, streams and retention ponds. I currently have a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder that has a factory gps/nav unit that is severely lacking in this area. I previously had a Toyota 4Runner that showed any and all lakes and rivers which was great for finding new areas to shore fish. If any of you could recommend a portable unit it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
  14. Great purchase. I love my 73sv and mostly the ability to create my own maps on small lakes and ponds.
  15. Good for you! The golf pro must also be a fisherman!
  16. Great video...the river looks alive! When I lived in Orchard Park, I kept my boat at Rich Marine and loved fishing the river. What camera were you using?
  17. Hey Lunkerdown welcome to the forum. As Ajay just stated there is a ton of basic information on this site regarding fishfinders which you should definitely check out but as someone that has the same Garmin model that you have I have found that you really need to spend time on the water focusing only on the unit...not fishing. There is so much to learn and understand on this unit, especially with the side view, customisation, map creating and sensitivity settings that it takes a bit of time but you should find it rewarding in the long run. It's a great unit. Enjoy!
  18. I agree with the original poster.
  19. I run my Echomap 73sv on a similar battery (different brand) and I have never had an issue for a full day outing.
  20. I hear you. I am in Illinois and we are lumped into the Northeast as well. Seems like someone thinks the midwest is in the northeast!
  21. Interesting info guys as I had been considering the Aqua-Vu Micro Stealth 4.3 inch unit myself and now I think that I may reconsider and spend the money on another rod and tackle instead!
  22. Agree...the ponds around me might as well be frozen over.
