  1. Megastrike doesn't stink up the boat or leak anywhere. You might get some on your hand but I've had worse crap on me while fishing. LOL
  2. Hang outside a popular bar some weekend. During the day, the place will likely look like a ghost town. During the evening and nighttime hours, you will see all sorts of males and females in various stages of courting ritual. LOL Bar = woods Male/female patrons = Turkeys Spring = Night time = The right time Just like bucks running around crazy during the rut, this is the turkeys' time to do their thing.
  3. Oh, I'll still bring it without any issues. There appears to be more than enough water to just play around with the trolling motors front/back, I just won't have a gas motor like I originally intended. Like I said, I can still put one on the back if someone can bring theirs. My boat is about as stable as a jon boat gets, just like I like it.
  4. Gentlemen, I have decided to forego the motor for the back of my boat. I just can't justify the expense at this point. If any of you Res guys can pull the 9.9 off your boats (Aaron ) I will still be more than happy to bring the aluminum aircraft carrier and throw your gas motor on the back.. Even without the gas motor, I still have no issues doing an electric only fishing day.
  5. Because shooting at them is dangerous.
  6. Saw one in the water, wasn't too impressed. I also noticed the tendency to roll. We were fishing jerkbaits and I really wasnt impressed when fishing them like a traditional jerk.
  7. I seem to catch a greater percentage of above average fish this time of year but my BIGGEST fish come in July and August. I just fish, man. Your buddy has his opinion and you have yours. I have mine. As long as he isn't putting you down for fishing this time of year (over and above good-natured ribbing) then I say let everyone think what they want. Anything is better than sitting at work.
  8. I'd be willing to bet you guys will get into some "picture worthy" fish down there. Good luck.
  9. In your OP, you failed to mention you found out the bite after the tournament. I'd say chalk it up as a learning experience, be prepared to flip brush next time if you have to and move on to the next tournament. Try your strengths and if that's not working, be willing to adapt.
  10. LOL, a fisherman is still a fisherman. As RW very often points out, fish weights tend to get streeeeeeeeetched out a bit when not put on a scale. Everyone wants that fish to weigh just a bit more than it does. Not calling his integrity into question, simply a recommendation to remove all doubt and allow others to share in his experiences through seeing pics.
  11. See, I was right. Just catch bigger fish. LOL
  12. If you want to "fool" the fish, I would try a swimbait or a jig. If you just want to "catch" the fish, I would catch one of those little bluegills swimming around and run a hook through it's tail.
  13. One of the greats. Respect. http://www.tmz.com/2013/04/26/george-jones-country-music-dead-at-81/ White Lightning anyone?
  14. Not a clue on specific spots in that area but it shouldnt be too difficult to find somewhere to access the river. Along it's whole stretch, it's not long until you are able to find a spot to fish. Spinnerbait wouldnt be a bad idea either. I'm just partial to topwater this time of year in the river/tribs.
  15. Do you have any free time at all when you are up here? Like enough for a day trip?
  16. You should be right in the heart of spawn/post-spawn. Just go fishing, seriously. You may very well have a banner day.
  17. ^ Disregard, I found it. Electric only.
  18. Are there any boating restrictions at Black Hills?
  19. I think the pros would clean up on the Quan.
  20. Lake Linganore is bomb!
  21. Some good suggestions here. If you are fishing from a boat, there is generally no excuse (except in extreme situations, cast offs or bite offs) for losing a bait. Buy yourself a good plug knocker and it will pay for itself in the first day. Guaranteed. If you are fishing the baits correctly, they are going to get stuck. Honestly, I would save your money and buy ONE or TWO proven hardbaits and learn them. I personally prefer the Mattlures Hardgill or the High Power Herring. IMO, they are the best hardbaits that I have used as far as fish catching ability. If you focus solely on the price of these things, you will never fish them where they need to be fished. You can thank me later. It's worth it, trust me.
  22. Garth Blake Shelton DAC Haggard Hank
  23. You still didnt say whether or not you contacted Bobby about the issue. If you were only looking to see if others had the same issue, I believe your title could be worded very differently.
  24. What is a price range you are comfortable with: A. For a single bait B. For a rod/reel combo
  25. Just catch bigger fish.
