  1. Yep, best way to get bit is pick one and stick with it. Spend the money up front, don't go necessarily "cheap" as it will save you money and headaches in the long run.
  2. Posted in the Outing section but forgot to post here with the math. This fish was 7.47 or 119.52 oz State record for PA is 179oz 119.52 / 179 = 66.77% of the state record for PA. Gettin' there
  3. Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words. For the record, I went out the next day and blanked. LOL
  4. Oh, I've known ol' Deep for a while now. We share the same affliction.
  5. Banging it out in PA. Get at me bro! LOL
  6. Hey, you wanted to learn the ins and outs of fishing swimbaits right? Overcoming and accepting that right there will put you on the right path for sure. I like this, keep it up. We're watching......
  7. Why worry about keeping it up in the water column? Fish will eat a fluke if you can't see it. If they are really shallow and you NEED to keep it up, try mono or the lighter hook. I'll venture a guess that keeping it up top has more to do with you being able to see the hit (it's exciting, I'm the same way) and having more confidence in setting the hook than actually getting more bites.
  8. I prefer finesse type skirts for smallmouth and full skirts for largemouth.
  9. Got a pic? That's a big fluke bass man!
  10. Necrotic tissue is no bueno.
  11. Also, if you live on a lake, do you have a dock with some resident bass that like to be fed? Live trap 'em and feed 'em to the sharks.
  12. I used to take a BB gun and spot/stalk them when I lived with my parents way back. Was a great way to improve on your hunting skills and it also kept them from overrunning the place. Always a fun way to get outdoors and waste an afternoon.
  13. AJ, just a thought to help you along a bit. Consider trying a Water Gremlin Bull Shot crimped on your splitshot rig instead of the round shot. Better than a pegged bullet, IMO, for this rig/technique.
  14. Send me a PM with a guess but sorry, not putting that info out there.
  15. No sir, going on year 3 with it. It's been trimmed on occasion to comply with wedding rules put forth by my buddies' wives. My wife won't let me shave it either. LOL Dead serious about that hardgill being the most versatile swimbait I have ever used. If you remember, that's the one you fixed the back section on. Told you that was my favorite bait. Haha. BTW, getting to be that time again for muskies. I'll shoot some pics if I happen into one again.
  16. You're in Vegas, eating dinner on someone else's dime (assumption since its a meeting). There are worse places to be. Much. I'll trade you the place I sit at everyday. You'll want to be in Vegas. LOL
  17. Nice looking color. Funny looking designer.
  18. Grab 'em with one hand, fish with the other. Who's scared of 6 footers?
  19. Slammer or rat bait. I also agree with whatever you are catching them on during the daytime.
  20. That's what I'm looking at one for, a little heavier jig rod. The short handle won't hurt me too bad as I mostly pitch instead of cast. I was talking to a fella from there yesterday and he alluded to some new rods coming out. Perhaps I will hold of for just a bit then.
  21. It's the full sized one, SS. I'd venture a guess that it's probably the most versatile swimbait for the entire country. No exaggeration.
  22. Did the river come back down yet?
  23. LOL, it has been a while and I am 33 now. Pardon my forgetfulness.
  24. A couple of weeks ago after a really good meal and before spawning that thing might have pushed 10 with that type of frame. FYI, I'm available for invites and volunteer to arrive blindfolded.
