  1. That is kind of the same idea as the VMC bugeye hooks. I think yours is better for a few reasons though. First, your idea allows you to move the weight around to different parts of the hook, where VMC's is stationary. The other thing is that splitshot weights are CHEAP, and that is when you are talking my language. When you can catch more fish for less money, count me in.
  2. Now there is a sight I would like to see.... You quietly come upon this little cove and as you round the bend, there, in the middle of the lake pulling out LMB is none other than Snoop Dogg. Fizzle snizzle pizzling all over the place. Ya dig?
  3. Oil company? As far as money goes they have plenty to throw around.
  4. Welcome to BassResource.com You will like it here... There is no real science to it. First off, make sure the fish you are grabbing by the mouth is not a species with large teeth (musky, walleye, shark perhaps). Also, be wary of what type of lure you are using. It is very easy to snag yourself on a treble hook when lipping a fish. Other than these two considerations, IMO you dont really have anything to be scared of. Once you catch a few and get some practice, all will be right with the world.... Happy fishing, Enjoy
  5. do a search for hydrilla gorilla. I think it may be the same as the jon boat website mentioned above. All kinds of good info and you are able to buy a book w/ step by step instructions.
  6. pumpkinseed w/ blue fleck, watermelon, red shad and black.
  7. haha, awesome. I do like companies that stand behind their product and are willing to keep the customer happy.
  8. I am officially out of this discussion. I learned that lesson yesterday. LBH is right, there are certain sponsors that will ultimately shorten your career. Choose wisely, grasshopper....
  9. Five bass limit and Valascus, I will third that notion. Your chart seems like a pretty good representation of the waters I fish around here. Over 12-15 ft is deep.
  10. I think the closer to winter you catch fish, the larger they are going to be due to them gorging themselves for the cold season. I know a lot of people in my area actually stop fishing around the beginning of October b/c archery season starts. Most of the larger fish I catch are in the spring time, they seem more territorial. 11. Although, in my initial posting, I did say ALMOST anything. In my personal experience, you ALWAYS leave yourself some window of escape.
  12. ok, ok....I appreciate the opinions of those who know more than me (LBH). No, Vince, I thought that is what the insinuation was as well. Thankfully, it was not. No ruffled feathers. No blood, no foul....
  13. So, what you are saying is that because I dont use Tampax, that I shouldnt accept a sponsorship from them? I think the WBT might have something to say about that. Look, I am comfortable with the fact that I wont likely get sponsored by anyone except my own hard work at my day job. All I am really saying is that, given the opportunity to advertise someone's product for them and get their name out in an arena where it typically wouldnt be, I would do it for them. If in the process the financial support they give me allows me to showcase my talents, so be it. It sounds like a win-win situation. LBH, I would love to know what term you may be referring to. PM me with the info if you can.
  14. Calculators are a general estimate. You can purchase a digital scale for not a lot of money and it will take the guess work out of the equation in the future.
  15. Brian, great comment on the one year hunting pass!! ;D As far as sponsors go, nitro/tracker marine would be a great one to have...best packages out there for the money. Any bait manufacturer that would be willing to step up and give me product to use would get my approval. I'm with senko, if the money is right and they pitch it the right way...yeah, I would rep just about anything out there.
  16. I am with Matt Fly...there are not many docks on the lakes we have around here, but when I do find one, i like to used tubes.
  17. I like bassmaster, and if you want something more than a monthly publication...there is plenty of info on this site to keep you reading for a while.
  18. Dont forget to check the sharpness of your hooks. Try using a medium heavy action rod and swing for the fences when you get bit.
  19. Never saw that feature before, thanks.
  20. I didn't know that, thanks PA Angler. I know many of my biggest fish have come around the beginning of May and with that law in mind, not that I have a fighting chance at the record now, I really have no chance of catching "the big one" in PA.
  21. In Ray Scott's interview, he also said that if it were caught out of bass season that he would keep the fish, pay the fine and reap the rewards. I am not saying that I might not do the same thing, but this is a VERY public figure making these claims. He is considered a conservationist to the very core, and he is saying he would not only kill the fish, but possibly even take it out of season. That should indicate just how big a deal this fish will eventually be...
  22. That is the mystery of fishing, my man....
  23. Thanks for the link....I actually went to college there for two years and never knew they had any decent marine biology department.
  24. I agree 100%. Respect for and from fellow fishermen is a big part of the game.
