  1. You seem to think that people are getting rich off of welfare programs. This is not the case. As far as people "loading up on lottery tickets, cigarettes, beer and snacks" you got one right out of four guesses. Snacks are the only thing that you are able to buy with food stamps because they are FOOD. If you try to use your card to buy those other items, the cashier will ask you for another form of payment. If the welfare clientele are the bain of society because they use their "checks" for evil purposes, maybe you should research people who abuse the unemployment, social security and workers compensation programs. Food stamps and cash assistance are deposited on a card, much like an ATM card. This gives the "powers that be" the ability to monitor what is being purchased with their benefits. The other programs I mentioned give a physical check or deposit the money directly to a bank account, where the recipient can do with it as they please. Now I ask you, Where do you see more regulation taking place? Like I said in my previous post, the welfare system is far from perfect and there are some people that find ways around the regulations and do the unscrupulous things you mentioned, JUST NOT AS MANY AS YOU THINK. You state that every month, people are lining up outside the office waiting for their check. Have you seen this with your own eyes or is this the opinion of an adult that you know? My guess is that if you are attending school, you have not seen it for yourself. I dont want to seem like I am treading on your opinion, because you are entitled to it. I would, however, like to see some factual basis to the opinions that you express. Ok, all done. Wayne
  2. Thanks. Not sure about the trip...
  3. Finally, someone like me who doesnt own $500-$1000 fishing rigs!!!!! Thanks, no need to be sorry. If you catch fish, who gives a crap what you do it with. Wayne
  4. Yeah, we dont have stuff like that in PA. Awesome buck, young 'un!!!
  5. That is not just in West Virginia. Every state, including mine (PA), provides most (if not all) of those services. For the first time, I think I might actually be the authority on a subject. These are quality programs and yes, there are some people that abuse it. Just not as many as you would think... Wayne
  6. haha, you two are outta control. ;D
  7. Ok, Gameover's post was ridiculous....dont pay attention to him. As far as my reasoning for the separate waders, Avid hit the nail on the head. You will likely get a sloppy, uncomfortable fit with bootfoot waders. They are, after all, one size for everyone basically. Neoprene is nice in the winter, but is FRIGGIN' HOT after the spring time. The breathables I have allow you to layer clothing so that cold is not a problem. The felt on boots will hold up, believe it. And the first time you are in a slick rock situation, you will completely understand the reasoning behind it. There is a compromise however. Muddy banks become very slick w/ felt soled boots. If you plan on fishing lakes with your boots, go with the rubber sole. If you plan on doing mostly river fishing, opt for the felt. Wayne
  8. Fishing a popper is pretty simple to teach, and rather effective on numerous types of fish. Live bait is a pretty safe bet though, so good job on the hooks and bobbers.
  9. Gee, more stuff I cant afford!! lol
  10. Yeah, look him up in the member inquiry. His top three are something sick....like 18, 17, 16 and change.... Wayne
  11. Mind if I ask you a few questions then.... Have you heard how the fishing is in this section of river? What time of year would you recommend to catch both numbers and some size? What are the minimum boat specs that I would need? (boat length, motor (electric/gas), etc.) How much does a non-resident fishing license cost in TN? And finally, would you care to fish that section of river sometime? lol ;D
  12. Those fish are freakin' awesome!! Does the Tennessee River flow anywhere around Knoxville?
  13. No offense, but you are not a fisheries biologist...so I dont suspect that you would see what harm it would do. Transplanting fish is typically a bad idea, but you are gonna do what you want, right? Just know that you have been warned if it doesnt turn out right. If it does, great job to you. I would let your own pond develop and create its own "year class" of fish. Stick to fishing the lake for you larger fish for now...
  14. That is a really rough situation. Hopefully everything works out for them...
  15. Sounds fun. Sailfish are so cool looking.
  16. You can also throw a fly with a casting bubble or even a bobber. Both will work.
  17. I will second that one...
  18. I was looking for bodies of water in Maryland for the upcoming season and what do you know...I found Ben23's picture on the DNR's website. Looks like FishChris has some competition... http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/fishingreport/freshwater.asp Scoll down, he is holding the big pike.
  19. Wow, talk about a post that makes you think.... Very well written, puts life into a little better perspective. Thank you. Wayne
  20. Muddy, your posts are interesting (to say the least) an they are always funny. I cant wait to make a Cabela's run and trade some B.S. with ya. Happy holidays, best wishes. Wayne
  21. Cant wait to see your results, welcome aboard. Here is a little advice from you that you will eventually hear on here anyway (just to help you along a little bit): Buy a scale. Get a camera to take pics of fish. Buy Gary Yamamoto Senkos. That should start you on you BassResource.com way....
  22. Being new to this as well, I am not sure how much expertise I can lend to you, but this is what I did when starting with jigs at the end of this season. I bought a few 5/16th Booyah jigs in green, watermelon/green, and black/blue. Trim the weedguard down to just above the hook line. Along with those, I got some watermelon and black plastic craws as trailers. Put this on a 7' MH rod w/ 20lb. braid and didnt pick up another rod until I had caught a few fish. The first fish that picks it up, you will think, "Holy #@!&*, I think I just had a hit!!" The guys that posted before me are correct, the bite is the hardest thing to pick up on. Once you get a few to hit it, however, you will be able to recognize the difference between a "plastics bite" and a "jig bite" Wayne
  23. Does your jig have a weedguard? If so, try trimming it down on an angle just a bit above your hook point. This way, it remains weedless and there is less fiber preventing your hook from penetrating the maximum distance. Wayne
  24. I should have adressed the fact that I was focusing on the Ricer's as in the people who drive them. They buy hondas, toyotas etc etc. Then they put all this trash on their car. Like the huge wing for example...whats the point of putting a freakin huge wing on the trunk of a front wheel drive car? I'll elaborate more later...... Now that, I can understand. All good in BassResource.com land....
