  1. Yeah. Don't know 'bout the newer truck models but when my dad told this to a buddy of his, his friend said something about the copper in the muffler too.
  2. I wouldn't even bother with them because cheaper plastics catch just as much fish and are easier to deal with. Now, for saltwater fishing, the saltwater version works wonders for spec trout, red drum and even blues, if it's a slow day on the water.
  3. Oh, I would keep the plastics in the bags they come in.
  4. My main tackle bag is about identical to the one you use. Here's what I do: I have 5 of those BPS large plastic organizers. 1: for cranks starting with shallow then I work my way up to deep divers. 2: Jerkbaits, jointed baits and other slender profile baits 3: Spinnerbaits and anything with blades. 4: Spoons...not the kind for soup eating... and jigs 5: For big baits....swimbaits, musky lures, striper plugs, etc. Side pockets: pliers, fishing license, protection gloves, water, nail clippers I have another bag totally committed to plastics. I put all the weights in a small plastic box from lightest to heaviest and then swivels/beads at the end. Another box for hooks: 2/0 up to 5/0 and jig heads. I have another bag totally committed to panfish with small crappie jigs and stuff for blue gills. I have another bag totally committed to fly fishing. I think that bout covers it. If needed, I'll just move some of the other stuff over into the main bag, depending on what I'm fishing for.
  5. Beware. I was fishing with my pops yesterday and when we came back to the car, some punk cut the muffler off my dad's truck. I don't think it was "vandalism vandalism" cause there were no key marks, popped tires, etc. but someone out there is taking parts off to sell to a local junkyard or ebay. I was sooo ticked I could have shoved my Cardiff down the dude's throat. We had to drive all the way back to Hickory with that loud muffler noise...sounded like a tugboat the whole way home.
  6. DANG. I can't even imagine what kind of rod, reel and line to use to get those things. Maybe a shark rod and a boat to haul those things to shore.
  7. I guess this really comes to show that all colors will catch fish, some more than others depending on situation, but in general I think colors are intended to catch fishermen. We all have our favorites because they produce well for us but someone elses favorite colors produce just as well for them. Now, my turn: -Plastic Worms: Black/Red Flake, Pearl, Grays and Blacks -Cranks/other stuff: chrome, chrome/blue -Fat Ika: Poop Brown
  8. Not meaning to hyjack the thread but what is it about the thumb pressure that allows the the knots to free up?
  9. What does it mean by exposed blank reel seat? Can someone post a pic? What is the advantage or preferred reason for this? Thanks.
  10. Planning to go back there for 2nd time. First time kicked my butt. Only one fish. I'll be fishing for smallies and just wondering if someone can give me some pointers on line size, baits/lures, techniques, etc. Anything helps. Also, I've heard rumors that trout, pike and musky are in those waters. Is that really true? Thanks.
  11. Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to locate crappie when not in spring season? They just disappear or something when Spring is gone.
  12. Wow! You are my hero. By the way, how can you tell native trout from stocked trout?
  13. It is a high screeching noise. It's my favorite reel too and I about had a heart attack when it messed up.
  14. Hey guys, Last weekend I used my cardiff for light saltwater fishing and my buddy sprayed this stuff on it that is supposed to prevent rusting from the saltwater. Anyhow, I didn't fish the reel prior to going so I don't know if it was already screeching or if the spray had anything to do with it by getting inside to all the parts. The spinning reels that were sprayed did okay but my cardiff would not cast, especially backhanded. The lures wouldn't go no further than 10-15 feet. What do you guys think is wrong? I washed it up and all but now I don't even know where to re-grease it. Any similiar troubles before? You think the spray had anything to do with it? Thanks.
  15. For blues and speckled/gray trout on light spinning gear, I use Mirr-O lures. I have a few in a range of shallow to deep runner. They work great.
