  1. I've mainly fished it on St Clair in the spring with the fluke off the back. That bait is absolutely killer in late April and early May. I wasn't sure if with the vibration from the boot tail and the blade there was too much going on.
  2. Okay I'm about to restart fishing tourmaments in a few weeks after a 4 year break. I used to fish an underspin alot of St Clair. To me an underspin = finesse spinnerbait. To my question, is putting a Keitech on the back of an underspin too much action given the blade is already throwing off alot of thump? Am i better putting on a trailer that is more subtle?
  3. What size hook is recommended for a 3.8" Keitech? I'm thinking 1/4 or 3/16oz for the weight. I wouldn't be fishing that deep.
  4. The last time I followed this website closely it cost me thousands of dollars keeping up with Jones's tackle. Don't get me started again!
  5. Most of my Keitech fishing has been with a weighted head with exposed hook but i was looking at other options since I moved away from St Clair. Are many of you fishing it with a bullet weight that can freely slide on the line with a hook that you can bury into the bait? If not what are good weedless approaches?
  6. If you fish Lk Erie at all drift and drag works well out there. Personally I think a 2/0 hook is more than you need. I use a size 1 hook and nose hook my baits.
  7. You look like you're set for 3 lifetimes!
  8. Thank you sir! Unfortunately in 2018 I moved away from eastern Michigan and Lk St Clair to take a better work opportunity. I just recently found a bass club out here to join which I am looking forward to. I like green fish but the fight isn't the same vs a giant smallmouth bass.
  9. Tom, I primarily use spinning rods in Michigan but have casting reels also. For the Sniper i like 7 pound fluoro to 16 pound SX1 braid. I have Shimano FH reels. It's like the old question, is the NRX worth $100 more than the GLX?
  10. Is Tatsu a $100 better than Sniper?
  11. $200 for the bulk spool. I couldn't do it.
  12. Hey guys i am looking at getting back into tournament fishing and looking at grabbing a bulk spool of fluoro. Is Sunline Sniper still a good choice? I can get a 660 yd bulk spool for just over $50. Any other better choices for comparable costs?
  13. Before senkos became all the rage i used to fish a 3.5 or 4" tube with a 1/16 ounce jighead and it fell in such a fashion that it would spiral fall. I think it was a good imitation of a wounded baitfish. I used to catch alot of bass this way.
  14. The pre-rigged purple worms. Kelly Striper & K & E worm.
  15. I threw a weightless senko 90% of the time last summer. I caught some nice largemouth fishing from a kayak for the 1st time. It's weird being a water level with the fish. I thought i would lose more.
  16. I mean that sounds prime for a drop shot. Maybe you didn't have the right bait on or have the lure at the right depth. But I would have 100% confidence fishing a drop shot in the type of area that you described.
  17. I would consider myself a finesse fisherman also and this is absolutely one of my favorite ways to fish. You can fish that way anytime from spring to fall. It seems to work better when the fish are less active or not actively chasing moving lures because the lure stays in the strike zone for longer. Sandy and rocky bottoms are ideal. Weeds that extend high off the bottom is not best for this technique. Get yourself some size 1 Gamakatsu split shot/drop shot hooks and some Yamamoto shad shape worms, some Roboworms, some Poor Boys DS darters and go to it. Very easy way to catch fish.
  18. I have so many fishing lures. Crankbaits, jerkaits, spinnerbaits, top water, I could go on and on. I have pretty much narrowed down what i fish with a senko and drop shot. It's amazing how many fish I catch. Stick with a few techniques and really master them before you consider adding more. Anyone live out by this guy that could help speed his learning curve? I live in West Michigan, you're welcome to fish with me but unfortunately I fish from a kayak.
  19. The whitefish spawning run is starting here in Michigan. Delicious eating fish, especially tastes great smoked.
  20. Blade bait, ned rig, drop shot, jerkbait and jig. Move them all slowly.
  21. I think you're overthinking it. Keep in mind bass have a brain the size of a pea and are opportunistic feeders. I think colors make a difference a small percentage of the time. Saying that I do have confidence throwing morning dawn and twilight type colors in clear, shallow water for largemouth and smallmouth here in Michigan.
  22. You forgot to add this question in there too, one fluke or two? Once you master the single fluke rig read up on the donkey rig.
  23. Nope based on the research that i did here before i bought the rod i knew I wanted to get the Fury or Mojo bass.
  24. I'd get the St Croix mojo bass or the Dobyns Fury. I have both. I don't know that i have a favorite. They are both good rods for the price.
  25. What state do you live in? Join a bass club as a non-boater (co-angler). You'll learn a ton.
