  1. Are you guys using braid to fluoro for drop shotting too? If so are you going lighter on the braid like 10 or 12 pound. This is a big step for me coverting all my spinning gear to braid. I've fought the urge up to now. But the savings in line alone is worth it. I will usually spool my reel with all fluorocarbon.
  2. Thanks guys grabbed a spool of Power Pro slick 15 pound (4 pound diameter) off of Ebay. Been finding things cheaper than TW on Ebay with free shipping lately. Spending way too much money.
  3. Lk St Clair and some inland lakes.
  4. Okay I'm finally jumping on board the braid to fluoro line for spinning gear. What pound test braid are you all using like the 20 pound (6 pound diameter ) or 30 pound (8 pound diameter? Or is that too heavy?
  5. Just curious as to why you are saying it wouldn't be good for smallies? It seems like it would work to me.
  6. What's your must have crawfish imitation bait? Is it the Berkley Havoc? Or the Strike King Rage Tail craw? Or you got something different? What's your go to bait when the money is on the line?
  7. Is ML right for swim jigs and swimbaits?? That doesn't seem right. Maybe you meant MH?
  8. From what I've read about it yes. Have I tried it? No.
  9. So I suppose you could do it for beaver baits too then? I'm still not sure on the hooks from the video but I ordered some VMC Ike weedless wacky hooks in size 1/0 and 2/0. Will this work okay?
  10. Do you use nails or the screw in heads like he suggests? I kinda like the screw in heads just wondering about what size heads. Light as possible or get it on the bottom fast? I'm mainly trying to decide between 1/8 and 1/4.
  11. How does IndianaFinesse not know about a Neko rig? That seems like an oxymoron
  12. I've heard of this technique but just really starting to delve into it. I'm a fast learner what do I need to know about it? What type of hook is preferred? Like a drop shot hook? Thanks for getting me up to speed. FF
  13. Spend what you can afford. Buying a $200 or $300 rod isn't going to make you a better fisherman. However, it does give you rods that tend to have very good warranties.
  14. I fish Lk St Clair alot and tubes quite a bit. My preference is a slightly longer rod say 7'3" medium fast or Xfast action.
  15. If you're trying to decide between Loomis and Croix at that price point you're better off with the Avid X.
  16. I was wondering about the braid comment too. Wouldn't it be easier to learn on maybe 15 pound mono?
  17. Shimano Zodias ML or M
  18. Yes there are some on this site that recommend FFO. A reconditioned rod is one that was broken in some capacity but now is fixed. Meaning either the tip of the rod was broken or maybe a guide. I would assume they still were gently used but am not certain of that.
  19. Check out Monster Fishing Tackle too. You can put yourself into an IMX for under $200 with their current discounts.
  20. Also depending on what state you live in the water temps are still up and down. I live in Michigan I fished yesterday and caught 1. The time before I caught my personal best. I think alot of what happens right now is driven by weather conditions. Stick to it you'll catch them. Senkos are a great lure for beginners. There's really no wrong way to fish them. If fishing was that easy we'd all be making a living on the Pro Circuit. The best weather conditions I've ever fished in for largemouth are low pressure so heavy clouds/drizzle that preceeds a high pressure front (bluebird skies). The fish feed like crazy before the high pressure pushes in.
  21. With 5-6 pound line I'd say go the ML
  22. Very nice job fellas. It felt like I was in the boat with you while reading your story.
  23. I think both of manufacturers run a little on the heavy side of power too. I bought 2 NRX spinning rods recently that I'm having a hard time picking up because I like that Zillion so much. They say it's about 75% the value of the Steez for 50% of the cost. I may have to get another one eventually.
  24. I've been using a Daiwa Zillion 7'7" medium power regular action rod to throw my Keitech Fatties with 12 pound fluorocarbon. The Zillion flings the bait a mile and has great sensitivity. I think the regular action allows the fish to get the bait before I pull it away from them. If you're looking for a rod I highly recommend this one. I've also been using it to throw my lipless cranks too. For the record I do tend to speak up Daiwa products but I am no way affiliated or compensated for my recommendations.
