  1. You can find Roboworms at Dicks usually and maybe Yamamoto shad shaped worms. If you are down in Houston do you fish Lake Conroe?
  2. Now you gotta get on Tacklewarehouse tonight and order you some Yamamoto shad shaped worms, Roboworms, Jackall cross tail shad, poor boys drop shot darters and if you can find them Berkley maxscent flatworms and you'll be a drop shot pro before you know it!
  3. I live/fish in Michigan. There are alot of smallies here. I've caught alot of largemouth on a drop shot probably more than smallmouth. I'd say probably 3.5 pound largemouth were as big as I've caught. Not giants but nice size fish. I'd rather throw a drop shot than a jig all day.
  4. I'd highly recommend the G Loomis NRX 872s. Great rod, even better if you can pick it up on sale.
  5. Preference for those of you who fish both? Personally I fish more of the ribbontail than the curl tail worms!
  6. As mentioned the beneath code used to save you $5. Let me know if it works. FHABAQ214
  7. What size senko are you using? If you are using a 4" up it to the 5". If you are already using the 5" you'll probably just have to deal with it or switch over to a 6" senko.
  8. Not to hijack this thread but is there still a $5 coupon code for TW. With that code I would order less than $50 and pay for shipping because it was only a few bucks with the discount code.
  9. I drop shot alot and i have probably caught more largemouth than smallmouth bass. It's an excellent technique. My preferences for baits are Yamamoto shad shaped worm, roboworms, Poor Boys Erie Darter and DS Darter, Reins Bubbling shaker, crosstail shad.
  10. Come up to Lk St Clair in the spring like late April/early May and put the small fluke on as a trailer. You'll have a new appreciation for an underspin. I can't catch fish on a jerkbait. Maybe i don't work it right but I'll frequently tie one up fish it for about 10 minutes put it down and not pick up back up.
  11. Size 1 Gamakatsu drop shot hook and anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 on the weights. Titanium is preferred.
  12. I like Shimano spinning reels and Daiwa casting reels.
  13. I bought all the stuff for the Neko rig. My advice would be to Ned rig
  14. I fought learning line to line connections for the longest time but if i were you I'd use cheap mono or co-poly backing, tied to 12 to 16 pound braid tied to a 7 to 8 foot fluorocarbon leader.
  15. I use braid to fluorocarbon on my spinning rods exclusively. Something that nobody mentioned is keep your drag setting a bit more towards the loose end than the tight end. I rarely have issues with knots breaking. I tie a uni to uni knot.
  16. I miss em after i sold them. It's like that old hairband song "Don't know what you got til its gone".
  17. The bass are feeding up during this time period usually smallies are bottom feeders. I have had success locating active pockets of fish surface feeding and throwing a Keitech swimbait where they are actively feeding. Just keep your lures towards the surface right now.
  18. Lol good eyes A-Jay! It does say Octopus hook but that's still huge. Maybe tarpon fishing?! @West Fishigan lives only about 20 minutes from me I could get him properly schooled in the art of a good drop shot.
  19. I had two 872s rods 1 green and 1 black/blue. They are great big water rods and can do alot. I liked it as a drop shot rod but it was a great for tubes, senkos, small swimbaits almost anything. Unfortunately money became short and i had to sell both rods.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions the Owner Twistlock 4/0 sits in that recessed area of the 3.8" Keitech perfectly. Looking forward to trying it out.
  21. Drop shotting catches alot of fish for me you could use your medium action spinning rod for that. So many different things to drop shot roboworms, shad shaped worms, Poor Boys Erie Darters, cross tail shad. It's an easy way to catch fish especially in the north on the clear water lakes.
  22. I have a Dobyns 733 or a Daiwa Tatula 7'1"MH, I plan to throw the 3.8" Keitech. Does either one sound better than the other?
  23. True because that paddletail throws off its own thump but I think there are days where the flash from the underspin blade makes a difference. However, i primarily fish clear water lakes so that can make a difference too.
  24. What type of rod and line are you using throwing in the weeds?
  25. I agree i have underspins for the bladed options. I was definitely looking at the Owner now to see if i can find it locally.
