If anyone is looking for a G Loomis GLX jig worm rod 6'8" medium XF action spinning rod today is your lucky day because Dick's Sporting Goods is blowing them out for $299.99 regularly $410.
That's was pretty much the reason I bought them but the more I throw a drop shot the less I throw a tube. I'm having alot of success with a drop shot right now so it's hard to put it down.
Rod- G Loomis NRX 872s Reel- Shimano Stradic FJ 2500. Line- Sunline SX1 16 pound braid with a Sunline Sniper 7 pound fluorocarbon
Switch over to braid to fluoro leader it's amazing. I recommend either the 12 or 16 pound Sunline SX1 to which fluoro you want.
I got a little (or alot) carried away this offseason and bought 2 G Loomis NRX 872s rods when they were on sale. I really didn't have a dedicated use for them. I had my first tournament this weekend and ended up using both as my drop shot rods. I really liked it for that purpose but I also prefer a longer rod. Anybody else use that rod for that purpose?
x4 on the Tatula. I found mine on Walmart.com but they seem to have a pretty depleted inventory. Sportman's Outfitters has them at $119 and free shipping which is a solid deal.
Actually dropped them down to $109 now. Get one.

You guys are killing me. I thought I had ordered everything I needed from the TW sale and then I see this thread. New to Fat Ikas, looks like something I need to add to the arsenal. This website is gonna break me lol.
I used to fish straight fluoro for finesse applications and you'll find yourself changing your line about every 4-5 outings. I finally got on board with braid and a fluoro leader that's the way to go.
Just curious to why you say you won't go under 8 on the dial for fluorocarbon. I bought some Tatulas in the offseason and I've been having some issues with my line breaking in the middle of the spool. I thought it possibly due to backlash issues.
I have not used it but I saw it was one of the less expensive fluorocarbon lines out there. I read some of the reviews from TW and passes on it. I went with the Sunline Sniper instead.
I'd keep the Daiwa Tatula 7'4" heavy frog rod in there too. If you research the reviews it gets good reviews. It retails for $150 but you can find it for $120. Match that with the Daiwa reel...boom!
I find the Daiwa Tatula 100 a pretty good reel for a "beginner" at an affordable cost. MSRP is $150 but it can be found new on Ebay or Amazon for less than $95.
