  1. I was hoping not to pay over $600 with tax. They are hard to find used.
  2. I once owned a G Loomis NRX872s and then made the mistake of selling it. What if anything is comparable to that rod. I'm looking at the rod as a big water tube, ned and even drop shot rod. I felt the 872s excelled in all of those. I prefer 7'2" to 7'4" rods. I don't prefer 7' or especially anything smaller. Thanks.
  3. I came all the up to visit you so you could put me on a 7.29 and you were holding out on me. Congratulations nice fish! Is that your biggest Michigan fish?
  4. Is that one of those Yamamoto Zakos off the back?
  5. I've really gotten away from throwing a spinnerbait the last several years but i know its good for a kicker fish on occasion. Is Nichols still the preferred spinnerbait? If not, what are you guys using? I'm usually throwing 3/8 or 1/2 ounce.
  6. He also fished an area of St Clair that doesn't get pounded by bass boats that time of the year. That area isn't as deep only about 12-13 fow vs more like 18 - 20 fow near where alot of the other anglers were like the Johnston bros.
  7. Consider the G Loomis NRX 872s for a drop shot rod on big water with big fish. I used it for those purposes on Lk St Clair.
  8. I miss fishing this lake so much. It's world class.
  9. My standard cadence is jerk, jerk, pause and vary it from there. Some days faster jerks. Some days more pauses. Let the fish tell you what they want.
  10. Okay thanks for the tip. I didn't know if someone had their favorite fishing store they might offer up. It seems with the search engine optimization on Google all my searches end up with Cabelas, Bass pro shops, Dicks sporting goods, Field and Stream, Tacklewarehouse, etc..
  11. Does anyone know of any stores (online or does mail orders over the phone) that i can get the Berkley maxscent flatworms at MSRP and not $20/bag on Ebay? I know TW is said to have some in a few days but that is hit or miss.
  12. How do you fish one of those guys slow like a jig or steady retrieve or something else? I know my dad had some back in the day.
  13. Nope. I've mainly fished areas that were too weedy. I plan to fish back on the east side next year. They have their place on St Clair when it gets dead calm out there and the fish are getting overpressured and they are suspended. It can be a good technique. I find it boring though and I'm someone who likes to drop shot and Ned rig so i specialize in boring ways to fish!
  14. Yes. $13.99 plus tax so essentially $15. Pick them up on a sale if you can. Not worth $15.
  15. It gets expensive snagging logs at $15 a crack. Honestly its more of a deep water technique for suspended bass. If you were thinking about fishing it in shallow water I'd save your money.
  16. Yes. It can catch big smallies on St Clair and Lk Erie. The times this technique excels are blue bird skies and little to no wind and clear water. Make long casts, allow the bait to sink and slowly retrieve it. It's a boring technique but can reward you with giant smallies.
  17. That's unfortunate hopefully they make it right once we get through these strange times we are living in.
  18. I know alot about smallies growing up near Lk St Clair. So here's the deal in the peak of the summer they will seeking out current and cooler water. Look for this and you should find them. As the water temps cool you may find them back where they were before.
  19. I just want to put in a good word for Berkley. I ordered 3 packages of the elusive flatworms on Sunday night. I wasn't sure what to even expect. I got shipping notification first thing on Tuesday morning and my lures arrived today on a $4.99 shipping rate. Great experience, five stars.
  20. It seems to be hit or miss. I just ordered a few packages of maxscent flatworms directly from Berkley on Sunday and you can't find those anywhere. They are supposed to be delivered by tomorrow evening. Btw i see the pitboss is available directly from the Berkley website. Shipping was only $4.99 which is better than TW.
  21. What situations would you use a scrounger head?
  22. Agree with this option vs trying to chase down a difficult color to find. This is a simple solution.
  23. Throw a drop shot with a 2' to 3' leader and that puts you right in strike zone.
  24. Mike Iaconelli caught a 8 pounder during the Bassmaster Classic on LK Conroe I believe it was in 2017. As i recall that fish was on a spinning rod and it might have been on a drop shot or maybe a shakey head worm.
