  1. Where area of Michigan are you fishing?
  2. I got some Decoy finesse hooks that I was pretty impressed with so I ordered those through Ebay. Can't beat $3 for 13 and free shipping from Vietnam.
  3. Can someone please recommend a size snap for say a 1/2 ounce lipless cb? I had a snap open up on me and I lost a Luckycraft lipless crankbait. That hurt!
  4. Not a lot of numbers today but 2 fish weighing almost 10 pounds will do The top one was 5 pounds 4 ounces the bottom one was 4 pounds 10 ounces.
  5. They had that offer going last year too. I got a Daiwa/Huk hoodie and one of those fish camo long sleeve shirts. Great looking stuff if that's what you're getting.
  6. It sounds like the Zodias based on everything but the warranty. I'll even throw the Hammer 6'9" MH in there. Come on someone help me pick my rod.
  7. You need to have a nice even cast too. You don't want to whip it like a spinning rod. As mentioned thumb over the spool while casting and again just as it hits the water. Dial your reel settings so that the resistance is high to start.
  8. Shimano Zodias 6'10" M moderate Irod Genesis II jerkbait/topwater rod St Croix mojo 6"8" medium moderate I have narrowed these rods down to about $30 apart through online deals. What rod would you choose for a jerkbait, topwater, shallow crank bait rod?
  9. If you plan to fish once in a while I'd go with the 2 rods and reels. If it's something that you would like to invest some time into I'd get the one best combo that you could afford. Because when you grow out of your cheaper stuff you'll be disappointed. For example I use to spend $100 for a rod/reel combo. Now it's more like $200 for a rod or a reel.
  10. You're right but not for the Orochi XXX
  11. How about Shimano Zodias 6'10" medium? Rated for 1/4 to 3/4 oz lures. Its a moderate fast which I assume would make it a good square bill rod too.
  12. Thanks. I was just looking at that Megabass rod. Maybe if I can find loose change and take back the bottles. Does Megabass go on sale when TW does their sales. We should have 2 coming in the next 6 weeks, tax day stimulus sale and memorial weekend.
  13. I'm looking for a jerkbait rod that may serve a dual purpose. I'm thinking 6'9 to 6'10" would be my sweet spot. Any suggestions? Budget is $200 or less.
  14. A-Jay give a blade bait a try if you know how to fish one. That water temp you mentioned is perfect for that. We were watching a guide fish out near us I'm certain they had a 100+ fish day. I don't own any but I need to get some.
  15. My status changed today from "on waiting list" to "In tournament" so I guess I have at least 2 days hopefully 3.
  16. Thanks for noticing but I have been on a diet of late
  17. First trip out on St Clair 2017 did not disappoint we caught about 25 fish between 2 and 5 pounds. Water temp was 51 degrees. Water clarity in the "Mile Roads" was 5 feet or better. We could see bottom in 6.5 fow near 10 mile. Our best lures were lipless cranks, jerkbaits and underspins. Tackle report: I've recently invested some money in Duo Realis products I tried the size 100, 110, and 120 jerkbaits yesterday I liked all of them. I also tried the Duo Realis lipless 68. I didn't care for that as much as my Jackall lipless baits. Here's a few pictures from yesterday. Forgive me for my pointed beanie head.
  18. What did your fish weigh?
  19. Does anyone know if the status "on waiting list" means I'm not going for sure? It mentions that Marshalls are taken first come by time stamp registeration. I'm hoping they don't hold onto my $150 for a chance that I get to go in late August.
  20. Even better you get 2 days for sure and the possibility of 4.
  21. $150 for regular Elite events. $500 for the Bassmaster Classic.
  22. I just signed up to be a marshal for the 1st time when the Elite series comes to Lake St Clair in August. I hope I get to go. It sounds like it will be a good time. That would be so fun to watch a big name pro fish. How do they determine the pairings just random draw? Or do I have to be on the inner circle to draw a Van Dam or Swindle??
  23. If you can find the spawning flats the females tend to cruise out to the first break with cover after they spawn. The will usually hang there for a little while and are susceptible to presentations that don't require alot of chasing (drop shots, senkos, flukes, and even jerkbaits). The males will tend to guard the nests for a little while after that they will start heading out deeper.
  24. Yah that's probably true but on Day 4 it said his fish started chasing the jerkbait and not committing. That's when he switched to the Bomber.
