  1. Just wait until you need to throw it on a $800 rod and reel combo. Then you will have really lost your mind.
  2. A-jay you're getting low on jerkbaits time to stock up. What is that about $1000 worth of Megabass?
  3. Have you ever tried a stupid tube rig? I use more of either a TRD worm or the Zman Trd tube on the bottom. I don't always do it and agree it tough to fish whenever the weeds are thick in the summer. Its pretty good from the spring to early summer.
  4. It looks like a generic fluke jr type bait but the tail is a little different. Maybe somebody's homemade mold.
  5. You don't need a big hook set on 15 pound braid to a 7 pound fluoro leader anyway. Just a reel set or lean back into it. If you've never tried it before it's worth a shot.
  6. We don't have that regulation in Michigan. The biggest challenge because i run a braid to fluoro leader is usually if i break off it requires a whole new leader being tied on.
  7. For the guys that fish a drop shot, why not tie on a 2nd bait instead such as a tube bait or a TRD worm? I've definitely had days where the bottom bait way outproduced the lure on the DS hook.
  8. You definitely have whitefish action up in Ludington.
  9. Those are called spy baits!! They have a big following in the clear water lakes.
  10. Go fish it on Lk St Clair from mid-May on. If you watched that BASS tournament on St Clair most of those guys were catching those fish on a drop shot. It really is an easy technique but you have to have confidence to fish it.
  11. I used to drop shot alot with straight fluorocarbon on Lk St Clair for years. I was finding that i was stripping line every 2 or 3 times i fished due to line twist. I am a braid to fluorocarbon believer. If you wanted to you could always use a longer fluoro leader.
  12. Yep silent, with rattles and then the one knockers.
  13. I know guys that fish Lk St Clair frequently and they are struggling right now too. I think the colder nights have triggered the fish to start moving from the depths towards the shallows. But A-Jay you of all people should know with smallies they can be in a huge school one day and gone the next. They are just following the baitfish. Your lack of bait was a good suggestion not to fish there.
  14. Yep its the only reason to go jig with a snowsuit on with frozen fingers and toes. Smoked whitefish for Thanksgiving. I'm a newbie to it. Just learning to catch em.
  15. The last few years I've picked up jigging for whitefish off the pier near Lk Michigan. They usually come in from the lake to spawn in the rivers in November. Anyway, i mostly use my bass rods with jigging spoons that are recommended. I see most people that do well are using longer salmon rods. I'd like to get one but I'm not sure what i need. Does anyone do this type of fishing and can give me some tips?
  16. If you followed the BASS northern swing most of the pros, especially the ones doing well, were using them. I've bought some but haven't used them also but they are difficult to find.
  17. Lol. If you plan to come up to St Clair or St Lawrence river apparently you need them if you watched the pros out there. Paul Mueller caught an almost 8 pounder out in NY!
  18. Update- Only brown back left now.
  19. For those of you that have been looking for the Berkley maxscent flatworm and didn't want to pay Ebay prices Tacklewarehouse has brown back and green pumpkin in stock. Go and shop for them quickly as they will not last!! Tight lines!
  20. Thank you A-Jay. We are gonna try the surgery to fix his leg tomorrow. What's a few more grand right?!
  21. Life has a funny/cruel way of readjusting our priorities in life. My little pomeranian wandered out to the main road on Friday afternoon and got hit by a car. After $3000 worth of vet bills and I'm sure more coming in the future I don't feel the need to buy a $600 rod.
  22. Just curious to which modules you recommend? Do you have any experience with the JDM Megabass Destroyer wind buster? It seems like it would fit that range of rods also.
  23. Thanks everyone I will research your suggestions. My biggest drawback with St. Croix is they never offered the oddball sizes like 7'2" or 7'4". I also had a GLX892s and really liked that too
  24. Anyone have experience with the Megabass Brigand?
