Have you tried the Poor Boys Erie Darter before? I know it's pretty well known for Lk Erie so I'd be surprised if you haven't. That's a solid one too when they aren't on minnow profile baits.
I'm eyeballing one of the Spro Fat John crankbaits. I'm looking at either the 50 or the 60 model? Anyone have anything good, bad or indifferent to say? Thanks.
There are certain water temps that are tailor made for jerkbaits. Between 50 and 60 degree water temps seem optimum in the spring and fall that's not to say they don't work other times. They definitely catch bigger fish.
Yah you really need to. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Been doing it for about a decade. Great way to catch #'s and size of fish.
Nice post. Here's one I used quite a bit when I was a newer fisherman tubes. Put a 1/16th or a 1/8th ounce jighead in the tube and throw it next to the edge of lilly pads or a weed breakline and watch it spiral fall. It's a killer method. Also try to learn to drop shot this year if you don't know how. I've had 30-50 fish days just doing that. Best wishes.
I'm going to give this finesse Carolina technique a try this year. Doing research on it, it seems that most people use small worms, brush hogs, and minnow style baits. Is this a good technique with crawdad style baits like a Rage Tail or a Flappin' Hog?
Larger topwater baits like a Whopper Plopper 130 would be fine to throw on your swimbait rod. Something like a small popper or walking type bait you probably want on a faster action rod.
Boy you are in luck. If you order a Powell Inferno through American Legacy fishing they are giving you a FREE Powell Diesel rod. I'd go that route. Problem will be, you will need a new reel.....
Monday was a nice calm day on Lk St Clair. Had it been June it would have been a great topwater bite all day. Here's a chrome/blue Red Eye shad smallie.
The only reason I would pick the CX over the Invizix is I can get a 3000 yd spool of CX for under $50. The best I can find a 1000 yd spool of Invizix for is about $64.
I recently read a few articles that were on the topic of split shotting and it mentioned how it had become a forgotten technique. I was curious who is still using it and what's your favorite bait? I was thinking about giving it a shot again as the fish are heading to the flats on Lk St Clair.
