  1. I just ordered that perch Vision 110 thru Mikes Rxbaits. Can't beat buy 2 get 1 free.
  2. I'm right there with you. I know I'll be back. Just hope they start running out of things.
  3. I've already put in 3 orders and I probably will have more. I should have just waited
  4. Glad to be of help. Like I said I'm ignorant when it comes to Megabass so I appreciate guys like you vouching for his store. I wouldn't want to be directing others to a website that wasn't legit. On a side note what the heck is a Siglett?
  5. Thanks for posting that. I don't know much about their store other than at the fishing expo they seemed to have the best booth with the best products and prices. I'm selling his store short to make my post only about Megabass he pretty much has everything your looking for. Which reminds me I should have got some of those Flick shake worms
  6. I posted it there too. It didn't seem to get much attention. Maybe it's not that good of a deal.
  7. Okay now that I got your attention I recently found out about a sale that a bait store in Michigan is running 30% off all regularly priced lures and it included Megabass. They had a ton of Megabass lures however I'm not a Megabass aficionado so I don't know if I'm buying older stuff. Anyways with the sale it pretty much came out to buy 2 get 1 free. It's kind of a small time operation and the website isn't super intuitive but it's worth a look. The place is called Mike's Rxbaits and I called to add on to my order and it's literally a pharmacy that they sell baits out of lol. Besides Megabass they had a lot of high end stuff. I stocked up on some Roboworms too for that price. I have no affiliation with this store just trying to save everyone a few bucks. I've dealt with them before they're not super quick with their shipping but they'll get it to you. Check out Mikes Rxbaits on Google. The discount code is Mike30
  8. That would make more sense if I was using braid with a fast action rod but if had fluorocarbon or co-poly with a moderate rod would that make a difference.
  9. So I'm pretty new to casting reels last year was my first full year of using them. I have a question when I'm fishing a crankbait or a jerkbait do you keep your drag in play obviously, not tightened down all the way or too loose. I get if I'm fishing a frog or flipping the drag is locked down. But how do you handle the other scenario?
  10. I agree with you Darren. Sweet time to be a newbie fisherman. Hardly a bad choice in the $100 range with some of those feeling more like a $200 rod like the Fury. Now if I could only get my lure spending under control.
  11. I'm friends with Mac on Facebook so I vicariously live this trip with you guys each year on Facebook. Well now that I know your group I have no concerns that you will be on fish. Mini seems to have a good vibe of the lake. Have a good time. I'll look forward to seeing the pictures.
  12. Do you fish with Mini by chance?
  13. They are up for sure. Nothing like other states. Water level is higher than usual though. The early forecast for next week is looking good for you guys. It looks stable. We haven't had much of that. Seriously it was A/C yesterday, heat today. I think today is supposed to be 48. The biggest thing for you will be the winds. If you can get those winds to switch away from the east you should have a great trip. Best of luck and please report back.
  14. You can use braid. However, this situation definitely calls for a more moderate action rod so that you don't pull the hooks from the fish's mouth. It's because it rips too big of a hole and they are able to throw the hooks. True what you say about human skin though.
  15. Mike's Rxbaits located in Michigan is advertising a 30% off sale using the discount code Mike30. I snagged a bunch of Roboworms and some Erie Darters. They have a lot of stuff. Check them out online just look up Mike's Rxbaits. They have Megabass, Lucky Craft, Duo Realis, Jackall and other high end brands. I didn't see any mention of exclusions. **Update- I just tried the code on a Megbass 110 +1 and it works. You just have to pick out enough stuff to get the free shipping
  16. I'd say that we are running behind schedule this year. Been a lot of east wind days which are bad for the west shoreline. Usually by Mother's day weekend is prime time and your visit would be perfect but unless we get some primo weather soon I think you're probably a week or two early.
  17. Mostly bath tub tested. I hooked one bass from shore last summer when I was first learning. I bought the Neko weights but I think the nails/screws would be easier. For baits I was using a Reins Bubbling shaker in either the 5" or 7", Reins swamp mover, Yamamoto Kut tail worm. It looks like a promising technique, I'm just having a hard time setting the drop shot rod down.
  18. My buying spree convinced me that I needed 2 Little Johns and a recently added Russ Lane SB. Thanks for that The mellow yellow SB looks pretty sweet if you can find it.
  19. I've been eyeballing the above mentioned Spro Fat Papa in either the 55 or 70 size. Both are supposed to run 3-5 feet. Wired two fish does a review of this lure if you care to look it up.
  20. On your first technique you mentioned, is it a steady retrieve or fast retrieve?
  21. How do you fish it? Let it fall to the bottom on semi-slack line. Lift and repeat.
  22. I've seen your videos you can do better than that
  23. To follow up on my question of what technique you plan to try this year. A lot of you have mentioned drop shot, so I'm gonna try to help your learning curve by telling you how I fish it. Rod- 6'10" to 7'3" ML to M fast or extra fast Reel- 2500 Shimano Stradic FJ Line- Either straight fluorocarbon 6-8 pound test or braid (12 to 20 lb) to a 6-8 pound fluorocarbon leader Knot- Palomar and run the tag end back through the hook eyelet to make the hook stand out Baits- Yamamoto shad shaped worms, Roboworms, Reins Bubbling shakers, Poor Boys Erie Darters Hooks- Gamakatsu split shot/drop shot in either size 1 or 1/0 Weights- cylinder shaped lead or tungsten (better feel and smaller) usually between 1/8 and 1/4 To fish it I cast it out and work back in slowly twitching the rod tip without lifting the weight. Over a certain depth say 15 feet it seems to work better dropping straight down. To set the hook just reel and maintain constant pressure. I hope this helps some of you new to this technique.
  24. GGGGGAAIINNT bass!
