  1. I'll be honest it's not super tough to catch a 4-5 pounder right now. However in a few weeks it will be much tougher.
  2. FYI to help sweeten this deal you get a Daiwa Huk long sleeve t-shirt when you buy a Tatula reel before May 31st. However, I don't think Ebay counts it has to be a store receipt. I got one last year and wear it a ton. I lover it. Check out Daiwa Huk promotion offer 2017. I'd link it but @JFrancho will give me more negative points
  3. Finally get to take a picture without the Huk jacket. That one had the length of a 5 pounder and the belly of a 3 pounder. Looks like the spawn is underway on Lk St Clair. Another swimbait fish.
  4. Heck that was just Wednesday for me and probably will be tomorrow too
  5. Not all mediums are created equal but I like that power for my Keitech rod. But you could throw crankbaits, smaller jigs and t-rigs. You can do a lot with a medium.
  6. Yep and your half way to your next combo with what you saved. I'm fairly new to casting reels and I find that the Tatula is very user friendly. You got a great combo for the cost.
  7. Lol it helps. I don't think there has been a day that my nose hasn't been running out there yet this year.
  8. Come on over to Lk St Clair. They've been biting since April
  9. Look again. Each is offered for $109. http://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/daiwa-tatula-baitcasting-fishing-reel/ http://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/daiwa-tatula-freshwater-baitcast-fishing-rods/ Boom you're done shopping For what you want it for the 7.3 to 1 model.
  10. Do yourself a favor and check out Sportman's Outfitters. You could put yourself into a Daiwa Tatula rod and reel for $220. MSRP would be $300. That's $130 to spare for your next combo
  11. Believe it not this was from April. Was almost flat all day. Crazy!
  12. I used to be 100% spinning when I started but I'm switching more the other direction. There's something to be said when your fighting a 5 pound smallmouth on and you have 12 pound line on versus 6-7 pound line on a spinning rod. I'm probably 60% casting 40% spinning currently.
  13. Got some nice walleye yesterday on the Keitech also. Caught one around 5 pounds that choked the swimbait.
  14. The bellies were stupid fat. The pictures don't even do it justice.
  15. I was fishing Lk St Clair yesterday and the swimbait bite was on. For those of you looking for a Keitech rod I use a Daiwa Zillion 7'7" MRB I find this a perfect swimbait rod. With the regular action blank I just keep reeling through the bite and the rod will load up. I like the 7'7" rod to be able to launch long casts. If the Zillion is out of your price range check out the Daiwa Tatula option from Sportman's Outfitters for $109 and free shipping you can't beat that. I have included a link to it below and a few pics of 4+ pound smallies for your pleasure http://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/daiwa-tatula-freshwater-baitcast-fishing-rods/
  16. I have a few manly rods mine are those pink Trait Crist (Zaldain) rods. Or wait you said Manley rods...nevermind...
  17. I ordered those centering pin screws (CPS) from China on Ebay for like $3 for 40. That way you can place them on the hook of your choice. Also, are you sure your mend it hasn't gone bad? Because my experience is that works pretty well. I lied $1.69 for 50 free shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-Pieces-Fishing-Hook-Pin-Set-Fishing-Screw-Needle-Centering-Pin-Fixed-Lock-/272589885182?hash=item3f779f8efe:g:QNEAAOSwWxNYyB3f
  18. I have all RH casting reels but am considering switching to a LH retrieve to work a jerkbait and topwater. It seems more natural for the rod to be in my dominant hand.
  19. Yes to products. I renewed my BASS membership 5 years that day a got a t-shirt, jersey and a hooded sweatshirt with that enrollment length. That was more worthwhile to me than the lures or the DVD they might send you. Like mentioned above the pros are very accessible. Also I would consider finding out where they are leaving there boats prior to the weigh ins. A lot of times either the pros are being interviewed on camera or just talking to their families or fellow anglers and you can learn a ton just listening. Yes it worth it. Your favorite pros might even take the time to get a picture with you
  20. I called BASS and found out that I was the 64th person registered. 51 people fish day 3 so I just need 12 not to be able to go day 3 and I'm in.
  21. One of those yellow Skeet Reese rods?
  22. It depends on your style of fishing which way you want to head. Are you more of a finesse fisherman or do you enjoy power fishing? I think I'm up to 13 total rods, 7 are casting rods and 6 are spinning rods. Just add as your budget allows. Personally I'm very driven by deals. If you can find a quality rod at 40 or 50% off why not. You'll see that often when a manufacturer is changing out a specific line. The TW Memorial Day sale will be here soon enough.
  23. That makes sense. I watched KVD fish a jerkbait on Wired two fish yesterday and for the first time the mechanics of fishing a jerkbait made sense.
  24. When you fish a walk the dog top water bait is the mechanics the same as fishing a jerkbait?
  25. I'm assuming that you have to throw those all on Megabass rods too?!
