  1. I think the Dobyns Fury 705cb would be perfect for that.
  2. Daiwa Tatula makes a 6'11" ML rod combine that with a President for $50 and you're right at the $200 Mark with a sweet set up.
  3. He's looking for the conquest rod. I don't see it on the website. Unless they don't consider it a BASS rod.
  4. I sure don't see it.
  5. Like J Francho said I have used a double fluke rig but even rig that can get tangled up. I couldn't imagine 5-6 flukes unless some are dummy rigs (no hooks).
  6. I assume you see that Huk has good sales on their website right now. That's a good price for the Next Level gear. You got me eyeballing bibs right now even though I shouldn't spend the money. Go for it. They look sharp too.
  7. I never had any issues with water. I don't know if there were many days that were those all day rains that I fished in though. Like I said I'd expected them to be a little heavier for the price but they are quality. I've heard good things about Stormr too if you want something to compare to pricewise.
  8. It's lighter than you'd expect but keeps you warm and dry. I had an issue with my last set when I was out with Keith Poche as a BASS Marshal my zipper split apart while the jacket was zipped. Huk has a trailer at all BASS events they took my old one back and replaced it no questions asked.
  9. Come out and fish Lk St Clair in the spring. Plenty of open water and very few weeds at that point. Lots of chance to chuck and wind.
  10. Zman Finesse TRD worms.
  11. No but TRD tubes work for smallies...and largemouth. They are small and look like they would attract panfish but give them a shot on tough days. In fact, I've used the TRD tubes also as the weight portion of a drop shot rig. It doesn't work
  12. Google Whopper Plopper bass strikes. If it doesn't intrigue you don't buy one. Btw read my topic about saving money at TW. It will save you $5
  13. I'll second this choice. Can be found for just over $100 with some searching online.
  14. 20 pound Red Label fluorocarbon isn't the skinniest diameter line either. You can find much better.
  15. Spinnerbait with a Keitech as a trailer and throw it up next to shore, or brush or dock pilings.
  16. Yes 8 days a week I would consider upping your braid to 15 or 16 pound (if you choose sx1). I tried the 12 pound sx1 and with the light line you have more issues that your cutting line off. For me 16 pound Sunline sx1 matched to 7 pound sniper fluorocarbon is perfect I like an 18" leader on drop shot and about 7 to 8' on spool.
  17. You could also contact Dobyns and sell your Fury back to them and upgrade to the Champion line as someone suggested.
  18. I think this is where I got my info from but wasn't certain at the time.
  19. It depends how you fish. I wondered why anyone would use a fast action rod for cranking then I saw something about fishing traps in heavy grass and using a fast action rod with braid to rip them clean.
  20. A lot of people seem to like the Veritas 2.0. I haven't heard much about your other rod if that helps you at all.
  21. I think you are between the Mojo bass or check out the Daiwa Tatula 7' MF at Sportman's Outfitters for $110 which is a nice $40 savings.
  22. Fast or Extra Fast. I drop shot a ton and I use a NRX 872s which I believe is an extra fast. It's overkill but fishing for a lot of smallies I like having a longer rod for when they make last second surges at the boat.
  23. For a St Croix(which tend to run on the heavy side of power) I think a ML drop shot rod makes sense.
  24. I bought an Avid X and a Fury around the same time. I was so impressed with how the Fury felt I ended up selling the Avid X before I ever used it.
  25. I would consider the Dobyns Fury as a choice also. I always say it's a coin flip between the Fury and the mojo.
