  1. I'd say Mojo vs Dobyns Fury is more of an even comparison and debate especially for the price.
  2. Yah that's about the equivalency of going puppy shopping. You'll be the proud owner of some of them reels real soon.
  3. I dont know how it would be for frogging but the Dobyns Fury 7'3" mag heavy seems to be rated pretty highly for punching.
  4. That's crazy man. I don't blame you. I think I bought my GLX for around $300.
  5. I think you could do better than a E6x. Can't you find a better deal on a new rod on Ebay? If you like a 7'5" I'd highly suggest the GLX 892s. It's up there with my NRX.
  6. No to get too far from the OP topic. I understand that if you start your cast by reeling vs flipping the bail it's supposed to increase line twist. I don't do that and I still would get the line twist.
  7. Hope that works for you. I tried a few years back and no matter the fluorocarbon or co-poly I struggled with line twists and then subsequent bird nests.
  8. Do you get to touch any of the rods? If so, I'd throw the NRX872s in there too. Personally I like the longer length rod. With your 40% off deal with the NRX warranty, I'd stick with them. Isn't it $100 for lifetime replacement? I believe Megabass is only a 3 year warranty. Maybe it's more for their high end rods?
  9. Sunline SX1 16 lb braid to a 7 lb Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon leader about 6 to 7 feet in length. I'm also a fan of the double uni knot. No issues with knot failure.
  10. Mann's Kelly worm - 1967 Senko - 1997
  11. Fish will only bite this years lures. You need to send those to me. they are no good
  12. The underspin blade conflicts a bit with the aggressive kick of a Keitech boot tail. My buddy found that the Strike King caffeine shad was a good match on the underspins.
  13. Go on to ebay and type in underspins and find the size you want. Get this type.
  14. Awe thanks Glenn!
  15. What's your biggest concern? Bringing your knot through your guides? I drop shot alot and I like the idea of a longer leader.
  16. I used straight fluorocarbon for a while as a way to avoid learning to tie line to line connections but in the end that was very costly.
  17. Have you tried using a mono backer then braid and then a 6 to 7 foot fluorocarbon leader before? I've tried straight fluorocarbon on a spinning reel before and found that within a few times out the line would get incredibly twisted to the point that birds nests would form. I found it expensive to fish that way but using the other method I described above I've been using the same spool for 3 seasons.
  18. Bulky profile bait so I could see catching above average size fish on it. A tip I picked up from Tactical Bassin' is after your Keitechs or similar get beat up instead of tossing them use them for a bladed jig trailer. They can be either rigged upside down or cut the paddle of the tail so it comes more to a point.
  19. I fished alot of smallies on St Clair. I have a NRX 872s and a GLX 892s. Both are awesome rods. But for the difference in price I really liked the GLX.
  20. Probably the NRX 7'3" but you can't go wrong with a GLX or NRX.
  21. I see you mentioned on another post you're from Canada. Do you fish for smallies alot? I have the NRX 872s and I find it the perfect rod for the last minute surges at the boat smallies are known for. I also have a GLX 892s and really like that rod too. I used to fish Lk St Clair alot so long casts with tubes and the like in that clear water makes those longer rods shine. If I had the cash I would not hesitate to buy another NRX 872s or GLX 892s.
  22. How many of those pros pay for their rods though? It's another thing when you are getting rods handed to you by a sponsor.
  23. I'm with you. I just got lucky and was reading this website and someone had pointed it out. I went back and forth about spending that much money on a rod which I know is $200 less than retail. I pulled the trigger and have been happy ever since.
