  1. I have one starter battery and two trolling motor batteries. Do I need 1) a three bank charger or 2) a two bank charger for the two trolling batteries and a separate single bank charger for the starter battery?
  2. Thanks Catt. Who would I ask to make them?
  3. I store my Plano 3600 boxes in canvas utility boxes from Bass Pro. However, it looks like Bass Pro is no longer selling the canvas utility boxes. Does anyone have a recommendation for another inexpensive canvas utility bag to hold Plano 3600 boxes?
  4. I'm puzzled why the inline fuses (30amp) did not protect the circuit board from frying. I'm puzzled why the inline fuses (30amp) did not protect the circuit board from frying. Would an add-on circuit breaker be a solution? Is there a way to test the circuit board without pulling the trolling motor and taking it to a service center?
  5. My trolling motor will not power on. The fuses at the batteries seem fine. I've read that you should not charge the batteries with the trolling motor plugged in. In other words, I should disconnect power if the trolling motor is not in use, charging or in storage. Apparently, that is the number 1 cause of failure and something that I just learned. What I don't know is what specific electrical problems I may have caused by charging my batteries without unplugging my trolling motor. Is the first thing I should do is replace the plug and receptacle where the trolling motor connects to the 24v system?
  6. Regarding the Dobyns Glass rods, would you recommend the 736 (heavy power, fast action) or the 735 (medium heavy power, fast action)?
  7. Fishnkamp, where do I find the factory mislabeled Champion glass crankbait rods? I looked on the Dobyns site and could not find them. Thanks. Fishnkamp, nevermind, I found them. Thanks again.
  8. I am looking for a good rod to use with deep crankbaits. I currently have a 7'3" Abu Garcia Villian Casting Rod with heavy power and fast action and a 7'0" BPS JM CarbonLite Casting Rod with medium heavy power and fast action. I just saw on sale a 6'6" Quantum Team KVD Casting Rod with medium heavy power and fast action and a 7'4" Quantum Team KVD Casting Rod with magnum heavy power and moderate power, both described as having lightweight graphite and fiberglass construction and hefty backbone to deliver a true parabolic bend. I was also looking at cranking rod from the Duckett Ghost Series. Which of those five rods is better to use with deep crankbait? Any other rods better for deep crankbaits at around $100 or below?
  9. Yes, I think I may end up creating my own notebook from different sources. Perhaps this is a good idea for any aspiring writers who want to publish.
  10. Thanks. I find the how-to videos and transcripts very helpful, but I am looking for diagrams and concise written explanations that I can print out and keep handy in a notebook. Something like the charts at http://www.fishinfo.com/fishing-articles/article_512.shtml but more up to date.
  11. Does anyone have a chart of how-to diagrams and recommended rods, reels, knots, hooks, weights for the wide variety of soft plastic bait rigging that now exists? The chart at http://www.fishinfo.com/fishing-articles/article_512.shtml is pretty good for the riggings that it covers but it is dated 2011 and does not cover the more recent rigs like rage, ned, wackey, neko, mojo, donkey, double fluke, shakey head, etc..
  12. Thanks. My initial plan was to install a Helix 10 Sonar Combo or DI at the bow plus a 360 as the first step and then installing a Helix 10 Si at the console as the second step. But from what I have read I will find side imaging more useful than 360, so installing a Helix 10 SI should be the first step. Plus, as I understand it, the 360 trolling mount is not compatible with a Terrova/Ulterra, meaning the 360 will be transom mounted at the back of the boat reducing its effectiveness for someone fishing in the bow. This leads me to my current three-year plan. 1) Install Helix 10 SI at the bow where I usually fish and where I hopefully can see it from the console. (I will test the viewing distance from bow mount to my console in the store.) The transducer will be installed at the transom to avoid the problem a SI trolling mounted experiences when the trolling motor moves around. 2) Install Terrova/Ulterra with iPilot Link and network with the Helix 10 SI at the bow. Use the built-in Universal 2 sonar from the Terrova/Ulterra. 3) Move Helix 10 SI to the console, install Helix 9/10 Sonor Combo or Helix 9/10 DI at the bow, install a 360 at the transom, and network all items together. The choice between a Helix 9/10 Sonor Combo and a Helix 9/10 DI will depend on how I eventually rank the value of a dedicated DI crystal over the price difference between the two units. The choice between installing a 360 or not depends on its usefulness for fishing from the bow when installed at the transom. Well, that is my most recent version of this Rubik cube problem. Any thoughts?
  13. Thanks for the input on SI. if I had to make a choice, should I go with SI or 360? In other words, should I choose a Helix SI or should I choose a Helix DI or Helix Sonar with a 360 unit mounted on the transom?
  14. "You mentioned the Helix 10 SI GPS five times. What other model is involved with "two fishfinders" ?" That is actually the question...what should I get as a second fishfinder to pair with the Helix 10 SI GPS? I don't think a second Helix 10 SI GPS is needed.
  15. I would like suggestions for a second fishfinder to go along with my plan to buy a Humminbird MinnKota set-up over a three year period (so the cost is not too much at once). At the end of the three years I would like to have a second fishfinder to go along with a Helix 10 SI GPS I also plan to buy and a networked Terrova or Ulterra. I am assuming that the Helix 10 SI GPS will be the more expensive of the two fishfinders. What I am looking for are ideas about what to start with first and how to proceed from there. For example, what should my second fishfinder be, should I buy it before the Helix 10 SI GPS, and where should it go (console or bow)? Should the second fishfinder be network compatible with the Helix 10 SI GPS or not I worry about it? Should the second fishfinder or the Helix 10 SI GPS go to the console with the other at the bow? Thanks.
  16. Is anyone aware of a cheat sheet or chart of preferences matching rod/reel/line setups to different types of lures and presentations? For example, what rod action and length, line type and test are recommended for topwater lures? Even if there is not cheat sheet or chart of preferences around, your personal preferences would be appreciated. I have a Abu Garcia Revo SX reel and Abu Garcia Veracity rod I use for everything now, but I am thinking of adding a few more rods/reels for more specific purposes like flipping, topwater, crankbait, and spinners.
  17. I was considering an 6' 6" ultralight Browning Air Stream ($60) with a Pflueger President 6920 ($50) to cast light jigs for crappies and other panfish. Any thoughts?
