  1. how much would a cleaning be and what kind of turn around time is it? should i strip my line off in case i choose not to repair it?
  2. I bought a Tatula off of my friend for a $40, great deal and its been my work horse for the last year. last weekend the clutch didnt engage and now im wondering if i should move on or send it in for repairs. what would yall do?
  3. before i lost my toad runner it always seemed to foul up with the hook getting pushed over to one side. too bad i lost it would of liked to fish it more but my initial impressions was that the plastic seemed harder than the standard pad crasher. i doubt ill be picking up another. i do fine on top toad.
  4. Caught this decent chunk using a jackall kaera frog at Elmer lake.
  5. if you think you caught something special like a personal best with out a scale you should next time take some measurements. congrats on the catch.
  6. i am too but a lot of times it can lead to fewer bass caught. im always trying to force the topwater bite to work and only will ditch it after spending way too much time with it.
  7. i didnt use a net for my first year and lost a few nice fish because of it. I also broke a few rod tips trying to boat flip a bass in. recently i entered a kayak tournament and figured it was about time so i picked out a ranger wading net. i use my yak attack roto grip holder on my slayers track up front where my front hatch is to keep my net in a good stable place where its easily reachable when fighting a fish. i can also tuck the handle under my seat while the net is in the water so i can let the fish rest in my net while i prepare for a photo. now i cant imagine landing a decent fish with out it. it also floats. I just saw an icast video on nets and he says something like, you spend all this money on everything, (boat, kayak, truck, rods and reels), dont cheap out on nets. they complete the whole reason why youre on the water. it really makes sense to get one.
  8. skitter pop
  9. black chatterbait, black Colorado spinner bait and a black buzzbait has worked for me this year at night. the chatterbait caught me the biggest of the three.
  10. sometimes when im alone i listen to stuff like music or news.
  11. yeah i should pick up some of those rod floats. this past weekend i was trying to unhook a bass, i let the clutch open to make it easier to unhook and then the rod went into the water. was fun trying to pull it up with the line on a reel in free spool.
  12. you mean even dinks? i only keep count of fish over 2 lbs.
  13. this greedy 4.6 lbs bass couldnt even wait to completely swallow this poor frog before chomping at my jig.
  14. I try to resist the urge to setting the hook immediately. i try to feel the weight of the fish before leaning into him. if anything if gives them another chance to hit it again.
  15. Elmer lake has become my summer fling. Im really into frog fishing and this seems to be a great place.
  16. Thats a good idea but i caught mine on a popper and im not putting my hands on that fish with trebles hanging all over its mouth. with my luck things would get real ugly quick. But nice move and nice fish!
  17. I hear they make fantastic taco meat.
  18. while preparing for measurements i have the bass in the net. the net is secured to my kayak so that isnt the problem. the problem is when the fish is already on the board.
  19. Anyone familiar with this rod? I would like a dedicated frog rod that wont fatigue me fishing it for a few hours so i want a light weight heavy action rod . Im a short guy so i feel comfortable with shorter rods and this seems like it would fit me.
  20. cant measure with that though.
  21. Im thinking next time about using rope or fishing line to put through the mouth and out of the gills and then securing it on to something while measuring. thoughts on that?
  22. So I entered my first kayak tournament at Octoraro Lake and a few nights before I read Swims thread about his getting his phone flipped into the water while on his measuring board. I read it and dug around my house and found a lanyard that would connect me to my phone at all times, awesome. So anyways i fished the tournament and was catching them good on my popper. Had 2 decent sized fish measured and sent and was feeling if i had my limit of 3 i would have a decent chance of doing good. Well soon enough I land my 3rd fish, biggest of the day, sweet. I get my board out, wet it and laid it on my lap, turned on my phone and let it hang on my lanyard so i could pick up the fish and hold the board at the same time. I get a hold of the fish carefully laid her out on my board, and as soon as i took my left hand out of her mouth to hold her down and use my right to take a picture the fish flops underneath my hand and flops right into the water! Spent the rest of the day replaying that moment and didnt catch another fish. As with kayak fishing touraments measurements in length is much different than boaters weighing in. One 5lbs bass can win over 4 one pounders when competing with bass weights. vice versa three 12" bass weighing around 3 lbs total can beat out two 3 pounders. But I go back to the docks and asked around and found out no one had a limit and i ended up winning! as a bonus the guy who had the biggest fish didnt check off the lunker box in the contract agreement papers even though he paid to enter the lunker pot! So i won both pots! As for the bass that flopped off my board, Dont do that!!!!
  23. intrested in that pip squeek. ive caught some nice fish on the popping perch.
