  1. i agree with this statement. maybe check out a GLoomis CR724
  2. watch this and tell me if you think gl is dead waters
  3. ive been contemplating doing that with my kayak. as you know the other areas near green lane get pounded and if you go to any decent lake in the summer its a zoo with boat traffic. theres nothing worse than going to a spot youve been wanting to fish just to find theres someone fishing it and another boat waiting to fish it after him. the fees are kinda a hard pill to swallow as well. if you do, and ever want some company pick me pick me! ive heard the fishing can be very good with some decent smallies in the mix.
  4. wow great find. i would of sworn more kids/adults played basketball than fishing.
  5. ive read that bowling is a dying sport as well. but on the flip side, how much has bass fishing grown? ive heard that boat sales compared to the 1980s are more startling than the dwindling bowling alleys.
  6. you cant honestly say that more people bass fish than people playing basketball as recreational sport if you think about it. i know a few friends that are in summer league baseball leagues that play for fun. even hockey there are people who play in leagues.
  7. he earned that in one calendar year. and i have no idea how much money is spent on either sports but my local bowling alley is pretty full a lot of the times.
  8. i see bowling on ESPN way more than bass fishing.
  9. in 2018 Michael van Gerwen has earned $3,200,000 in prize money playing darts. this total is not including endorsements.
  10. im sure theres a few stolen items that have been listed for sale here on this site too.
  11. In recent years, an estimated 35,000 fans have made the pilgrimage to the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island to watch the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog-Eating Contest in person The 2018 Bassmaster Classic in Greenville and Anderson, S.C., set a new attendance record of more than 143,000. you are correct. 13. thats actually a good sport to compare. i wonder how the bass pros average salary is. this is what i found about pro womens pay and its fan base. my guess it would rank slightly below bass fishing. I have watched the womens NCAA tournament a few times. The salary structure for WNBA players is open to question. About 30 or 40 players make at or close to the maximum, which is $109,500. The league’s average salary is $75,000, which means there is only a modest difference between the league’s stars and average players. Attendance has held steady over the last few years, with an average of roughly 7,500 per game in the 2014 season.
  14. i really dont know. i was severely lacking sleep when making this thread.
  15. i think were getting off topic lol. i wasnt asking if bass fishing was a sport or not i was asking what other competitive activities that have the type of following as bass fishing.
  16. I dont know man, I think most guys know Tony Hawk even if they dont skateboard. but i doubt many people know KVD who dont fish. So I would think skateboarding would be above bass fishing.
  17. Just last night and i stumbled across youtube videos on arm wrestling and spent the rest of my night watching endless videos on this sport and was fascinated on how seriously people take it, a lot of their videos get crazy amount of views. it got me wondering what other sports that we might not even think would be equal in popularity to bass fishing. I know compared to the big sports like, basketball or football there is no real comparison but what about ping pong or bowling? Ill list some other professional sports and you tell me if theyre more or less popular than bass fishing. 1) bowling 2)billiards 3)ping pong 4)skateboarding 5)bodybuilding/powerlifting 6)badminton 7)darts 8)competitive eating- is the nathans eating competition more popular than the classic? 9) polo 10)????
  18. Mine also has a rudder but i just unload it the way you used to . the rudder is flexible enough where it doesent stress it out where things might break. seems like asking for trouble but ive been doing it for a few years now.
  19. Ive had a slayer 10 propel for a few years now. what i like about it is how easily i can car top it. I have a friend with a old town predator and its weighs so much more that id seriously struggle getting it on top of my car. it has the pedal drive so i love that but the only thing i wish it had that the newer hobies are the rudder controls. hobie has them on both sides and mine is only on the left hand side. if youre using a right handed retrieve bait caster you will have problems changing directions while in mid cast with the rod and reel in your left hand. im sure you can get a second hand slayer 10 for under $1500. that would seem like a good deal.
  20. I use a older 6'10 MH tatula for frogging when im fishing fairly open water. works just fine.
  21. Im partial to Daiwa because their customer service has treated me better than I imagined.
  22. I would go for the MH if you want a rod that can handle heavier lures and be a more versatile. arent they the same price? as for the M i wouldnt be throwing anything heavier than 1/2 oz so a 3/8th would be the sweet spot i guess. and dont be picky with the reel weight just find the best reel that you can afford with some solid reviews. everyone and their mothers say the Fuego CT is the best bang for the buck so i would look there. and btw save that receipt. Daiwa has replaced that rod twice no questions asked. one was due from boat flipping a bass in and other was snapping the tip trying to un snag a lure. yeah both were my fault but i thought id give it a try to see what they would do for me. that kinda stuff made me kind of brand loyal to Daiwa.
  23. i would use it for everything i use, buzz toads, buzz baits, jigs and frogs except chatter baits/spinner baits because the low torque would tire me out faster.
  24. just to be more consistent in catching fish.
  25. i have both m and mh. the male sides of the connecting points are solid carbon so its expected to be heavier than normal. so expect to be a little fatigued if youre using techniques that are controlled by wrist movements like poppers, jerkbaits when used for longer than an hour. great solid rod, i used the medium full time for a year and used it for everything except frogs, even caught my then personal best 4.7 lbs on a jig. that said i only use them now when im going in my wifes car to bank fish or going on a plane.
