  1. Yeah our lake is full too. We got 28 inches in 2 days once several years ago , and it just got up almost level with our bulkhead area . Still way down from our house. Catfishing will be good though!! In my lake , the day or two after a rain can be good for bass.
  2. I love eating fish, including bass. They arent my favorite, but I catch more of them than other fish, so eat more of them. I manage the fishing on my small lake so I thin the herd to achieve a better average sized fish. I prefer salt water fish in general. My son and me especially catch sheepheads, redfish, flounder, and panfish like croakers, spots, and whiting. In freshwater, I love catfish, bream and bass. I dont catch many Specks ( crappie ) , but they are my least favorite to eat. When I talk about eating fish, I mean FRIED fish. If I was a condemned man , it would be my last meal!!!
  3. Maybe when they’re in the mood to eat it overpowers the turn off from the caught fish.
  4. Looks great. I can definitely see it better.
  5. Got 1 on a frog just now. He just sipped it in. Didnt know he was on until I lifted the rod to pop it.
  6. Thanks for the responses. I looked at the schematic yesterday and got it back together with all the parts ( apparently) in the right place. But the bail still wont go up and down, even though I tried several more times. The reel isnt turning smoothly either. I think its about time to give up and get it into a ( real ) reel repair shop... I did get a dink on the new rod and old stradic.
  7. For now Im putting my old stradic on the new rod. The stradic is needing a new gear though and sometimes freezes up. Havent used it lately.
  8. Another thing is that I finally found the rod I was looking for to match with this reel. I really want to try it but cant until I fix the reel.
  9. I tried again. This is so aggravating. While I was trying to get it back together my cloth chair ripped. So I took it out to throw it away and when I came back in with a spare chair it leaked out of the pipe all over the floor. Get that cleaned up and then couldnt find my glasses. Finally did, and kept trying. When I picked it up to resume trying I accidentally turned it over and everything fell out. Now Ive got a piece I didnt have before, and dont know where it goes.? . Never had this much trouble with a reel before...
  10. I was standing one foot away , cast out and looked down. This is what was there.
  11. I watched a you tube video and it showed the problems with why it wouldn’t go up and down. Im pretty sure its just the way Im putting it back together. It looks simple and probably is.
  12. I took apart my Nasci 3000 to clean and cant seem to get the spool to go up and down now after several tries. The stud on the bottom gear isnt broken and fits into the slot like it should. No teeth are broken on any of the gears. I also have trouble getting the side plate to line up so it doesnt bind up the reel. I always struggle with reel components because I have big hands AND limited patience! Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Sunrise just now...
  14. No thanks- got enough broke down stuff at the house already
  15. It looks like it’s going well east of y’all too.
  16. so...around 68 senkos ? I’ll take em!? They may tear up but they catch fish for me!
  17. I just turned 60. I have mostly fished N and central Florida only. I have fished every big name water body N of Ocala to the Georgia line, except the Suwanee river, and more obscure waters than famous. I started fishing Florida when it was still “ old Florida” When I started fishing, a fish camp was really a fish camp, not a restaurant. When I started fishing , one of the main ways to die was to be run over by one of the countless trucks that were towing a bass boat. They were everywhere. When I started fishing, there were many places I fished that we wouldn’t see a house all day. When I started fishing, there were mom and pop bait stores almost as numerous as Mcdonalds nowdays. When I started fishing, the go-to bait was a Manns jelly worm, then a culprit worm. When I started fishing , people fished with live bait as much as artificials, and most people kept the fish. A lot has changed around here, but bass are still bass, after all.
  18. Im very sorry for your loss. Praying for you and yours...
  19. • Zoom super fluke • Senko type baits • Ribbon tailed and other plastic worms • Creature baits In that order !!
  20. They are different but look similar.
  21. I caught many of my bass in there on a red shad culprit worm. The shoreline fishing around grass beds and docks is good. I also fished the canals on the west side of the lake a lot. Never got into the “offshore “ fishing there because we didnt have a depth finder. There are some deep holes out there that hold some good fish. You can also fish for specks ( crappie ). Use minnows and drift at various depths until you find a school. Roostertails work for them too. I love that lake. My dad ALMOST bought a place there when I was a kid.
  22. Welcome! Ed, I have fished Georges lake many times. Out of all the lakes in Florida, how did you pick Georges? It has good fishing , but is fairly obscure. I live around an hour from there.
  23. Hoping and praying for the best for you and yours...
  24. Started back to afternoon fishing now that it’s cooling off some. Got 12 , mostly on watermelon red super flukes , and a couple was on a 12 inch ribbon tail worm. Lost the two biggest fish I hooked, which has been the trend lately...
