  1. Why dont you lip or net the fish then?
  2. It depends on how much time I have. More time= more areas fished. Less Time = Hitting the best spots.
  3. Actually, May isnt too bad in N. Florida. It’s usually a very good month for me. Im glad you’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel up there...
  4. You beat me to it!
  5. I catch a lot more with watermelon colors, but do fine with pumpkin, esp. wiith the yum color “ bama craw” which looks like half june bug and half pumpkin. My home lake varies in visibility between moderately stained in winter to fairly clear in summer. I think I see a slight trend that I catch more in the winter with pumpkin, and more the rest of the year with watermelon. When I use watermelon, I do well with watermelon seed on cloudier days, and better with watermelon red on sunnier days. I cant catch much with watermelon candy, so I quit buying them. Watermelon slice is very good for me too- it’s essentially red shad , except the top is dark green, not black. I have caught probably 10 times more fish with watermelon colors than pumpkin , and that is at many other spots besides my home lake.
  6. My son didn’t enjoy it like I did. He got himself transferred to Colorado spgs, where he is now, and loves it.
  7. My oldest son was stationed at Omaha for years. Being from Florida, it was very different in some ways. I really enjoyed our visits there. It seemed clean and the air was good. The food there is outstanding, even equal to our southern cooking. It seemed nobody was in a hurry either, which I like. Enjoyed the weather ( we didnt go in winter) Got to a minor league bb game at Rosenblatt., which was a treat. As for the ‘ huskers , the fans Ive met were gracious to us Gator fans after y’all blew us out in 95. I have a high opinion of Nebraska .
  8. Well done. Enjoyed that !
  9. @OCdockskipper The earthquakes and fires there offset the good weather In my opinion. Not to mention other reasons.... but Florida isnt perfect either. I can take the heat, and lightning, plus all the critters, and crazy people ( usually anyway ) but I really dread hurricane season..?
  10. I put a lot of mine on the other thread but here’s some more... Im really more into traditional bluegrass because “country” has become like rooting around in the trash for the rare good song anymore. I don’t understand why bluegrass isnt more popular but to each his own...I included a couple of my favorites because country came from bluegrass, which came from “ old time “
  11. North Carolina is my family’s roots. If I ever left Florida I would either go there or upstate SC.
  12. The farthest Ive ever moved is 2 1/2 miles, unless you count the 2 years I lived in an apt. in Gainesville, which is 75 miles. Ive only moved 3 times in my whole life. I live half a mile from my childhood home.
  13. NO ! Too hot already! Seriously though it’s really only bad hot here .between june and september .
  14. So the big question is what happened to sondra Locke, granny, Chief , and the gang? Some unanswered questions here. Maybe a fill - in movie is due: The outlaw Josey Waling The tough ex farmer, ex family man, ex southern guerrilla fighter , and GOAT of all coolness in westerns finally snaps and has a nervous breakdown from all the pressure and losses after chief accidently burns down the house trying to send mysterious smoke signals to renegade comanches . Everyone in the gang was asleep inside and died , except Josie who was sleeping in the barn after grannie caught him with a chew in the house and spitting at the dog. The Outlaw Josey Waling: Endeavoring to persevere !
  15. I like Longmire too.
  16. I usually have this one, a Smith and Wesson lock blade my boss gave me for Christmas. I also have a mossy oak lock blade I wear sometimes, and I have a mossy oak sheath knife I only wear in the woods or unsafe parts of town...? No back pocket for me. Its either on the belt on the right side or in my right front pocket.
  17. Forrest Gumping- A new sport emerges when a dim-witted , hands-on Tarzan enthusiast decides to traverse the woods with only a vine and a prayer... On Golden ponding... Beavers attack and hold a pond from unfortunate gold prospectors.? Southern comforting - An unfortunate group of national guardsmen get lost in the swamp and are killed with kindness by a Cajun Amish cult... it must be a record cold winter for a thread like this!
  18. No freeze in Florida. ? Lows in the 50s, highs in the 60s and 70s. They were saying we’d be pushing 80 later this week.
  19. When I was a kid and teen, I loved Hogans heroes, Gilligans Island, Gomer pyle, Andy Griffith , Beverly Hillbillies , I love Lucy , I dream of Jeanne ,Sanford and son, all in the family and several westerns, with Gunsmoke leading the pack. As I got older I lost interest in newer sit coms. They just weren’t that funny to me , compared to the old shows. I tried watching Big bang theory a few times and don’t remember laughing once. Somehow I watched a rerun of king of Queens and thought it was funny- I ended up watching a lot of episodes. I watched Blue bloods and got sucked in. Probably the best cop show ever imo. My wife’s favorite show is heartland. I started watching it with her and liked it, got partly sucked in . Alone had me for awhile too... I watch Mountain men and Swamp people but I keep falling asleep while watching the latter... I love their new snake show in the everglades...
  20. Drive? I have at least a 30 foot walk from my back door...
  21. Thanks. As long as its legal .?
  22. Got this one on a shiner...
  23. I pulled a swimmin’ fluke along the bank at my property and ... She was up shallow. I think they are fixing to do their thing... It’s time. They are slow this year due to colder than normal temps.
