I like fishing alone or with someone else. Whichever one Ive done the most lately, I really enjoy it when I can do the other one. Does that make sense?

Ive done best with the zoom speed craw and the Big Bites craw...

Shellcrackers go by red ear sunfish outside of the south. I would have thought there were some in Nebraska... By the way, I love your state. My oldest son was stationed at Omaha for close to 10 years...Never did any fishing there though.

They are all copperhead bluegills , except the second to last one , which is a shellcracker. I have never caught a tilapia. They arent very common around here, although I know 1 pond that’s full of them. They never would bite anything ... There arent any that I know of in my home lake.

Found some nice bream beds today...Had fun catching them on a roostertail...

Was out at the crack of dawn. Calm to windy by mid morning . 66-76 temps. The lake is a foot and a half lower than normal because of no significant rain in 3-4 weeks now. I managed 11 ,10 of them coming on a watermelon seed super fluke. Caught 1 on the roostertail trying to catch bream. Big fish was 3.15. I had cast the fluke out while drifting and casting to bream beds with a rooster tail. I had just hooked a nice bream and was reeling him in, when I noticed line peeling off the bass rod. The fish put up a reall good fight, making me think it was bigger than it was. I kept track and caught 11 of 13 fish that bit. Overall a good morning, but the numbers per trip has been way down this year for some reason...

Congrats to you and your daughter. My 3 kids are very different. The oldest is an extreme over achiever , who is already a major in the air force, plays 6 instruments, and is a brown belt in brazilian ju jitsu , and is an ordained deacon. And has 3 kids and a wife. The middle son is a plumber, commercial fisherman, and cook. He would fish 24/7, and often comes pretty close to that. My daughter is the under- acheiver. I’ll leave it at that. She has a couple of great teenagers that Im helping raise. I love them all the same...

Ive fished some lakes in Baker and Union counties if that’s close enough... Red shad is a good color with soft plastics for a lot of the natural lakes throughout N Florida. Ive had the most success with culprit worms, flukes, senkos etc, I also catch fish with spinnerbaits and topwater frogs...

Went surf fishing yesterday with my son. Got this good sized sail catfish , which was the best fish of the day. Also caught around 10 small sharks , and a few whiting and spots.

Mine was on a Red and white spoon when I was 14. I made a great cast under a dock , and as soon as I started the retrieve, he clobbered it. I dont know that I ever caught another one on it though, because I learned about soft plastics soon after that.

Id call a local bait store. Im sure they’d know. I know it was about dried up for awhile there.

I plan to get out early on my small lake on monday. I plan to fish a frog first, and see where that leads... I doubt if anyone else will be out early so...

We actually had a cooler spring here than normal. All of may has been 50’s and low 60’s at night , and 70’s, low 80 ‘s during the day. Getting our first run of 90’s this week. I cant imagine 40’s in May. It’ll make it that much better when you do make it out! As for me, I’ll be starting the early morning trips and fish until 11 or so. The fish bite much better early in the morning here with summer weather...

If Im at home , I get up an hour or so before daylight, get everything ready , then walk the 35 feet or so to the dock and go. I usually leave right as light is just appearing. Back When I fished more all over N Florida , I would leave in time to be there at sun-up, which means leaving 1-2 hours before sun up for most of thr trips...

And the fact that Bob McNally wrote the article. He’s a highly respected outdoor writer from my area...

I had a lingering cough since early spring. Nothing there to cough up. Just a dry wheeze. In the last month it finally went away. Pretty sure it was some kind of allergy, probably from pollen of some kind. I never took anything for it...

I caught an 8 pounder with a bubble gum fluke...
