  1. Exactly the way I use them.
  2. Man,I love that lake.I used to fish it a lot.Caught my pb speckled perch (Crappie) there.Looking at the map that F.F.F. provided,it was just to the right of the cut between the big lake and little lake.In the big lake about where the number 17 is on the depth .I can't tell you anything about the offshore fishing there because we didn't have any electronics then but there are some good deep holes in it.I imagine that Rattletrap's and Cbaits would work out there. We fished the Cypress trees and docks to take most of our fish. The bait we had the most success with was a moccasin culprit worm.Fished a night tournament there once and all I caught was an old trot line. But it has plenty of double digit fish in it.If you drift some minnows acrost the deep holes or fish brush piles with minnows or roostertails you should pick up some nice specks.I'd use shiners for big bass in there.
  3. I follow it if I'm planning a special trip. And I watch it for full moons in spring.Otherwise,I don't follow it.The last 2 times I checked it and fished the best times I caught one over 6 and caught 6 In about half an hour right when the chart said it would be good.I personally think they are generally good in predicting when the fish will bite the best but if you watch them too much it would hinder you from going a lot.
  4. Swamp Music by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Watch %22Lynyrd Skynyrd - Swamp Music (studio version)%22 on YouTube
  5. Maybe not intentionally but it is .I wanted to go today but just knew it would cause issues so Im staying home like a good boy.But I fished for a little while out back and got a 4 pounder! So I reckon I was rewarded for good behavior.
  6. With my schedule,I don't get out of my home range much. When I fish around here I feel confident and don't ask questions much.If someone wants to ask me or talk fishing that's fine. When I fish a new area far from home I get what info.I can online and then try the local bait store. When I try to trout fish in the mountains I always try to ask advice but it doesn't seem to help.Unless I use corn I don't catch Any.Went to Gatlinburg area to fish "new river" in the smokies.Went to the local trout fishing store and the owner excitedly told me that the river was the best trout fishing spot in the smokies, and sold me the 40 dollar license and some roostertails that assured me would work. After 4 hours and NO bites I nearly went back and told him what I thought of him and his bait store.I think I was probably his only sale of the week .At least I got to enjoy the mountain air and scenery.
  7. I listen to a lot of traditional bluegrass such as the Stanley bros,Scruggs. Ricky Skaggs.Old time hillbilly music. Also like old times Cajun- mainly balfa bros. Can't stand new "country " Can't stand any rap. Love the old southern Rock-any Skynyrd songs. Also listen a lot to old southern gospel and some contemporary Christian.
  8. You might want to have someone drop you off and float down to a take- out spot downriver.
  9. I've fished the Santa Fe a few times near blue springs.Caught a Suwanee bass that was app.2 pounds.I think I caught it on a red shad 7.5 inch culprit worm.It fought like a 4 pound largemouth. The current was 2 or 3 mph I'd say.To me,it was difficult to fish without anchoring.I caught the fish out of a shady cypress tree line. And that trolling motor will be very slow.I had a little 3 HP. kicker and it was slow against the current on the Santa fe.
  10. I keep mine in old cleaned out herbicide bottles our co. used.I just wrote the hook size with a marker on it.They have threaded lids so the hooks stay dry and secure.
  11. Sounds like mine.I weighed mine with 3 scales. One said 8, one said 8 and a half, and one said 9.So I go with 8 and a half. The taxidermist said he thought 9.
  12. Mine was app.8.5 pounds caught on a Mann's jelly worm when I was 19.This is a picture of the mount.
  13. I didn't think it was Delancy but it looks like it could be.It looks more like North grasshopper lake which is about 20 miles s of delancy.
  14. I remembered my wife asking me what I wanted for father's day one year.I told her a new baitcaster r&r.She didn't say anything, which is her nice way of saying NO.So out of the blue she decides to take the kids fishing at the pond down the road. She got a bite and when she reeled in there was a baitcaster r&r on the end of her line!Don't tell me God doesn't provide!!
  15. Favorite lake picture? Here's mine. Here's another.
  16. If you could fish with any famous bass fisherman for a day,who would it be and why?
  17. I love playing "swamp music" when I head out to fish!
  18. Get down in the cypress trees in the st johns river and you'll see aplenty of them.I was fishing near Welaka one day with 2 friends that were brothers that I grew up with.Big brother in the front, little brother in the back, and me in the middle. We kept seeing moccasins in the trees and knocking em out withe the paddle. So it was on our minds a little.Big brother is an outdoorsman from day 1.Little brother is the same.So little bro. says to me " watch this".He Ties a big plastic worm to his line and sneaks up on the seat by me.Then he plops the wet worm on big bro's neck.As Charlie Daniels sang in one of his songs"He let out a yell that would curl your hair"As he was about to abandon ship he heard little bro. laughing and his look of total fear turned to one of total anger.I was just barely able to keep big bro from hurting little bro. I can still see this in my mind even though it happened 30 years ago.
  19. I play some bluegrass on the phone occasionally. I'm sure it doesn't effect the fishing but it puts me in good mood! Now I don't clog in the boat or anything.I usually listen to part or all of one playlist then I turn it off.
  20. I caught my pb on a Mann's jelly worm( grape color). This year I plan to use one to catch a new pb. I caught the most fish last year on 4 inch yamasenkos. For the previous 8 years it was zoom super flukes.
  21. Where's it at? By Detroit?
  22. Roostertails for me.And live minnows
  23. I release most of the bass I catch nowadays but especially anything over 3.My dad would not understand.
  24. I kind of see your point if the fish is kept. But if the fish is released I dont agree. The mortality rate is no different with live bait as opposed to artificials.Back when bass fishing got popular nobody I knew practiced catch and release because we felt like that if we spent all the time and money that we ought to keep the fish. You almost felt guilty NOT keeping them.My dad taught me to keep whatever was edible .We meat fished and had fun doing it.It put supplemental meat on our table.I think it would have been a sustainable resource in the south( always had been ) but so many people came down here bass were not as easy to catch due to low numbers.Anyway,we eventually got on board with catch and release( for most bass anyway) but who should judge what someone else does with the fish THEY catch.Or HOW they catch it.
