  1. In some scientists opinion. Not buying the relation to monkeys thing.
  2. I’d be interested in hearing how you remove them. Send me a pm when you have time.? Thanks!
  3. There’s always the St Johns river system in the Jacksonville area. The most expensive homes are right on the river, but there are homes on creeks off the river in all directions. You would definitely also have the population your wife wants and no ice ( well once in my lifetime) There are other options also.. One of my old friends lives app. 12 miles south of downtown in a one street community that has a community dock and everyone has their own boat slip. My friend lives 1 house off the river and has his bass boat in the slip. The river has great fishing and I don’t think people fish it as much as they used to. I think it’s because salt water fishing is so close too and seems to be more popular now.
  4. 7.6 caught on a Golden bream super fluke.
  5. Party boat fishing? Bottom fishing? I love doing that. Have fun!
  6. My biggest this year was 7.6. Caught on a golden bream Zoom super fluke.I caught a few over 5 in the spring but don’t keep records of fish under 6 . They were all caught on soft plastics I’m sure.
  7. Mine too, and he became a deacon at the church we grew up in. He kept running crab traps for a living.
  8. Sunset a couple weeks ago. Strangely enough, I had a childhood friend that got shot 5 times too by drug dealers and lived. He lived at the end of a dirt road backing up to a creek, swamp all around him. They went down his road in the middle of the night broke in , beat him with a bb bat, shot him 5 times, and left him for dead. I visited him at the hospital and prayed with him. He was out in a week, completely stopped using drugs and started taking mission trips to Cuba.
  9. Not much work yet today so guess what I did? Caught it on a 6 inch senko.
  10. Sorry for your loss but it was a win because of time spent with your son. Thats such a beautiful area. Always feel drawn to upstate SC .
  11. It really doesn’t matter but I’m curious why this was moved to fishing reports.? I thought fishing reports were current, not stuff that happened way in the past.
  12. One of my neighbors shot another neighbors dog 6 times and it lived too. Strangely enough, the poor thing died from cancer a year or so later. Yeah we got to see bears in the smokies before on several occasions. Biggest one was up near the top of Clingmans dome. Glad the G-kids were along to see him.
  13. Dang , what was he using? A BB gun?
  14. I went this morning and used the jerkbait mostly for the first 2 hours. Didn’t get 1 fish on it, did have one follow it to the boat.
  15. Haha the other N ames- you remember. Yeah I know about the liquor stores back then- my friend ran into the big oak at parental home Rd and Bowden.! After drinking too much wild turkey on a hot Saturday working at a farm.I came out with a broke thumb was all. Still hurts when I use a bait caster!! Haven’t been drunk in over 37 years now though... The road to nowhere? Maybe you mean the Dames pt bridge over the St Johns river.? Yeah I don’t think there’s any drive ins left anymore. How long since you were here last? I was class of ‘78 from Wolfson HS . Went to Fjc and Florida after that. Good talking with you too. Your name sounds familiar but I didn’t know too many people that went to sandlewood back then.
  16. I’ll try that fix for the hunter. I had several other suggestions that I haven’t gotten around to trying yet either though. my friend didn’t say where he got it- I think he bought it used also... I’ll check to see if there’s any ID on it and let you know. Yeah I remember that big gator in the FJC pond. My Jboat turned over in there once when I had a large friend with me one day. Didn’t see the gator but the security guard showed up pretty quick as we tried to make it to shore... That lake at the 17 tower went by a different name back then that I can’t repeat on here... The peanut butter hole that I knew about was a popular hole that we’d go Muddin’ in . But the one we went to was at the sand mines near Southside and butler. There were some big bass in those lakes too! I grew up on the Julington creek side of the river and used to fish it a lot. Back when Mandarin was still country. I don’t know about Pelhams-I don’t get over there much anymore.
  17. Hey Rick. Yeah I’m an ol Jax boy. Grew up way down on the south side near mandarin. Went to wolfson. Last name is Barnett. I don’t know much about my bass hunter. I bought it used from a close friend. The markings on it are very faint. It actually has a crack above the water line in the front where the trolling motor mount is. My 40 pound thrust TM put too much strain on it. I can’t come up with a good way to fix it, so I’ve just been using the Jboat lately. I fished the FJC pond too and we caught some in there nothing big though. That security guard there was a pain. He ran us out the second time we put a boat in there. No sign saying you couldn’t fish there. Also fished the unf pond with the island . Never did well for bass there, but we caught a lot of bream.
  18. I’m not a jerkbait expert, but I often do better for big fish between 11-2 in the winter for some reason. In the summer I’m rarely still on the water after 11... I tend to think that if the bass are feeding they will generally bite whatever you are throwing that looks like a good Food source to them, no matter what time of day it is. I just say go whenever you can, if you don’t have a line in the water you definitely won’t catch any...
  19. Sitting here at the tire store and I started thinking about a topic I’d like to start. Old memories of great fishing trips we’ve had. I have so many and I’m sure y’all do as well. It doesn’t necessarily mean the best day catching fish but it could be the memories created by the experience with nature, family, the Creator, or the fish. You can make multiple posts as you think of old experiences. I scarcely know where to start. So I’ll do an old one first, with my dad. I had caught fish before , but at 8 I had not caught a big fish yet.I was on vacation at my Grandma’s house in Shallote NC. My dad wanted to go surf fishing, so he took me and my cousin the 7 miles down to Ocean isle beach. White sand, very clean, sea oats blowing in the breeze. Can still remember the smell of the beach that day. We fished dead shrimp. I suddenly had a big bite , and there was nothing like I had experienced before pulling on the end of the line. Being so young, I could cast the bait caster far enough to where fish were, but I still wasn’t too good at telling the difference between a bite and a wave. When this fish hit, I knew it! There was no doubt. My dad and cousin called encouraging words and of course, coaching me on how to land the fish. I finally pulled it up into the surf, and the last few feet I was so afraid it would fall off... but it didn’t. It ended up being a 3-4 pound black drum. I was hooked for life! Wish I had a picture to share but at least it is forever stamped in my mind. I can see that day even though it was 50 years ago. My dad didn’t catch any , but My cousin caught a keeper flounder. We fried em up at grandma’s house. Have loved fishing ever since that day. It’s interesting how one experience can shape your life’s interests and pursuits.
  20. Hey man , I’m sorry- I just saw your post. I catch most of my fish with soft plastics. My 2 favorite are Zoom salty super flukes and senkos. I T-rigvthem with a 3/0 wide gap hook and no weight. Hope that helps. I also do well with various worms. God bless, and thanks for your service!
  21. Got a picture of a cousin taken right before he was killed in that war. It was right before he left his home in SW Virginia to go. Him and GGpa had a mess of squirrels they had shot up on their mountain that day in the picture.
