  1. These are pretty solid rods. The only problem is the guides are tiny, even by micro standards. If you are going to throw any sort of braid to fluoro leader setup these guides will eat it your joining knot really quick. Ask me how I know this?
  2. Drop shot: Robos & Net Baits Finesse Shaky: Hightail Hole Shots & Shaky Snakes
  3. I use 20lb braid with a 10lb fluoro leader.
  4. Brown Bullhead. You just have to reel in about every 15 minutes because you will never know if there is a fish on.
  5. I use GP, Junebug, M3, Morning Dawn, and black. For me the darker colored worms get bit more. I use watermelon red Rage Craws on a jig rig and they bite that really well. I only fish for them Nov-Feb.
  6. I run a 7'6" rod with at least a two foot leader. I keep my rod tip way up to keep my line angle high so the worm is off the bottom. I cast it out as far as I can or to cover of there is some, which is rare. For the retrieve I'm always reeling slowly while gently shaking my rod. With the way I rig my worm on a straight shank it gives it an incredibly natural swim motion. For me this at least quadrupled my production for this technique, but everyone has a different style they like to fish. I'm a power fisherman and this allowed me to utilize a great technique without going crazy.
  7. Spring and fall are easy. Summer and winter suck. Stick with it and you'll start to figure out the retrieves, bait sizes, time of day, etc. of summer fishing. Then in the winter fish the exact same way, but do the exact opposite for time of day.
  8. Almost every lake I fish clears 100', some well over that. The deepest I've every marked a non-spotted bass was last week in 68'. There were two of them suspended on a small hump and they were monsters. I know they are bass because our lakes here have littls hatchery trout that stay at 15 feet until they die and pan fish. I've marked spots blowing up shad balls at Shasta down to 120' in the winter. Unless there is a mud line you rarely catch anything decent that time of year shallower than 40'.
  9. One rod, try seven. If I had to pick one (I hope I never have to) I'd go with a 735. Either a Lamiglas Infinity or Dobyns Champ Extreme. If I wanted more length I'd go UMBX 707MH or an NRX 893.
  10. I switched to YZ 10lb for spinnerbaits and square bills this year and I really like it. Solid product for the price.
  11. I like my Supreme and Supreme XT equally. I think the Patriarch is quite the step up for not a lot extra.
  12. Drop shot, shaky heads, jig rig, keitech (I fish mine on bottom), and C-rig. My drop shot to jig ratio is about 20:1. I used to hate drop shotting but since I've modified it to the way I fish with gear and terminal tackle it is ridiculously effective now. If I'm on a point I'd rather drag a 10" lizard over it. If I'm spot fishing in winter I'll catch ten times as many on a shaky head. During the pre-spawn a jig rig with a Rage anything or Crazy Flapper is insanely productive. If you need to grind out some fish a Keitech will get you there. I get it, jigs catch good fish and they do. I've caught quite a few picture worthy fish on them. If I'm out to have fun and catch as many as I can a jig will never be part of that plan.
  13. Same. I really only use them when I'm trying to cull in a tournament. They are so much less productive than all the other bottom contacts things I use.
  14. I use a clinch knot in baits up to 6oz with it, so I'm not sure what you have that is failing.
  15. In the internet video world there is Matt Allen, pro anglers shoving sponsors down your throat, regular guys shoving sponsors down your throat, regular guys that decided to buy a GoPro, and kids that got a GoPro for X-mas.
  16. Megabass Orochi XX Shaky Head model and use the leftover to buy five years worth of bait.
  17. I rarely swap out trebles, but any of the bigger stuff R2S makes come with crap hooks. I swap them for Owner ST-56 1/0's. I run those on Hudds and everything else too.
  18. I can vouch for the MB's. I run one on my frog, square bill, chatter bait, and swig jig setups. For the price I don't see how you could do any better. As for performance I can't tell the difference between any of my Lew's Team reels. I think I have every model now and price is about the only difference. I would agree the Pro G is the happy medium of price and performance with them. Like I mentioned before the weight is the only thing you will really notice between those two you are considering.
  19. Bobber stop, bullet weight, punch skirt, straight shank, brush hog. I've yet to find something better to flip into wood.
  20. If you're looking for a good knock off Sebile makes a decent one. The ass end dips down in the water but it still walks just fine.
  21. I try to keep everything natural. If a fish bumps my bait I kill it for a few seconds and let it do its natural fall, suspend, or rise. Then I will usually twitch it a little and bring it back to what I was doing before.
  22. I use 17lb fluoro for leader, a gammy 5/0 super line EWG, 3/8oz lead, and a 7" magnum Fluke. It's good for flipping docks and deep structure.
  23. "You catching anything?" "Nope"
