  1. Well it's been a long time since I've been here. My little boy turned 3 and is asking me about fishing...so I have to knock the dust off the rods and re-spool the reels. Anyone have any new advice for local fishing down in SE PA or South Jersey? I saw a few names I remember from 3 years ago...anything new happening in our area?
  2. It was 3lbs just about on the button. Vince
  3. This was my fisrt trip out for the season. I took my cuz from Florida who despite having some great bass fishing in his area, has never been freshwater fishing. We were fishing from some of our family's property so it was a really nice day. Nothing like catching bass from a bench with a bathroom and grill 50' away. We got lucky early as we knocked the cobwebs off the gear and each Rob scored a mid 2lb LMB, and I landed my first (almost 2lb) within moments after releasing his. We then had to wait a few hours for the second strike...His was right under 2lb then mine right after was 3lb!! Was a great fight as this was weedy as hell! My new PB and just a great day overall. Rob later got one last decent fish so he could brag all the way home I'm just glad I found a new lake close to home that I can fish whenever. Rob's 1st LMB Vince's 1st LMB Rob's 2nd LMB Vince's PIG!
  4. Just bought a Shimano Sahara at Dicks for $39.99 minus 10% for my Dicks club card and I added a few other things to total $50 and got $10 off with a coupon in my local (PA) fishing guide. I already owned the Sahara 1500 and I love it! Vince
  5. I have not been around much through the winter, as I can't stand the cold, but if you plan a meetup there...I just might have to join in. When were you thinking? Vince
  6. Can thisbe done with spinning gear? Or will I drive myself nuts? Vince
  7. I think my "thank you" can be summed upwith one phrase..... One of the mods said that "they are happy to see people learn a lifetime of fishing in a few months of reading here"...and that is me! I feel like I have learned a lifetime of information in just a few months! I have been able to teach some of the basics to new anglers, and for that I am grateful to the staff and everyone here! Thanks all, Vince
  8. You know...there is the possibility that we can share some secret PA locations I mean the lake sounds pretty big...and well....dangit...just share already!!! Enjoy your new hole! Vince
  9. With my limited glass knowledge....don't you have a decent template already? You have a support system on your jon right? Take that out, spread your fiber, and glass that sucker! You could use a nice thin sheet of luan plywood. It will bend with the curves, has almost no weight, and you can remove it later to put your decking back. Just a thought, I may be wayy off base, as I've never actually glassed anything myself, only watched as friends built panels for my car Vince
  10. I thought anything over 55lb required 2 batts? Does that defeat your goal? Vince
  11. I saw an article somewhere where a guy took an old fiberglass bathtub and strapped a lil 35lb TM and a batt and was fishing from it. I swear it looked like he was using waders. But just the glass tub was enough to float this guy ~200lbs a battery and motor and all his gear. The tub had to weigh about 25lbs at most. Story 2: There is this work crew on the DE river fixing bridges. They have this little runabout w/o a motor. They use a tow line to get from shore to the floating platform. I think it's glass...but I'm not positive. I know I've seen them pull it from the water with one guy. That was about 4' from the water to the bank (sea wall type thing). And I've seen him load all kinds of tools and equipment on it. There are two quick examples of light floating devices that will support weight. Now will either win a race...doubtful...but it's possible.
  12. If you go to the Clorox site they tout how biodegradeable their bleach is. And How safe it is around people. I'm sure with enough of a rinse is would be fine. I also like the oda of running some lake water through it a few times prior to putting fish in it. But I don't own a boat, I've only used it to clean a few fish tanks in my day.
  13. I think it may have something to do with a not so picky woman/man with whom it may or may not be easier to have carnal relations. or promiscuous. Just a thought. Vince
  14. LBh needs to pick up Sony, Panasonic, Cannon as a sponsor! Talk about flooding the site with vids I really need to be comfortable with a product before I would rep it for anyone. Just because someone throws product at you...it's not enough. If they have cruddy products....I'm not going to say I like em. Now if they want to throw products at me to make sure I like them first...then we can talk. On that note...I'd like to test products from; Ford Trucks Tracker bass boats MinnKota I need to find a fav rod builder I need to find a fav reel builder (although I'm liking my Shimano) Reed's Bloody Mary mix (So Tampax will leave me alone) Trojan Condoms (the anti Tampax)
  15. I don't think that moving up in your lince choice is going to help, unless you are using a "springy" mono type line. Then moving to braid or fluro might help with the hookset. I love a nice tight braid for soft worms. Great sensitivity and near instant reaction with hooksets. 8lb should be plenty, unless you are worried about weeds and snags. (I have got my fair share of underwater logs and overhead trees) Vince
